In the style of the Gibson girls, this signed painting by Ida Bloomstine has been in my private collection for many years. I couldn't find anything on this artist and welcome any information offered if available.

The little semi miniature painting or drawing appears to be an oil painting and to date to the early 1900s. The woman is in flowery Victorian or Edwardian style clothes and has a lovely Gibson girl style hat. It is in its original oval wooden frame and has glass intact. No matting, some expected aging and wear to the background but nothing that couldn't be remedied if desired.

The oval frame is about 11.5" by 9.5".

I am selling this AS FOUND...it really could use reframing and possibly a nice mat job. I am leaving that to whoever buys it. It is in overall good vintage condition and is priced accordingly.

This is an ORIGINAL PAINTING and is NOT a repro nor is it a print.

If photo is not up yet and you are interested in this, let me know...I am having digital camera problems!  This is a wonderful watercolor etching of a 1909 Ford by Charles Lantz. I can not locate any information on the artist. Nor can I locate any other art by this artist.

There is a certificate of Authenticity on the back of this etching.

Signed by Charles Lantz and numbered 68/200.

 This is a wonderful matte print of a sailing ship on Key West Waters. It is matted and framed, but can be redone to your taste. It has glass in the frame which I will try my hardest to pack well as to not break. However I can not garantee this so if you wish for me to leave the glass out please let me know before purchase so that I can change the weight of the item for shipping. On the bottom of the print is the following:

 What a wonderful litho by F. Nassa of a country sceen with a swan on the lake. This is done on cardboard type material. Almost looks like a watercolor. The frame says Homco #7280 and is plastic. Looks like it was made for the frame.

 This is a wonderful print of Le Sacre Coeur Montmaitre in Paris in Lutece Editions. Signed by Brumer or Bruner? Framed behind glass size is 19 1/2" X 15 1/2".

 1884: Authentic drawing by an Austrian artist. Hand signed: 12/1 884

Realistic, fine charcoal drawing, depicting 4 hooves of a horse.

Size: 10,5 x 7 inches ( 26,5 x 18 cm ).

Fine condition. It looks great when matted and framed and makes a wonderful gift - not only for horse enthusiasts.  This is an outstanding, charming pair of antique Victorian German prints that are full of character and emotion. The children's faces are truly captivating. The period clothing and the children's stance and expressions are heart-warming. These prints are both in excellent original condition, except the picture of the little boy has a tiny piece of the print on the boys hat, sticking to the glass. Both prints have very faint water stains. They retain their original antique wavy glass and molded wood frames in original, old creamy white finish. They both have original brass plaques with German titles. The title of the girl and boy print reads, "Ein Geheimnis". Translates to, "A Secret". The title of the boy with apron print reads, "Ich bin der Meister". Translates to, "I am the Master". The backing is a very old oil cloth. The hangers are original. These are wonderful and enchanting antique Victorian prints. Circa 1900.

Pair of Charming Antique Victorian Germa $235.00

This is a very captivating antique Victorian print titled, "Queen of Flowers". The picture features a beautiful girl with a sweet expression on her face. Her hair is adorned with rose buds and a lacy scarf with ribbons. Her dress is also lovely with lacy edges and a collar. She’s holding a large vase filled with a bouquet of fabulous Victorian flowers. This very special Victorian print is so pleasing to look at. The print is large and the colors are bright and vibrant. When cleaning this wonderful piece, we discovered an interesting label on the back of the print itself. (see photo) This is how we discovered the title of this piece. It even has a neat advertisement for ‘Agents Wanted’. Also, on the front lower left corner of the print, covered by the frame, reads, "Published for P.O. Vickers. Augusta. ME.". The print has a slight tear on the left side, near her arm and on the right side it has a slight scuff and slight tear. These very slight tears do not detract from the beauty of this print. The large, original wood frame is decorated with fancy gesso. This piece retains its original wavy glass, wood back, and wire hanger. Circa 1890’s.  This is a sweet pair of antique prints. One is of a lovely Victorian girl with a big bonnet and a beautiful angelic face. The other is of an adorable Victorian boy with curly golden locks of hair and a charming smile. They look to be brother and sister. These are wonderful Victorian prints hand-signed in pencil by the famous listed artist, Ida Waugh (1819-1919). The matting around the prints is deep with highlighted beveled edges. The original frames are wood, painted bone-white with applied, decorative gold gesso. They have original wood backs with original glass and wire hangers. These charming antique Victorian prints are in excellent original condition with age-appropriate wear to the frames. Circa 1900.

