Colour reproduction by East Anglian Engraving Company Ltd., Norwich. First published copy 1903. This edition with new reproductions first published 1987. This impression 1991. This Beatrix Potter softcover measures about 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. The cover has some creasing and corner bends. There are some water color spots on the page sides of this softcover. The inside cover also has a red water spot that measures about 1/2 inch. A child's name is written in ink on the first page. The remaining pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight.  This is the Doubleday Doran and Co., Garden City, 1932. Hardcover. Measures approximately 5¾" - 8" tall. First US edition, first printing. Navy blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and decorations on spine and front board. Some wear on spine cloth and board top edges but all gilt intact and bright; dustjacket with some edgewear. Front and back boards of the book do have some discoloration on the surface which does not extend to the interior of the book. Photos should illustrate the condition accurately. The gilt highlighting of the spine is bright. Book is tight and in good condition; I believe this dustjacket is called a Durafold mylar cover and it is in good condition for its age.

From what I could find on the internet, the US edition is much less common than the UK edition and the US limited issue of 250 de luxe copies which preceded it.

by Porter and Coates, Phila, PA  Just back from an incredible international buying excursion, I will be listing some great items of jewelry and collectibles over the upcoming weeks (and months). I was lucky enough to acquire some terrific and diverse items sure to appeal to anyone wishing to expand their personal collections! Click on my other auctions to view more of the uncovered treasures exclusively for my online customers!

This is an absolute treasure!! Measuring 3 1/8" by 2 5/8", this miniature memo book or pad has an original calender in the back page dated 1928. Hand painted on the front is "MEMO" and in raised relief in the center is a colorful parrot (maybe a cockatiel or cockatoo? Some sort of tropical bird).

The book is made with two bright green celluloid sheets held together with two black celluloid rings and small looseleaf notebook paper in it. Most of it is unsued, though a few sheets are written in with pencil. The last page is a dated 1928 miniature calendar, though I couldn't find any advertising or publisher's mark.

In excellent condition, the nice little book is precious and free of damage or repair. It's in excellent condition with expected yellowing and minor wear to the paper, a little cleaning to the front (sticker residue) would be good. Slight warping from the passing of many years has occured, but nothing detracting! I haven't seen anything like this online, so don't miss a chance to make a great addition to your collection of celluloid or bird collectibles. 	 FOR SALE IS THE BOOK: AMERICAN PREMIUM RECORD GUIDE, 1900 - 1965 BY LES DOCKS, PUBLISHED BY KRAUSE PUBLICATIONS IN 2001.  Wonderful, early Book entitled The Art Journal. Dated 1897 and published in New York by D. Appleton & Co. Inside cover says it's Volume 5. After going through it, just a superb Book with many illustrations throughout. There is literally almost an illustration for every page. I took just a few photos of the many that I could've taken to show you.

First couple inside pages list Engravings on Steel(31 Total), Engravings from Sculpture(5 Total) and Full Page Illustrations on Wood(4 Total). Listings correspond with Subject Name, Painter and Engraver. There is 380 total pages to this Book. For it's age, I would consider it to be in very good/excellent condition. Some light wear to the leather on the cover

but Book is very solid and completely intact. A few of the inside pages have some water stains at the bottom edge but it does not deter from the literature or illustrations. Also

there is yellow to the blank pages opposite the engravings. This is somewhat typical or common for Books of this age and again does not hamper the illustrations. Few back pages of the Book have some moth hole wear to the outside edge. Measurements of Book are about 10x13". Just a fantastic Book for anyone with interest in early Art, Sculpture or Architectual Design of the mid 19th century. Buyer to pay shipping & insurance.

Patterns of Living

 Foundations of Science

 Michael Chinery, and David Larkin

Some of the most rewarding studies of Nature are the interrelationships in the lives of animals and plants, and their varied adaptation to environment. The most typically important of these are outlined in this volume under 'Life in the Sea' (plankton, nekton, benthos, the seashore), 'Life on Land' (rain forests, polar regions, deserts, mountain life, communities of plants), and 'Life in Fresh Water'.

Then under 'Living Together' there are such subjects as symbiosis, food chains, scavengers and parasites. 'Anumal Behaviour' includes some of the most intriguing phenomena of Nature, such as regeneration, buoyancy mechanisms, colour change, hibernation and migration.

Greystone Press, 1966. Hard cover, with dust jacket, 7-5/8 x 10-1/2 inches, 128 pages.
