Story and pictures by Charlotte Baker

"Thomas Cat was a very satisfied cat, living with Miss Tansie who fed him blueberry muffins and cream puffs. He had no desire to go to sea, but Captain Crabbe, Miss Tansie's suitor of 20 years, needed a cat for his sailing ship to keep the rats away. As much as he disliked it, Thomas adapted to the ship and became its mascot. He saved the ship ... [a number of times]. ... When he got back to Miss Tansie there was a happy surprise waiting. Lots of adventure and fun." A delightful tale for the young reader.

Unlocking The Secrets Of Secret Societie

Think of it –- beer for 12 to 20 cents a bottle -– and the best beer you’ve ever tasted, tailored to the exact quirk of your tongue. This is the promise of author M. R. Reese -– and his directions deliver on that promise. When you flip the cap off a bottle of your own brew and taste it, you’ll never want to go back to those store-bought varieties.

It’s easy, too, says the author, taking three hours at the most for five gallons of beer! The hardest part, he notes, is waiting 4 to 6 weeks for the beer to reach perfection! You only need a few items of equipment -– many of which are already in your kitchen.

With the 19 recipes here, you can brew top-grade beer and ale -– American, Canadian or European style, from light beers to the heavier Irish stout -– and learn to vary recipes to get exactly the pleasant taste you want.

The 122-page softcover book was published by Garden Way Publishers, Pownal VT. It includes an index and is illustrated with many black/white photos. Condition is Very Good with only very slight edge wear to the covers. There are no apparent defects inside. (6635)

Read by Simon Vance who has recorded close to 300 audiobooks and has wonds numerous awards for his performances.

Perfect for the commute. You won't want to put it down.

MINT Condition, used once, LIKE NEW, original licensed packaging and CD's, just released 2/1/07. For the Record: This reader thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating true memoir.

Editorial Review reprinted below from Publishers Weekly: This unique first-person account offers a window into the mind of a high-functioning, 27-year-old British autistic savant with Asperger's syndrome. Tammet's ability to think abstractly, deviate from routine, and empathize, interact and communicate with others is impaired, yet he's capable of incredible feats of memorization and mental calculation. Besides being able to effortlessly multiply and divide huge sums in his head with the speed and accuracy of a computer, Tammet, the subject of the 2005 documentary Brainman, learned Icelandic in a single week and recited the number pi up to the 22,514th digit, breaking the European record. He also experiences synesthesia, an unusual neurological syndrome that enables him to experience numbers and words as "shapes, colors, textures and motions." Tammet traces his life from a frustrating, withdrawn childhood and adolescence to his adult achievements, which include teaching in Lithuania, achieving financial independence with an educational Web site and sustaining a long-term romantic same-sex relationship. As one of only about 50 people living today with synesthesia and autism, Tammet's condition is intriguing to researchers; his ability to express himself clearly and with a surprisingly engaging tone (given his symptoms) makes for an account that will intrigue others as well.

three of our family have been his victims; but the first blow was the most severe, the most unexpected. The dear aunt, who used to caress you so fondly, who always thought you superior to all other children, because you were mine, was cut off in the full bloom of health and loveliness.

She was taken from me at a time when my heart was withered with many sorrows,

but, blessed be God! Her warning was short,

but she died in the full assurance of a happy immortality.