*** I’ve included below some interesting information about the famous listed artist, IDA WAUGH:

Ida Waugh was born in Philadelphia and trained at home by her painter-father Samuel B. Waugh (her mother may have also been a painter), at the Pennsylvania Academy, and at the Academie Julian in Paris. Her work has almost disappeared, but was often on religious-allegorical themes or scenes of Dutch life. Her illustrated children's books were produced with her lifelong companion Amy Blanchard who owned a neighboring summer cottage in Maine. Waugh's half-brother was the well-known marine painter Frederick Judd Waugh.

This article was cited from: members.cox.net/academia2/cassatt6k.html  This is a hard to find, adorable pair of small antique Buzza prints featuring cute little children with flowers. The little boy has a great expression as he is watching a butterfly. The little girl is picking flowers. She also has a sweet expression on her face. Original wood frames, painted gold with green trim color. Old, original glass, metal hangers, and original Buzza paper backings with the Buzza stamp. The back is unsigned and ready to be given as a lovely gift. Both prints and frames are in excellent original condition. There are, however, a few tiny flakes of dirt underneath the glass of the little girl print. Circa 1920’s.  This is a very special and rare antique print that captures the essence of Victorian embellishment. This is one of the most elaborate, intriguing, Victorian pictures we have seen. The print depicts three little girls dressed in Victorian attire, holding bunnies and flowers in a meadow. There are lovely details throughout the print. The children have captivating expressions and the scene is peaceful and pleasing. The bottom right hand corner of print reads, "Copyright 1890 By W. Hagelberg" (Wolff Hagelberg). The textured matting is very special and fanciful. It is fully embossed in a light blue color with flowers that glitter. The left lower portion of the matting has a large horseshoe that is hand-painted and glittered. Layered over that, are hand-painted daisies that are also glittered. In addition to that, it’s balanced out with daisies in the top right corner. This piece is original to the frame. It is a wood frame in original cream-colored paint and decorative gesso applied in the corners. The glass is original. This piece has a nice original wood backing, cut nails, and original wire hanger. This wonderful picture, frame, and matting are all in excellent original condition. Circa 1890.

***I’ve included below some interesting information about the well-known Publisher, WOLFF HAGELBERG:

Wolff Hagelberg was one of Europe’s leading and largest Fine Art Publishers of Berlin, Germany. He printed some of the most beautiful greeting cards, books, and prints from the mid 1800’s possibly into the early 1900’s. He was most noted for his intricate work in die-cut cards. Hagelberg’s greeting cards often included poetry by E.E. Griffon or M.S. Haycraft.

"The company's array of novelty effects used, including the die-cut HTL process (on which the company held the patent), pull-tab transformations and other mechanical effects, squeakers, printing on silk and on silver, multi-color airbrushing on deep embossing, real hair and other attachments, fancy and fanciful frame designs, etc.

S. Hildesheimer invited him to share judging their 1881 prize competition: ‘We were fortunately enabled to obtain the valuable services of W. Hagelberg of Berlin, a gentleman of great experience, and occupying a foremost position amongst Fine Art Printers to assist in the selection of the designs, thereby securing not only the highest artistic but the best practical judgment for this important trust’."

 This is an exceptional antique punch paper bookmark with the seldom seen motto, "Heaven Is My Home". This is all hand-done. The motto is ‘framed’ by beautiful stitchery, interestingly enough, in the shape of a bookmark. Above that, is a lovely and colorful creation of floral work. The elaborate, decorative design represents a variety of flowers. There must be over two dozen different colors of thread used to make this bookmark! The way the colors of thread blend perfectly into each other is very attractive. All of the threads remain bright and brilliant in color. The threading is tight and secure, front and back. There is no thread loss or signs of wear to the threading. The punch paper is in excellent original condition as well. There are No creases to the paper, No perforations to the holes, and No stains or tears anywhere! This unusually large, antique punch paper bookmark retains its original fancy, bright red silk ribbon. The ribbon has been beautifully stitched and remains tightly secured to the edge of the punch paper with matching red thread, although mostly concealed. The edges of the ribbon both have nice, finely-done, decorative fringe-work. The fringe has not frayed or come unwound any more than it was meant to. The ribbon remains bright and bold in color with no stains, holes, tears, and no snagging to the front and back of the silk fabric. There are just a couple Extremely Minor creases to the edge of the ribbon that could easily be flattened out. Interestingly, I was told that this antique punch paper bookmark was found in an antique Bible. Apparently, the Bible has kept it safe and beautifully preserved for many years in between its pages. This lovely bookmark must have been left and forgotten about for so long, explaining its clean, bright, and excellent original condition. Unfortunately, I do not have the Bible that it was found in. That would have been nice though. Overall, this very special, antique punch paper bookmark is in excellent original condition. Circa 1920’s.

