This item is a wonderful and vibrant Ganado Red Navajo rug done in the Storm Weave Pattern. The rug was woven by Margaret Marlene White of the Waterflow, New Mexico area of the Navajo Reservation sometime during the mid to late 1980's. There is a Spirit Line woven into one corner from the pattern to the edge of the rug. This was done by the weaver to allow her Spirit to leave this weaving and allow her to continue weaving additional rugs in the future. This rug is about 45 inches long and 32 inches wide. The rug is in excellent condition with a very tight weave and no signs of wear. The colors are vibrant without bleeding and the designs of the pattern are sharp and clear.  This item is an authentic Navajo Rug or Weaving. The rug is done in the Ganado Red style and is about 32 inches wide and 45 inches long. This weaving was done by Marlene White sometime in the 1980s. The rug is in excellent conditiion with a real tight weave and has vibrant colors with no bleeding.  This item is an older Native American Woven Basket. It was made by the Havasupai Tribe of Arizona. I don't know the actual age of this particular basket, but it does appear to be an older Basket. It is about 11 and 1/2 inches across and 4 and 1/2 inches high. This Basket has a woven geometric design and is in Fair condition for its age. It is being sold AS IS. The weaving around the top rim of the Basket has been damaged and is missing in a number of places, with the most extensive being about 7 inches long. At the bottom of the Basket, the weaving hasd become damaged and is missing from one of the basket's ribs (see photos).     This item is a Native American plaque or tray. It was made by the Hopi Indians of Arizona sometime in the 1970's. This colorful woven plaque or tray is about 10 3/4 inches across. The center design of the tray is two colored weavings in the shape of a circle with 4 protruding stubs. There is some wear and broken strands around the center of the plaque. Otherwise, it is in great shape.

This is s Native American plaque or tray. It was made by the Pima Indians of Arizona sometime during the 1930's. The plaque or tray is a multicolored weaving of concentric circles. It is about 8 inches across. There is a wire with a brass bead inserted in the center of the plaque. This was apparently done by someone who wanted to diisplay it on a wall. The wire and bead can easilybe removed withiut causing any damage to the plaque. There is some wear along the rim, but otherwise this plaque is in very good condition.

This is a great older basket made by the Papago Indians of Arizona sometime during the 1930's. The basket is about 3 1/4 inches high and 6 inches across the op. It is about 4 1/4 inches across at the bottom. It has five traditional Papago geometric type dark designs woven from Devil's Claw into it. The basket has two worn spots on the bottom, but otherwise is in excellent condition.  Beautiful Large Genuine Woven Wool Navajo Rug 65" x 45 ". There are no moth holes or frayed edges. There was some old dog urine stains that I have cleaned by hand. The smell is gone but there is a still some faint remnants of yellow stain. I am certain that the stains can come out with professional cleaning. In any event it is a wonderful high quality Navajo rug.  Most attractive postcard - real photo ( Kodak AZO) – depicting 2 young girls, sitting in a boat at the sea shore.

I think probably from the Chippewa tribe as it was from the Mille Lacs Lake area in Minnesota. Measures 9 in. diameter. A 6 pointed star with beadwork of crossed American flags and beaded loops surrounding the edge. One loop is missing. It needs a cleaning and does have a tear in the fabric on the back side. Decorated with abalone shell buttons, beads, Leather, triangular pieces and what appears to be a red vegetable dye painted design. The back has bent wood for frame and handles. In good, undamaged condition. I'm not familiar or knowledgeable enough to describe the significance of the decorations but this woould make a fantastic wall hanging. The tribe of Chippewa was predominant in my area of Minnesota so perhaps this is of their heritage? Acquired from an estate sale near Mille Lacs Lake, Mn. I think this would be from the 1940's era, perhaps earlier. Due to its size it must be shipped usps parcel post.  3 polar bears walk towards a seal lying on it's back [dead?]

Each has black paint details and all are mounted on a piece of whale baleen.

unsigned, but identical to a signed example with a paper attached stating it was carved by Alaskan Inuit sea capitan, Simeon Patkotak. Much information about Simeon is found on the internet.  I have a matched set of these but am selling them separate so if you already have one of them, you do not have to have a double. She has a small amount of paint loss that would be common with a piece this old. She has Japan impressed into his back. The colors are really good and the detail is also. She has a small factory hairline under her dress on the right side and is about 3 1/2" tall.

