We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Collector Bookstore Notes: This large format reference book details via close-up photography and detailed text the hundreds of antique doll items sold on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at an important Theriault's Dollmasters auction. Includes prices realized. Publishers Description: European collectors of fine dollhouses and miniatures were accustomed to see the familiar faces of Stefan Hogl and Juergen Suerig at auctions and private sales over the past 15 years, and a collective groan could be heard from competitive bidders who knew that the best and rarest would go to them. American collectors became familiar with them upon the publication of two recent dollhouse books, "Ormolu Dollhouse Accessories" and "Christian Hacker" by Swantje Kohler, in which their collection was prominently featured. Yet no one knew exactly how large and extensive their collection had become. All this changed on Sunday, January 9, 2011, when Theriault's Dollmasters conducted an important complete auction of "The Boys' Collection." This large format reference book details the items sold that day in stunning detail. Featuring 35 rooms, kitchens and stores from the Christian Hacker firm, well as a number from Moritz Gottschalk, May and Widmayer, Muehl, Kinder & Breit, Paul Hunger and others. In addition, there is a fine group of rooms and stores from the early Biedermeier period, French rooms, a wonderful collection of early theatres, and more. The rooms, stores and kitchens are, quite literally, filled to overflow with all those little objects that make a house a home and make a store worth visiting. Yet individual furnishings and accessories, too, are important in the collection, ranging from the rare and obscure ormolu pieces featured in the book "Ormolu Dollhouse Accessories" to the very rare set of white Boulle furnishings from Walterhausen, and the white Rock and Graner ensemble. There are quite easily hundreds and hundreds of the rarest of the rare in this category. And about that name, "The Boys' Collection." Somewhere along the line of collecting, the tag name just attached itself to the collection both in collector circle conversation and in the credit lines of books. It seemed appropriate, for this auction, to continue.  Army Doll never removed from the box marked U.S. Serviceman Memorial Collection for the Vietnam War, 1961-1975. He is a 12 inch tall, fully poseable man completely dressed in his service suit with an added vest and his helmet and dog tags. He comes with his authentic weapons. The box is marked 1996 Formatice International Co., LTD. made for K Mart. AS great, as found Army doll.  This collectible Gonzorgo plush doll from Walt Disney's Babes in Toyland was made Gund and is marked: Gund Mfg. Co. / J.Swedlin Inc. Licensee / 200 5th. Ave., N.Y.C. 10 N.Y. / Copyright Walt Disney Prod.

In 1961, Disney produced the Classic film Babes in Toyland. Tom the Piper's Son is about to marry Mary Quite Contrary. On the eve of their wedding, evil miser Barnaby hires two henchmen to drown Tom and steal Mary's sheep, cared for by Little Bo Peep, thus depriving Mary and the children she lives with of their livelihood, forcing her to marry Barnaby.

Other characters that were made into dolls and puppets are Mother Goose, Mary, Tom, Toymaker, Soldier, Cadet, Toyland Clown, Nosey Clown, and Silly Dilly Clown.

Since 1898, Gund has created huggable stuffed toys recognized worldwide for their quality and innovation. They remain the oldest and most successful soft toy manufacturer in the United States. Founded in Norwalk, Connecticut by Adolph Gund, the company was one of the first companies to design and manufacture teddy bears. The Gund toys tradition has always been to use the best materials and craftsmanship and to promote safety standards for their products, such as securely attached eyes for their plush animals that children could not pull out.

He led the way in the marketing technique of licensing cartoon characters for soft toy production. He was able to obtain licenses from Disney and King Feature Syndicate, to produce plush toys of the well known characters of Popeye, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat.

On July 1, 2008 Gund was sold to Enesco, a gift company known for among other things the Cherished Teddies line.

With a vinyl head and plush body he still has his original tag and ribbon tied bow around his neck. In very good condition without rips or tears, he is in need of a cleaning, which I will leave up to the new owner, and he measures 8 1/2 inches tall, 5 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep.

An addition to any Walt Disney or Gund Plush Doll Collection.

Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. This title displays hundreds of wonderful antique doll costumes, bonnets, shoes and accessories for antique fashion ladies and child dolls from the 19th and early 20th century. By Theriault's Dollmasters, includes a separate supplement for prices realized of these costumes at an auction held on October 24, 2010  This hand made Victorian Girl Caroler with a muff was made in Chalfont, PA. by Byers Choice LTd. and is signed: Byers 95 / #79/100.

She also still has gold disc on the bottom that is marked: Byers Choice Ltd. / The Carolers / 1995 / Chalfont, PA. USA.

It was the late 1960's and Joyce Byers, an amateur artist with a degree in fashion design, was disappointed in what she was seeing in the stores: aluminum tinsel trees with garish blue lights. She was looking for holiday decorations with warmth that showed respect for timeless traditions and her own memories of Christmas.

The first Carolers graced the Byers' dining room table that Christmas, and they received compliments from all of the relatives. On a tight budget, Joyce knew what to make for presents the following year. A neighbor suggested taking some to a local store, where they sold quickly. The store was part of a federation of Woman's Exchanges and introduced the Carolers to other exchanges around the country. Soon a couple of dozen stores around the country were asking Joyce to supply them with Carolers.

In 1978, the couple hired their first employee, and turned the garage into a workshop.

The unique appearance and handcrafted quality of the Carolers quickly gained a following. Each year, Bob & Joyce would work with their crew of trained artisans up until Christmas Eve putting the finishing touches on Carolers.

Together, the family now oversees a team of 180 artisans in Pennsylvania who handcraft those same creations that started out on the dining room table many years ago. And although the Carolers are sold in thousands of fine gift stores around the world, the company still holds to its starting roots: producing a quality product, at an affordable price, and dedicated to serving its customers and the community in the spirit of Christmas.

In a two-tone pink dress with white lace trim she has a crochet bonnet with a holly leaf.

In very good + condition she measures 9 1/2 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 3 inches deep.

Like most of those built in the following 250 years, it was designed not to be played with, but to be a perfect representation in miniature of a princely house, and to reflect the wealth of the owner. Although children began to play with dolls' houses during the eighteenth century, they remained primarily made for adults. It was only in the nineteenth century that they finally also became children's toys. This book outlines the history of these intriguing little buildings, with illustrations of some of the finest examples ever created.

In fact, one of the most fascinating of these, and one of the most popular, is itself a home. On the museum's third floor sits a five-story dollhouse donated to the museum by Faith Bradford, a Washington D.C. librarian, who spent more than a half-century accumulating and constructing the 1,354 miniatures that fill its 23 intricately detailed rooms. When Bradford donated them to the museum in 1951, she wrote a lengthy manuscript describing the lives of its residents: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Doll and their ten children, two visiting grandparents, twenty pets, and household staff. Bradford cataloged the Dolls' tastes, habits, and preferences in neatly typed household inventories, which she then bound, along with photographs and fabric samples, in a scrapbook. She even sent museum curators holiday cards written by the Dolls. In America's Doll House, Smithsonian Institution curator William L. Bird, Jr. weaves this visual material and back-story into the rich tapestry of Faith Bradford's miniature world. Featuring vibrant photography that brings every narrative detail to life, America's Doll House is both an incisive portrait of a sentimental pastime and a celebration of Bradford's remarkable and painstaking accomplishment.  Tall dark blond hair doll with beautiful victorian style dress, stuffed body arms and legs, the head, chest, hands and feet are ceramic.
