This is another vintage microwave cookbook that came out at the time when microwave ovens first moved from the heady realms of luxury into the area of practical necessity. This is CREATIVE MICROWAVE COOKING, written by Irena Chalmers, Richard Ahrens and Ruth Malinowski and published in 1976 by Weathervane Books.

The 144-page hardbound book is designed to offer recipes for quick cooking by the magic of microwaves. The oven is explored for its usefulness for speedy cooking in a cooler, cleaner kitchen; for defrosting frozen foods in a short time; for preparing an entire meal in a fraction of the time needed by traditional methods and eliminating the need for long-range meal planning.

The authors' purpose was to offer numerous cooking hints, along with special features. As a bonus, there is pertinent information on the oven itself, its history, how to use (and not use) it, and equipment needed for best results.

Recipes -- with clear, concise and easy-to-use directions -- are specially developed variations on old favorites, as well as flavorful new combinations! Even if you've used your microwave for years - here are some new ideas! And the photos make them all look tasty!

The book is in Very Good condition, with no defects we can find. The dust jacket is present and only shows some very light edge wear. Another nice gift possibility for your favorite cook! (1787)

Chicken has 'come a long way' and is one of the most versatile and economical meats you can buy, says the introduction of Betty Crocker's Best Recipes for Chicken cookbook, one of the 'Red Spoon Collection' of cookbooks published by Prentice Hall Press, New York. This is a First Edition.

Chapters include Chicken Basics, Stove top Classics, Oven All-Stars, Wonderful Roasts, Salads for All Seasons, Chicken with Pasta, Simple Soups and Sandwiches, and Red Spoon Tips.

More than 100 quality-tested reliable recipes are here. Of course, the book offers you the tastiest Sunday roast chicken, but you'll also find international favorites like Chicken Cacciatore, Chicken and Rice with Curry Sauce, Chicken with Golden Pilaf and Paella.

Plus, there are wonderful recipes for entertaining - Chicken and Artichoke Fondue and Coq au Vin … cozy, warming dishes such as Brunswick-style Stew and classic Chicken Fricassee with Chive Dumplings. As the authors note: 'Chicken never had it so good!'

One special feature shows easy-to-follow directions on how to cut a whole chicken into parts, bone chicken breasts, truss a chicken and carve a whole bird!

The 112-page hardbound book is illustrated with wonderful color photos and is fully indexed. It is in Near Fine condition no apparent defects! (1785)
