We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. "Barbie(TM) All Dolled Up" is a dazzling celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Barbie(TM) doll. Fully illustrated and featuring three-dimensional replicas of rare memorabilia, this unprecedented book truly brings Barbie to life in full-color, and fabulous style. With the full support of Mattel, the publication of "All Dolled Up" is a highlight among nationwide Barbie events and marketing initiatives being staged for the anniversary. In five decades, the influence of Barbie on girls and the world of fashion has never faded. Now devoted collectors, baby boomers reminiscing about the doll's classic beauty, moms still dreaming of the pink Corvette of the '80s, and children just discovering her will relive the magic of Barbie through key eras in her development--her debut in 1959, the Mod Era of the late '60s, the big, bold '80s, the Totally Hair '90s, and up to today. Original doll packaging, Barbie comic books, designer's sketches, and an official fan club membership card and welcome letter are among the rare Barbie ephemera that have been reproduced. The narrative combines historical detail with contributions from moms, daughters, and fashion celebrities including Diane Von Furstenburg, Christian Dior, Versace, Armani, Bob Mackie, and Vera Wang. It's Barbie doll's birthday and no one wants to be left out of the party!

Barbie: All Dolled Up (50th Anniversary $26.96

Adorable little doll whit real feather wings on her back. She is made of Bisque with glass eyes and eyelashes that look real. She has movable arms and legs. She has several marks but not that tell me who made her. She was made in 2000. She stands 6" tall.  Sven and Ollie’s sister is named Lena or so the story goes up north here. Or was that Sven’s wife is Lena? From the Scandinavians of the area we have all kinds of stories with Sven Ollie and Lena. Now a local area artist has made a doll to represent Lena. She is dressed in traditional Scandinavian clothing. Not certain just what her face is made of but it is hand painted. Clothing is hand sewn. She has a stand and the original tag on her wrist. So if you are never able to get to the far northeast corner of Minnesota, at least you can own a piece of the local folk lore.  She was handmade up here, Northern MN by a local artist. She is a representative of the old Scandinavian people of the area. I think she is Lena’s mother. She is missing her stand but this does not make her any less unique as all the dolls from North Country are.  This pair of Oriental dolls stand 9.75 in. tall. The wood base measures 6 x 2.25 in. They are playing instruments and have hard faces and hands. Not sure of the composition. Fabric covered. In very good, displayable condition. I believe they are from the 1950's era. Unmarked as to origin and maker.

CUTE BRINN'S DOLL, NOVERMBER CALENDAR GIRL MARKED 1991, MADE IN CHINA IN HER ORIGINAL BOX. SHE IS A SWEET, 8 INCH TALL GIRL WITH BRUNETTE HAIR, BLUE EYES AND GREAT COLORING. SHE IS DRESSED IN HER MATCHING HAT AND DRESS IN CHARCOAL WITH A WHITE COLLAR AND APRON OF WHITE WITH LOVELY LACE TRIM. SHE IS JOINTED AND COMES WITH HER OWN STAND AND WHITE SHOES. HER APROM IS EMBROIDERED NOVEMBER. SHE IS GREAT BUT BECAUSE OF BEING IN STORAGE, THE WHITE SHOWS SOME LIGHT SPOTS THAT SHOULD COME OUT. WE HAVE NOT TRIED TO REMOVE THEM AS SHE HAS NEVER BEEN OUT OF HER BOX. SHE IS AS FOUND.  PRETTY, ORIENTAL TWIN DOLLS ALL ORIGINAL, ATTACHED TO A STAND. THEY HAVE BLACK HAIR ATTACHED, FLAT TO THEIR HEADS, LOVELY MAKEUP AND WEARING THEIR CUTE, LITTLE HATS. THEY ARE DRESSED IN YELLOW GOWNS WITH GOLD BOTTOM TRIM AND MULTI COLORED BANDS AROUND THIER NECKS TO FRONT BOWS AND STRIPS DOWN THE FRONT AND ON THEIR CUFFS. NOTE THE BEAUTIFUL FUR EDGED FANS THEY HOLD. BOTH HAVE NICE GOLD AND PEARL DANGLE EARRINGS, WHITE BLOOMERS AND WHITE SHOES ATTACHED TO THE STAND. THE SET IS 11 1/2 INCHES HIGH, 11 INCHES WIDE AND 10 INCHES DEEP. THEY ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL SET.  This type of big-eyed, fancy coiffed boudoir doll was very popular with teenage and pre-teen girls in the 1970s. This double Asian girl doll set has no tags but those multi-colored large eyes are unmistakable - they're Bradley dolls with unusual dimensional hair eyelashes. I actually think these are a little older than the 70s due to their attention to detail and authenticity in the clothing and quality of materials used.