He has no damage and is about 3 1/2" tall.  I believe this bead covered gourd is Native American made. Perhaps sold as a souvenir? Possibly from the '40's-'50's era. Stands 7.5 in. tall. It measures approximately 4.5 in. diameter at the widest part. Beads are fine, tiny and all in good shape, I believe. Cork fits into the top so would have been a container for some kind of liquid.  Description: Authentic antique Ganado Navajo Rug that measures 59" x 32". It is hand woven wool. I have detected a two brown yarn in the white area that I believe are "Spirit Lines". They are usually a contracting yard that if found toward the border. I don't know the history of these extra threads. The overall condition of the rug is fair. I see no moth damage or fading of colors. The areas of damage are very repairable. There is some damage to the salvage edge some of with the weft strands. The one one of the ends there is some weak stitches. There are also a few spots here and there that are insignificant. I put in arrows on the pictures to point to the damage areas. And I have pointed out the "Spirit Lines".

carved in the 3rd or 4th quarters of the 19th century in Maine by Penobscot/Pasamaquody Indians for early tourist trade. Early clubs were chip carved fron grey birch roots like this one.

This club features a human like face carved below a bird shaped projection along with 2 other projections. Used mainly for ceremonial use as war with other tribes and the white settlers ceased many years before.

Tribal members still create clubs today but they are not anywhere like this example. The patina on this club is is very fine condition and the club may have never been handled for over 125 years.  Bernard Tuglamena Katexac, (1922-1997)

born on King Island, Alaska, resided in

Nome, Alaska

Bernard was a noted Inuit/Eskimo native artist. He did many beautiful drawings and created prints from same. He also scrimshawed walrus ivory.

This tusk shows many facets of life near and on the sea and depicts life as it was on the King Island. He shows whale hunting and butchering the carcass, seal hunting, crab fishing, walrus hunting, walrus in the water, sleding, a community house readying for a celebration and a view of one of the houses on stilts on a hill, so unique to the King Island.

signed and dated 1973

A little info on King Island;

The island is about 1 mile (1.6 km) wide. It was once the winter home of a group of about 200 Inupiat who called themselves Aseuluk. The Aseuluk spent their winters engaging in subsistence hunting on King Island and their summers engaging in similar activities on the mainland near the location of present-day Nome, Alaska. After the establishment of Nome, the islanders began to sell intricate carvings to residents of Nome during the summer. By 1970, all King Island people had moved to Nome year-round.

In 2005 and 2006 the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded a research project which brought a few King Island natives back to the Island. Some participants had not been back to the island in 50 years. The King Island Community eagerly awaits the projects results.

The island was discovered by Capt. James Cook in 1778 and named for Lt. James King, a member of his party. It is part of the Bering Sea unit of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.  Vintage Zuni Native American Indian Western Bolo Tie.

Hand crafted Western Bolo Tie of Native American Zuni Indian Dancer with inlay of mother of pearl, onyx, coral, turquoise.

Tips are decorated with circular rings.

Unmarked. Circa 1950s to 1960s, I believe.

Tie is Dark Brown leather. Metal seems to lightly attract a magnet, so plated probably steel. Tips are definitely steel.

Measures approx 1.5 inches tall X 1.5 inches wide.

Condition of metal is Nice with Minuscule signs of use. Leather does have a broken spot, with some missing leather, so cord does need replaced. I am no expert and not certain about the stones, they look inlaid, but may not be real stones.

Very pretty Western Dress Neck Jewelry to wear or add to a collection.  Vintage Sancrest Native American Indian Bolo Tie Silver.

A hand-crafted Native American design Western Bolo Tie. Full Native American Indian costume with headress.

Signed with logo, Sancrest with R below. Circa 1950s to 1960s.

Turquoise appears to be plastic, is not real stone. Metal appears to be Silver plated, as it is tarnished, but shines beautifully when rubbed with a silver cloth.

Tie is Brown and Tan leather, which does show rub wear from the slide, in some places.

Measures 3.5 inches tall X 1.5 inches wide.

Condition is good. Some cord wear. Appears that it may have been dropped. One leg is slightly bent and with magnifying glass, looks like there may be a tiny bit of silverplate missing. Tips are steel and have some age spots.

I think this wall pocket that is made of animal horn may be a Native American item. Perhaps Buffalo horn? with a woven reed hanger and overlay. Measures 15 in. long and the top opening is 4 x 2.75 in. In very good, displayable condition.  This unique bank is handcarved and displays what appears to be a swastika but I have been informed it is a symbol used by Native Americans, especially when accompanied by a leaf shape. This bank measures 6.75 in. x 4.25 in. and is 4.25 in. tall. The bottom needs some minor repair but the hand carving referred to as Tramp Art is in very good condition. Please view images carefully.