*** I’ve included, below, a hymn by poet, Thomas R. Taylor, about the well-known motto, ‘HEAVEN IS MY HOME’: (this is also a song)

Title: "I’m But a Stranger Here":

"I’m but a stranger here,

Heaven is my home;

Earth is a desert drear,

Heaven is my home;

Danger and sorrow stand

Round me on every hand;

Heaven is my fatherland,

Heaven is my home.

What though the tempest rage,

Heaven is my home;

Short is my pilgrimage,

Heaven is my home;

And time’s wintry blast

Soon shall be over past;

I shall reach home at last,

Heaven is my home.

There at my Savior's side

Heaven is my home;

I shall be glorified,

Heaven is my home;

There are the good and blest,

Those I love most and best;

And there I, too, shall rest,

Heaven is my home.

Therefore I murmur not,

Heaven is my home;

Whatever my earthly lot,

Heaven is my home;

And I shall surely stand

There at my Lord’s right hand.

Heaven is my fatherland,

Heaven is my home."

Hymn # 515 / #660

Lutheran Worship / The Lutheran Hymnal

Words/Poem By: Thomas R. Taylor 1836 alt. (1807-1835)

Author/Composer: Arthur S. Sullivan, 1872

Tune: "Heaven Is My Home"

1st Published in: 1836

- This hymn is cited from: Lutheran-Hymnal.com  This is a very special and hard to find antique print. The scene depicts a Guardian Angel looking after and protecting a precious little baby in a gorgeous and fancifully decorated bassinette. The light, warm shades of purple and blue create a peaceful and serene feeling. This comforting picture is full of inspiration and heavenly appeal. The little baby has such a sweet, angelic expression. Another interesting detail is the background sky. It looks as though they’re up in the clouds. This print is in excellent original condition. The original blue-painted molded wood frame is also in excellent original condition and is very complimentary to the print. Original glass and old backing. New metal hanger. Circa 1920’s.

Rare, Inspirational Antique Baby Print o $125.00

This is a rare and very unique antique religious motto titled, "To be a Priest". This is not a print. Both the illustrations on the matting and the motto are all hand-done by artist and Father Reverend Timothy Shannon, T.O.R. (1909-1985). I believe Shannon lived and was active in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. The words in this sentiment are beautifully written and would certainly ring true for most Priests. The Reverend signed his name, along with initials, near the top of the matting in fancy Old English lettering. An interesting detail is that the artist emphasized certain profound words in bold print throughout this motto, such as the words, ‘Priest’, ‘blest’, ‘Christ’, ‘God’, Divine’, ‘Prayer’, ‘seek’, and ‘apart’. The artist / Reverend created a nice arbor-type border framing the motto with grapevines and grapes adorning the arbor. This is a most unusual mixed media motto done with pen and ink and watercolors. Shimmery, gold highlights throughout. Above the artist’s name at the top is a picture of a Holy Chalice with the letters, "IHS", written within. The motto and matting are in excellent original condition, with the very slightest bit of waviness to it. Original, gold-painted molded wood frame. The frame is also in excellent original condition with minimal age-appropriate wear to the gold finish. Original glass, paper backing, and old wire hanger. The original framer’s label, "Charles M. Heritage; Correct Picture Framing; 407 Broadway; Camden, N.J.", remains intact on the paper backing. This wonderful, divine, and special motto would truly make a great gift for that blessed Priest in your life! Circa 1920’s.

*** I’ve included, below, some interesting information about THE MEANING BEHIND A CHALICE, as well as THE MEANING OF THE INITIALS, ‘IHS’:

A chalice is a standing cup, a drinking vessel, used to hold sacramental wine during Holy Communion or The Lord’s Supper. The symbol of the Holy Chalice is open to interpretations, as there are many.

