The Prince and the Pooch, Wishbone

by Caroline Leavitt

Inspired by The Prince and the Pauper, by Mark Twain

Joe Talbot thinks that coaching is easy. Then he fills in ass coach for the toughest bunch of players eh's ever seen --- a group of five-year-old girls! T-ball will never be the same.

This ppredicament reminds Wishbone of Mark Twain's tale, The Prince and the Pauper. Leaping into the story, Wishbone imagines himself doing double duty -- as a poor English lad who yearns for the easy life of a prince, and as the crown prince of England who yearns for the carefree life of a commoner. When they meet and trade places, the fur really begins to fly in an adventure that will take not one but two daring pups to tame!

Published by Scholastic, Inc., 1997. Soft cover, 5-1/4 x 7-3/4 inches, 144 pages.

Crease across upper corner of front cover, and last page. Otherwise very good.
