This is a great Margaret Keane Big Eyes print dating from the 1960s and entitled Circe. Whether that is the girl or dog, I don't know. It is really an evocative lithograph on board of a shapely pensive blonde reclining with a poodle by her side against a Hawaiian print background. This piece measures overall 26.75 inches high by 36.5 inches wide and is framed with an inch wide black painted wood frame. The image size is 34.5 inches by 22.25 inches. I got it from an estate in the San Francisco Bay Area that bought this from the Keanes (Margaret, I'm sure) in the 1960s. This hung in her bedroom. It has 3 small scratches on the frame--2 on the top and 1 on the bottom of the frame and corner scuffing and a .25 of an inch scratch on the print 9 inches from the upper right hand corner with a few tiny spots below the poodle. The print is mounted on board and was framed in the 1960s by the Custom Framed By A1 Paint & Art Company 368---- Redwood City, Cal. No area code or zip code which authenticates dating, who framed her other pieces. Unfortunately the foil sticker is gone. This is the last of 5 Keane's from the estate...the others were sold in our bricks and mortar antique shop. It is a great piece of 1960s art.   Original Vintage Lithograph Print dating 1948, (from stored envelope of series.) **Please note the envelope DOES NOT come with this print. ONLY shown as verification of date and series.**

**WE GLADLY SELL WORLDWIDE ~ JUST ASK FOR SHIPPING QUOTE!!**  Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ A Beautiful Arab Horse. Striking!

* Elegance and beauty, these are the characteristics of the Arab horse. It is small, compactly made and exquisite in outline, with a small head, delicate, tapering muzzle, arching crest and elegant proportions that, together with its long, silky mane and tail, make it the undisputed aristocrat among horses. The Arab is different from all other breeds, not only in general conformation but in its actual bone structure-it has fewer vertebrae in the back and tail than any other horse. Being desert bred, it is hardy and thrives on scanty foods and very little water. For centuries it has been bred by the Arab tribesmen who have kept its blood lines pure. They have given it every care and have regarded it with affection as a member of the family; so it is not surprising that the Arab has deveoped, in addition to its other great qualities, intelligence and a gentle disposition. *

We have obtained many works of art illustrations by the artist: EDWIN MEGARGEE. Artwork SIGNED on the lithograph print as the letters E M. These date 1946 from his collection titled: HORSES.

Lithograph print measuring 12-1/4 inches wide by 9-1/4 inches high. VERY SUITABLE FOR FRAMING.

Beautiful VIBRANT COLORING. NEAR-EXCELLENT CONDITION. Only flaw runs along the very, very bottom edge, a very faint outline of an old water stain. Can trim away approx. 1/4 inch, or matte around, since you have lots of bordering surrounding the artwork image.

Some acid discoloration on the backing board. Has a scratch that does not affect the image, just mentioned for accuracy. Beautiful scene of a large building with an ornate railing. Perfect for framing or gift-giving!  Neat original book illustration from 1885 edition of Picturesque Tours in America, the Junior United Tourist Club, edited by the Rev. Edward T. Bromfield, published by R. Worthington, NY. The date does not appear on-page but was present on the book's title page from which this came and we guarantee the age and what this is. The book was not in good shape so the good pages/book prints were removed and are being sold individually. Please see our other listings for the other pages available.

Measures about 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. This page has a picture on one side with book copy/words on the other side and a separate, smaller picture on that side. The main picture here is labelled at the bottom, "Yosemite Falls" which is a view within Yosemite National Park in California (CA). We are labelling this print "B" because there is also a second view of these falls which we are listing as print "A". On the reverse side is a smaller image which is also within Yosemite National Park and labelled "Vernal Fall". The Vernal Falls are on the Merced River. These images are black and white line drawings (not a photograph, no color on page). The view of Yosemite Falls shows the falls in the distance cascading down the mountsin with trees and a small campsite with people, a horse and a dog in the foreground. The view of Vernal Fall shows the waterfall in its rocky mountain setting. We have provided four images of the book page pictures, as best we could show them. Please note that the page is not "brown" as it seems to appear in the close-up picture. Sometimes to get the close-up details to be better visible we had to turn off the camera light (as it created too many white "hot spots" on the page in close-up mode). This permitted seeing close-up details but makes the overall page look falsely brown due to insufficient lighting.

Excellent condition for age. There is a small diagonal corner chip in one lower page corner and some onpage creasing in the margin areas, with possibly some other very minor page wear as expected, but nothing to worry about here. Page has likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges. At least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.