Mounted on a blue painted wood base, the Oriental girls are about 17" tall. One has short hair with a tied chiffon headband and has a neat woven rattan basket with red flowers slung over her back. The other doll is wearing a kimono-type gown with an apron and holds a smaller flower basket (currently pinned in place but should be held in her hands). She has a long braid in her hair tied with a red silk ribbon.

The dolls' bodies are stockinette-covered with poseable hands and arms. They both have long, thick dimensional eyelashes (not painted on) and their satin jacquard clothing is decorated with woven-in floral and Oriental symbols. The hairdos are in excellent condition with only a few strands out of place.

The dolls have no tears or staining but there are some minor issues with the glue that was used on the dolls and their clothing. Some areas have come unglued and left discoloration where the glue was. The most noticeable is to the turquoise vest where it was glued closed beneath the buttons. There's also some faint glue discoloration in the bodice areas, just below the hairlines, and one doll's finger where it was apparently glued to the back or shoulder of her friend. Two sleeves need to be re-tacked or glued at the wrists as they tend to want to slide up. The vest, sleeves and finger can easily be reglued or pinned to hide the discoloration, the other areas are very light and virtually unnoticeable.

Three Stooges Halloween Larry $24.99

Acclaimed doll-clothing designer Londie Phillips shares her secrets for creating award-winning costumes for eight beloved storybook heroines; Alice in Wonderland, Heidi, Little Bo Peep, Little Red Riding Hood, The Real Princess, Shakespeare's Juliet, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow White. She presents guidelines for designing three different styles of costume for each character - Classic, Old World and Twenty-First-Century Avant Garde - as well as pattern pieces to fit vintage and contemporary dolls in sizes ranging from 7 to 12 inches. "The majority of glazed porcelain shoulder heads were made from the 1840s through the 1930s by seven Thuringian porcelain factories. The factories include Alt, Beck & Gottschalck, Conta & Boehme, Hertwig & Co., Kestner & Co., A.W. Fr. Kister, C.L. Kling & Co. and Kloster Veisdorf. The facial painting found on the glazed porcelain shoulder heads made by each of these porcelain factories varies, and the difference is apparent when a group of chinas made by the same factory are placed together. If you look carefully at the painted eyebrows, eyes and mouths, you will see that the painting is remarkably identical on the heads made by each of the seven porcelain factories." - Mary Gorham Krombholz 2009  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Auction description: The pastoral scene conjured in the line from the Edna St. Vincent Millay poem seems appropriately apt for Theriaults Springtime catalog auction on Sunday, April 26, 2009 auction at the Hilton Hotel in Short Hills, NJ. A sense of innocence, of the unfettered freedom of wildflowers that nod in greeting to the rarified beauties of cultivated gardens or to baby lambs that gambol in the meadows, evokes childhood and our childhood love of our little play friends. In this mood Theriaults offers a springtime bouquet of dolls, a felicitous mixture of beautiful bbs and innocent cloth folk dolls, of tiny yet elegant all-bisque mignonettes and rowdy plump-bodied toddlers, of saucy studio cloth dolls and slender-bodied paper mache and bisque ladies whose perfectly-coiffed hair has never bent to Spring breezes in their more than 150 years of life though their proudly-held faces do, indeed, seem inclined to capture Springtimes promise. Featuring the Museum Collection of Gladys Lux, founder of Lux Center for the Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska, as well as other exceptional de-accessions from a well-known East Coast Museum, the important doll auction is as wonderfully inspiring as Spring itself. More than 300 fine antique and vintage dolls are featured, along with a garden of other childhood fancies and ephemera. Dolls are notable for their rarity and enhanced by original costumes. Bbs by Jumeau are wearing their original couturier costumes, and there are other superb bbs by Steiner, Schmitt and Bru. German bisque characters from the art character reform movement of the early 20th century feature rare models. A Kewpie collection ranges from rare all-bisque action figures to dinner services to large antique prints. Cloth dolls sweep the landscape, from a pair of wonderful Izannah Walker dolls (one from each Museum) to rare Martha Chase models, Columbia doll, and other folk models, to superb mint Kathe Kruse, the very rare Madame Paderewski doll and saucy Lenci ladies