This ancient coin was issued under Herod the Great, king of Judea under the Romans and one of the most significant figures in the New Testament.  It was Herod whom the Wise Men avoided on their return from Bethlehem, who ordered the massacre of the children of Bethlehem and caused Jesus to flee to Egypt.  This coin is authenticated to be over 2,000 years old!  It comes encapsulated and in a presentation folder.  Includes a certificate of authenticity from the American Historic Society.  This ancient silver coin is famous for its beautiful Madonna and Child image.  Hand-struck from 1540 through 1600 AD in what is now Hungary, it became one of Europe's most revered coins during Europe's late Renaissance Period.  The front depicts the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus; the back has the date the coin was struck.  This coin is authenticated to be at least 400 years old.  In comes encapsulated in a presentation folder.  Includes a certificate of authenticity from the American Historic Society.  The copper coin was the main form of money in the period of the Northern and Southern Song Dynasties.  The coins were complicated due primarily to their great variety and the vast number of names and titles.  Each emporer minted money not only after enthronement but also after the change of imperial title.  This copper coin has been authenticated to the Song Dynasty.  It measures 24mm.   In the Qing Dynasty, silver and bronze coins were used as parallel standards.  Those with large face value were in silver and those with small face values were in bronze.  Before the Quing Dynasty rulers conquered areas south of the Great Wall, they had already minted two kinds of bronze coins, the Ting Ming and the Tian Fu Lin.  Later Qing Emperor entered areas South of the Great Wall which initiated the outbreak of the 1911 Revolution and each minted a coin bearing his own Imperial Title. This bronze coin is authenticated to the Qing Dynasty.  It measures 22mm.

This magnificent ancient silver coin is over 1400 years old!  Khosru II, ruler of Iran and Mesopotamia from 591 to 625 AD, is immortalized on this 1400 year-old silver coin.  This ancient Sassanian Dynasty coin served as the model for coinage throughout Medieval Europe.  Khosru II is remembered for attacking the city of Jerusalem in about 600AD and stealing the cross on which Christ was crucified.  This coin comes encapsulated with a presentation folder telling the story of its history.  Certificate of authenticity.  A wonderful piece of history to hold in your hand.
