This is a beautiful, fashionable, and slightly exotic antique print of a very attractive young lady in a romantic portrait pose. She appears to be focused on a certain 'object'. Her colorful shawl hangs down off her shoulders, exposing a slight bit of lingerie. This print so eloquently captures this young lady's sweet, playful, yet innocent expression through her face and body language. The frame is a decorative molded wood with original gold-painted finish. Original glass, original cardboard backing, old string hanger. Both the print and frame are in excellent original condition. Text at bottom:

Published by W.F. McLaughlin & Co. Chicago ILLS.

Donaldson Brothers N.Y.

The charming imagery includes a young debutante being presented in court to Queen Victoria. The others wait patiently for their turn. Beautiful shiny white dresses and bright red uniforms. So much lush scenery see like the rugs, wallpaper, rich curtains and the huge painting right in center with a 'Victoria' name plate.

SIZE:

16" x 22"

CONDITION:

Most of this image is very good but at one time, it was rolled and has some vertical lines where the paper has cracked--seen mostly on the upper left about the men. This type of process (chromolithograph) tends to crack easily so this not unusual. Much of it diminishes when put behind glass and in between the flaws, the condition is great.

There are 4 tears on the right edge (only one goes 3/8" into the plate) and there is chipping/wear on the edges. Former owner wrote on extreme side and can be framed out. Printed on thick paper--nothing on the back. This is NOT out of a magazine, it was made as a print, to be framed.

This was kept as a collector's piece, so it was stored flat and was not framed or tacked up.

CONDITION:

Inside the plate is very good with no damage except for 3 very small holes along the crease--they look like part of the scenery and you'd have to look close to see the difference. There are multiple tears and chipping along edges but do not go into plate. Both bottom right corners are missing. Discoloration mostly on margins.

OUT OF IT!

Democratic Jockey Club Assoc. Notice.

Old Sport Watterson (in charge of the Democratic Racing Stables) - "You're both ruled off and that settles it!" "New York cannot be carried for Mr. Cleveland - Scheming politicians are favorites nowhere, least of all in America, for his own fame Governor Hill has been too secretive." - Henry Watterson, July 14th.

SIZE:

Approx 10" x 13.50"

Note: This is the COVER only.

CONDITION:

Most of the middle of this cover is excellent (where there is no damage and still retains bright colors), but the edges have some discoloration and handling wear. One 1" tear on edge and some small tear on bottom edge.

Text on the reverse. It has been kept flat and in protective sleeves for decades. These magazine covers are superb lithographs and have retained the rich color saturation--like they were just printed. The artist's character drawings are about the best you will find.

Guaranteed vintage and original.  This is a vintage 1982 ERTE offset-lithograph poster - the title is Aphrodite.

Seven Arts, Ltd. Published by Impress Graphics NY.

Killer art deco graphics by the master, Erte. The design has a Persian Princess feel to it and I know that there are a lot of collectors for that kind of imagery. Printed on thick quality paper. It will be shipped in a heavy-duty tube.

SIZE:

20" x 30"

CONDITION:

No tears and no fading -- bright colors. This would be in such great shape if it had not gotten dented while in storage (it was stored flat). There are 2 dents in the silver on top and some lighter dents & scuffs inside the black circle. I put it up to the wall to see what would be visible once framed. In the black circle, the dents would probably not visible. The dents outside of the black might be if the light shines on it in just the right way. I hope that makes sense--please ask questions if it is not clear enough.

Guaranteed original.  This is an original PUCK magazine cover from November 21st, 1900.

"TAMMANY IS GREAT AND CROKER GETS THE PROFIT."

These magazine covers are superb lithographs and have retained the rich color saturation--like they were just printed. The artist's character drawings are about the best you will find.

A pompous pot-bellied Croker is smoking a cigar and wearing a silver horseshoe necklace; the horseshoe and 4 leaf clover design is repeated on his vest. He is holding a large knife labeled "Tammany Vote" behind his back and in the background, a hobbling William Jennings Bryan, wounded and on crutches.

MEANING BEHIND THE CARTOON:

Richard Croker, the boss of Tammany Hall, was not concerned about expansion of either the money supply through free silver or the American annexation of former Spanish territories. Instead, he was interested in electing Democrat William Jennings Bryan president so that the power of Tammany and Croker personally would expand to the national level.

SIZE:

Approx 10" x 13.50"

Note: This is the COVER only.

CONDITION:

Excellent with no damage, except for two 1/2" tears on bottom edge (do not go into plate) and not very noticeable. Very light handling wear.

Text on the reverse. It has been kept flat and in protective sleeves for decades.

Guaranteed vintage and original.

Puck (American Guilded Age Politics, Business and Culture): Puck holds an important place in the history of American satire. An Austrian, Joseph Keppler (1838-1894), moved to the United States in 1868 and within four years had become a leading artist for Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. In 1876 he became the founder, editor and a leading artist for his own creation, Puck. The periodical was initially meant to be America's answer to England's Punch, but under Keppler's astute editorship it introduced both art and articles of a much more biting nature.