While this piece is still in usable condition for matting and framing, you need to know that this page has a diagonal tear which, from the topside of the mountain image edge, extends into the image itself, measuring in total about 1 7/8 inches long on the diagonal. There is also a second much smaller tear on the page side only in the white margin area, about 5/8 inch in length, and a third tear right along the bottom edge starting at the right corner in the white margin area, also about 5/8 inch in length. The page has likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges and also has a bit of onpage creasing. At least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.

These are black and white line drawings (not a photograph, no color on page), showing mountain views, with the Grand Canyon view particularly majestic looking, showing the river flowing between rock formations. Edward T. Bromfield, published by R. Worthington, NY. The date does not appear on-page but was present on the book's title page from which this came and we guarantee the age and what this is. Measures about 7 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches. This page has a picture on one side with book copy/words on the other side and a separate, smaller picture on that side. The main picture here is labelled at the bottom "View of Clear Creek Canon (Canyon), Colorado". On the reverse side is a smaller image which is also in Colorado and labelled, "Gray's Peak". These are black and white line drawings (not a photograph, no color on page), showing mountain views. We have provided four images of the book page pictures, as best we could show them. Please note that the page is not "brown" as it seems to appear in the close-up pictures. Sometimes to get the close-up details to be better visible we had to turn off the camera light (as it created too many white "hot spots" on the page in close-up mode). This permitted seeing close-up details but makes the overall page look falsely brown due to insufficient lighting.

Excellent condition for age. Page has likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges. There is very minor page wear including some small onpage creasing as expected, but nothing to worry about here. At least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.

Relative to shipping, please note: While this is a book page/print, this item CAN NOT be shipped via U.S.P.S. Media Mail per the post office. Please do not select this shipping option because we will have to contact you and change the shipping to something else, increasing your postage cost. The cheapest option for shipping this within the U.S. is via U.S.P.S. First Class mail. Measures about 7 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches. This page has a picture on one side with book copy/words on the other side. The picture is labelled at the bottom, "Silver Cascade". From the book copy on the reverse side, this is an image of the waterfall, Silver Cascade, which is in Crawford's Notch in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a lovely mountain scene with a brook flowing down a hill before cascading into a waterfall at the base. Nearby there are trees and rocks, as well as some people. In the lower left corner appears what may be the artist's name which we believe to be Tietze S. Measures about 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. This page has a picture on one side with book copy/words on the other side. The picture is labelled at the bottom, "Artist's Grotto, Catskill". From a bit of research, this is believed to be an image of a location in the Catskill Mountains of New York state near Palenville which is called Artist Grotto or Artist's Grotto. It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a large, overhanging rock formation with a brook or small river flowing through it. In the foreground there is a tiny waterfall on the river, with people, including one with an artist's easel who is apparently painting a picture. We have provided three images of the book page picture, as best we could show it.

In the lower left corner on the picture appears a name which looks to be, "H Baker Sr". We think this is a copy of a painting by this artist, as we have seen a similar image on an artist website. It appears this location was one of several favorite areas in the Catskills which Hudson River School Artists liked to paint. The book may be using a full or partial copy of a painting by this artist to illustrate it's discussion about the Catskill Mountains in New York state.

Excellent condition for age. Page has likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges. There is perhaps very minor page wear as expected, but nothing to worry about here. At least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.

From the book copy on the reverse side, this is believed to be an image of a brook forest scene in the Catskill Mountains of New York state. It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a peaceful little brook flowing through trees in a forest. We have provided two images of the book page picture, as best we could show it. Please note that the page is not "brown" as it seems to appear in the close-up picture. From the book copy on the reverse side, this is an image of the Palisades rock formation in the state of New York along the Hudson River. It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a neat river scene with a number of ships sailing on the river having the Palisades in the background. In the foreground are two people among other rocks and trees. We have provided two images of the book page picture, as best we could show it. From the book copy on the reverse side, this is an image of the Shoshone Falls or Shoshone Waterfalls on the Snake River, which is near Twin Falls, Idaho. It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a lovely mountain scene with trees, rickls and a partial view of the waterfalls. In the lower left corner of the image appears a name, which may be the name of the artist for this picture. It is hard to read, but we believe it may be Y. or X. Mexisam. We have provided two images of the book page picture, as best we could show it. Please note that the page is not "brown" as it seems to appear in the close-up picture. Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ SADDLE HORSE MARES AND FOALS.

A mare and her foal make a picture that no animal painter can resist. the mare, gentle, watchful, patient; the foal, wabbling on unstable legs, nuzzling its mother or capering awkwardly in a green pasture domed by a blue, cloud=flecked summer sky. In this country one can fine such a scene in any of the larger breeding establishments that are scattered from Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, and the famous blue grass country of Kentucky, to the western ranches.

