New Carols and Songs for Children

William Grime, ill. by Don Kelly

These songs are a remarkable combination of music and words which are eminently appropriate for worship, and yet completely within the capabilities of a primary or junior child both to sing and to understand. These songs face squarely all the implications of New Testament theology, drawing lessons, in a child's terms, from Jesus' parpables of brotherhood, love, and immortality. They present Jesus in His essential simplicity, at once God-like and child-like. They represent religious reaching at its most effective.

William Grime was Rector of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Great Neck, New York.

All About Archaelology

 Anne Terry White, Tom O'Sullivan

Of all the sciences archaeology is perhaps the most appealing. For archaeologists are in fact detectives, and we all have something of the detective in us. We like to work out puzzles and solve mysteries - which is what archaeologists do. They find clues and follow them, then reconstruct what happened and try to interpret its meaning. They try to find out the way our ancestors lived - how they got their food and built their houses and worked and fought. They try to learn about their skills, their trade, their travels, their fun. Above all, they want to get at the mind and spirit of Man. What did our dead-and-gone ancestors believe? What did the feel? What did they imagine?