‘IHS’ is a symbolic monogram of Christ used by the Roman Catholic Church. The initials, ‘IHS’ stand for the shortened name of Jesus Christ in Latin. IHS is an ancient monogram (or letter symbol) for Jesus that dates back to the first century. The letter I means: Iesus and is Latin for the English word: JESUS. The letter H means: Hominum and is Latin for the English word: OF MEN. The letter S means: Salvator and is Latin for the English word: SAVIOR. So in conclusion, the initials, ‘IHS’ stand for the words ‘Jesus Savior of Men’. The symbol originated in Rome with the early Christians, and was popularized in the fifteenth century by Franciscan disciple Bernardine of Sienna, who promoted it as a symbol of peace. There is, however, good evidence that the initials were used to represent Bacchus, the god of wine, who early Christians identified with Jesus.

 This is an adorable and heavenly print titled, "Pals at Prayer". It features a handsome little boy with his puppy, both saying bedtime prayers. The child’s face is simply angelic. This picture truly captures the divine beauty and innocence of childhood, as well as the uncertain mystery and magic of prayer. The soft, light-toned colors of blues, browns, and cream create a serene and peaceful feeling for the viewer. The print and matting are all one. Towards the bottom left of the picture is the artist’s name, "Kasabach" and in the bottom right is the publisher’s name, "E.G. Co., Inc.". The initials ‘E.G.’ stand for the well-known publisher, ‘Edward Gross Company’. The print and matting are in good original condition, except for a few very light and minor stains around the far edge of the matting and a light brown circular stain near the top right corner of the print. I believe the stain was possibly made from a round sale sticker that must have been left on the glass for many years. Original, decorative, molded wood frame with original white paint. The frame is in excellent original condition, except for some very slight age-appropriate wear to the finish. Original glass and old metal hanger. The original paper backing has some tears, but is mostly intact. Despite the age-appropriate wear mentioned above, this piece remains to be a lovely, enjoyable, and certainly an adorable picture. This would be a wonderful addition to a little boy’s room or child’s nursery. Circa 1940’s.  This is an adorable antique print of a charming little girl sitting in a field, surrounded by a multitude of gorgeous colorful flowers. The scene captures the innocence and whimsical nature of childhood, as the little girl solely focuses on a beautiful butterfly that’s landed on a flower. She even appears to be clasping her hands in delight and probably bewilderment, from the charming expression on her face. There is a great variety of flowers that can be found in this picture with bright, vibrant colors throughout. This picture was originally painted by the famous, American listed artist, Frances Tipton Hunter (1896-1957). She was a famous illustrator, well-known for her humorous and endearing children and animal pictures. Her signature, partially covered by the frame, can be found in the lower left corner of this print. The print is in excellent original condition. The molded wood frame is original to the print and retains the original gold and terra cotta colored finish. Original glass. Replaced wire hanger. Circa 1920’s.

*** I’ve included some interesting information below about this well-known artist, Frances Tipton Hunter:

"Frances Tipton Hunter was an American magazine illustrator specializing in gently humorous and endearing genre pictures of children, in a style related to the Americana of Norman Rockwell. She was active from the 1920s to the late 1950s. Born in Pennsylvania, she was orphaned at age 6 and raised by relatives in Williamsport. As a young woman she studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and graduated from the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Arts. Later she became a member of the Society of Illustrators and the Artists Guild. Tipton illustrated for all the major magazines of the era and produced artwork for advertising, catalogs, calendars, greeting cards and posters. She drew paper dolls for Woman’s Home Companion in the 1920s and continued to make them at least into the 1940s; two collections were reissued by Dover Publications in 1988-89. She also produced covers for magazines such as Collier’s and Country Home as well as at least 18 covers for the Saturday Evening Post between 1936 and 1941. She published a children’s book, The Frances Tipton Hunter Picture Book, with verses and stories by Marjorie Barrows (1935). She left much of her artwork to the Lycoming County Historical Museum and the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport; according to the library’s web site 'her original posters and advertisements are rare'."

This piece is unusually small for a punch paper. I have never seen anything like it before. The entire piece has been hand-done by needlepoint. The fancy and shapely needlepoint design features a cross and crown at the top, incorporated within an arch, and decorative work below. The picture is well-defined and the colors are bright and vibrant. The entire punch paper has beautiful details throughout. The needlepoint is nearly perfect with just a few missing threads. There is a very small discoloration on the punch paper towards the center right hand side and one near the bottom. The punch paper has a tiny perforation at the very edge, near Jesus’ hand. Also, partially covered by the frame, there are two little rows of punch paper that are missing at the very bottom right and left hand corner of this piece, approx. ¾" in length. Overall, these small and very minuet imperfections do not detract from the beauty of this special and wonderfully rare antique. Original, gold-painted molded wood frame with original black trim.