We have obtained many works of art illustrations by the artist: EDWIN MEGARGEE. Artwork SIGNED on the lithograph print. These date 1946 from his collection titled: HORSES.

Lithograph print measuring 12-1/4 inches wide by 9-1/4 inches high. VERY SUITABLE FOR FRAMING.

Beautiful VIBRANT COLORING. EXCELLENT CONDITION. In the very lower bottom edge, a VERY, VERY faint water outline that is almost invisible, but mentioned.

**WE GLADLY SELL WORLDWIDE ~ JUST ASK FOR SHIPPING QUOTE!!**  Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ THE BRONCHO HORSE.

All western horses are often wrongly spoken of as bronchos. In the correct sense of the word, the broncho is an outlaw, a horse that will not be mastered, one that will continue to buck and fight all its life. These are the buckers seen at the rodeos, wild west shows and Frontier Day celebrations. The western horse bucks by instinct, because bucking, rolling and twisting were the surest defense against the most dangerous enemies of the wild horse, i.e. the panther and the jaguar, which dropped on the horse's back from a ledge of rock or leaped on it from the chaparral. All mustangs will buck when they are first ridden, but most of them soon realize the futility of struggling, and settle down to being good cow ponies. Not so the bronchos. The feel of anything on their backs shocks them into a frenzy of bucking; so they live and die outlaws.

**WE GLADLY SELL WORLDWIDE ~ JUST ASK FOR SHIPPING QUOTE!!**  Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ TROTTING HORSE RACES.

Harness racing is the proper term, but, by whatever name you call it, there is no sport that is more purely American. Early trotters raced under the saddle, as did the grey geling, Boston Blue, who trotted a mile in three minutes or less in the first trotting race ever held in this country (1818). The classic trotting race, the Hambeltonian, is held each summer at Goshen, New York, where it is witnessed by increasing thousands of spectators.

**WE GLADLY SELL WORLDWIDE ~ JUST ASK FOR SHIPPING QUOTE!!**  Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ THE HUNTER.

Thoroughbreds bred for size, strength and good jumping usually make the best hunters, but many a half-bred or even quarter-bred, with some good draft horse blood, has equalled the best. The horse shown here is an excellent type of hunter, with good bone but not too leggy, long sloping shoulder, plenty of heart girth, and powerful quarters and good hocks. He is clipped for hunting, only the hair on the legs and under the saddle being left long. The hair on the legs serves as protection from bushes and briars, and that under the saddle as a blanket or cushioning pad. The demands on both hunter and rider are considerably greater than those required for bridle-parts. It takes a horse of high courage to stand the extreme exertion required to follow the hounds.

Edwin Megargee Original Vintage Lithograph Print depicting ~ THE INDIAN PONY.

Great coloring in this print! An Native American Indian in full headdress riding his beloved Indian Pony on the green plains.

" For the Indians of the western plains, the coming of the horse brought a new mode of life. After they learned to catch and break wild horses and to hunt on horseback, they could move at will where game was most plentiful. Some of them, notably the Comanches, followed the buffalo herds until they had laid in their winter's supply of hides and dry meat, a custom that brought them into the hunting grounds and resulted in continual warfare. "

SERENDIPITY ON LINE ANTIQUE SALES  Neat original book illustration from 1885 edition of Picturesque Tours in America, the Junior United Tourist Club, edited by the Rev.

The main picture here is labelled at the bottom, "Mormon Emigrants on Their Way to Salt Lake City" in Utah. It is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a large group of men, women and children pioneers in mid 1800's clothing, travelling with wagons. The smaller image with book copy on the reverse side shows men working in a rock quarry which is labelled underneath, "Work and Faith. Mormons Working at the Granite for the Temple". We have provided 3 images showing both page sides.

Excellent condition for age. Page has likely darkened over time, with some browning at outer edges. There is very minor page wear, with a few small dark spots in the margin area, but nothing unexpected or to worry about here. At least one page edge has been trimmed where it was removed from the book.

This is a black and white line drawing (not a photograph, no color on page), showing a long distance view of the city, with a broad group of buildings with mountains behind them seen as a backdrop to a group of 4 children, probably boys from the clothing, shown lying on grass in the foreground. We have provided two images of the book page picture. Please note that this book page is not "all over brown" as it seems to appear in the images. We had trouble with the camera light when shooting this page and had to turn it off. The light was creating too many white "hot spots" on the page, sorry.
