This HARD COVER BOOK is called the PICTORIAL ATLAS OF THE WORLD and was published by the GEOGRAPHICAL PUBLISHING COMPANY.

It features INDIVIDUAL MAPS of the STATES and descriptive information on the STATES, WORLD, and SOLOR SYSTEM.

The CONDITION is GOOD. The binding is strong. All of the pages are present. The pages have slight yellowing. There are some stains on the cover and binding.

Rand McNally's The Atlas of Mankind is a beautiful coffee table book which presents a magnificent global picture of the human race, its origins, its movements across the face of the earth, and its adjustments to the pressures of today's world.

It's far more than a catalog of social, racial, or cultural groups -- this atlas examines the very roots of human culture and explores the fascinating variations of social behavior. Making this possible are the book's elaborate cartography, information-packed artwork, and dramatic photography.

World maps draw on new information to chart everything from the state of the world's health to current patterns of religious belief. Regional maps show in detail the location of peoples and languages they speak, set against the backdrop of physical environment. Each regional map is accompanied by a secondary map which provides a full outline of man's use of the land, region by region.

Artwork amplifies the cultural story, taking in the key dates in 900 years of history and pinpointing each region’s religious and political makeup, as well as clearly portraying concepts of the cultural heritage of the region.

The hardbound book has 191 pages, plus a glossary, general index and index of place names. It was published in 1982 by Rand McNally, Chicago.

The book is in Very Good+ condition with no defects we can find on the covers. The front endpaper shows some residue from a removed bookplate. The dustjacket is present –- its price has been clipped and there is general edge wear.

Still, it’s a gorgeous book – and a great resource for anyone interested in our world and its people! (2146) Published by Scribner, Armstrong and Co. in 1867, this volume was part of Guyot's Geographical Series and is the "intermediate" book called "The Earth and it's Inhabitants". The volume features over 20 hand tinted maps of Europe, South America, Africa et al. Many in color lithography. There are also etchings featuring scenic wonders and wild life. There are two prefaces, one by Mr. Guyot himself and another by Mary Howe Smith, an educator from Princeton. Aside from the geography lessons, the back of the book contains a pronouncing vocabulary, a population tables, along with other statistics. As one would expect of any school book, especially one almost 150 years old, there is wear, especially to the corners, and a few minor tears...but all 118 pages are intact. The front and rear covers have the most wear and have become faded over time. The maps, are of course, the prime feature of this piece.
