Of well fought battles, won.

This is a true quality piece. This is signed, a certificate is attached to the back, extremely well made even down to the box it is in! Below is some info that I found from their site that is worth a visit to find out more.

"Wajima-Nuri" (Urushi Ware) is a traditional Japanese lacquerware with more than 600 years of history. Wajima-Nuri is probably the most famous, most durable and beautiful among Japanese lacquerwares. One of "Wajima-Nuri"'s distinctive characteristics is its warm and deep lacquer color.

This depth in color is the result of its time consuming hand-made process, which usually takes 2 years for base-making and 4-6 months for over 100 coats of lacquer. This art has been crafted only in a small town called Wajima-city of Ishikawa prefecture in Japan. Here, in family-owned workshops, artisanal skills are passed down from generation to generation.

Wajima-Nuri's intricate hand-painted gold leaf decoration is also rich and elegant, brightening the thick lacquer surface. The color of the lacquer used to be either Black or Red, but nowadays many different colors have been developed.

Because of its time consuming process, the prices of Wajima Nuri are relatively high compared to other lacquerwares.

Many Japanese people use them only for special occasions. We hope more people would appreciate this beautiful lacquerware in their daily life.

Thank you for looking!