and children. Elegant 1870-era bisque ladies with fancily sculpted hair are rivaled by a collection of Martha Thompson works inspired by 19th century fashion plates. There are fine original Neopolitan figures, early wax dolls in original costumes, pretty all-original bisque dolls, French poupee ladies, 1860s era porcelain dolls with rarity features, dolls with trousseaux, and a pristine group of Vargas wax dolls. There is a wonderful French horse on tricycle, a collection of Lehmann tin mechanical toys, a collection of early French board games, two extremely rare early Magic Lanterns, and, of course, there is the lamb which, just like Marys little lamb, follows along throughout the catalog and will make you laugh and play. 2009  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Auction description: It was 1980 when Theriaults presented its first antique doll auction in Scottsdale. 28 years ago! Stuart was just 17 years old and had a full head of hair. Luke was 7, which is why the Oh, I remember you when comments still echo today. Mildred and Vern Seeley always sat front row and center. We sold our first Albert Marque doll there in 1983 for a then-shocking $38,000. In the spirit of that memory, Theriaults once again returns to Scottsdale on March 29 and 30 with Private Collections, the best of the best dolls from discriminating private owners and estates. During the past three years, Theriaults has been privileged to catalog the extensive and world class collections of Lucy Morgan, Geri Baker, Carole Jean Zvonar, Legoland Museum, Puppen and Spielzeug Museum and Madame Petyt. In so-doing we have realized the singular vision that frames each collection, whether achieved knowingly or unknowingly. But we also realize that vision characterizes the small collection as well as the large, that grand means more than volume, that the tiniest of collections, chosen with precision and clarity, is worthy of the designation world class. There are the wonderful dolls of the late Joan Hegg of Kankakee, Illinois, the collection of Sandra Hulbert of San Jacinto, California, an extraordinary early collection from the Albright family estate of upstate New York, and several others. Dolls, many bearing their award winning blue ribbons, range from superb French and German bisque rarities, including ten very fine examples of Bru bbs, to early paper mache, wax and porcelain including a signed KPM early bonnet lady. There are more than 20 rare model Door of Hope dolls, a delightful collection of rare Kewpies and all-bisque characters, rare cloth dolls ranging from early American to Raggedy Ann including several Vollands to 1930s studio, fine French poupes including wooden bodied and several smiling Bru ladies, French automata including a superb portrait Jumeau as drummer, wonderful miniature dolls including several fine original presentation boxes with dolls, a collection of maitresse quality doll furniture, four extensive Schoenhut circuses and a wonderful collection of rare Schoenhut model dolls, other early wooden dolls including five 19th century wooden mannequins and a superb carved Continental doll of the 18th century, and even a beautiful group of very desirable near mint portrait Cissy dolls in rare 1956 costumes by Alexander. More than 350 dolls will grace the runway of the March 29th Private Collections auction. We invite you to join us at this auction of world class dolls from small fine Private Collections. May it be the happy beginning or continuation of your own personal pursuit of treasures from childhoods past. Vision characterizes the small collection as well as the large, grand means more than volume, and even the tiniest of collections, chosen with precision and clarity, can be worthy of the designation world class. 2008

For years, doll and costume enthusiasts alike have seized every opportunity to view the authentic period ensembles created by John R. Burbidge, former bridal designer for the prestigious Priscilla of Boston. Originally inspired by the French Theatre de la Mode of the 1940s, Mr. Burbidge spent twenty-five years creating Les Petites Dames de Mode ("little ladies of fashion"). The resulting collection of Victorian and Edwardian gowns worn by 29-inch mannequins has been displayed in prominent museums throughout the country and was the subject of a video produced in the 1990s. Not until now has the entire group been presented in one printed volume. This book features every gown created by Mr. Burbidge for his celebrated collection in full-page photos, with close-up views of important details, accompanied by the designer's extensive notes on the creation of each piece. The story of high fashion during the opulent Gilded Age, this book is more than just another volume of costume history. It is also the tale of John Burbidge's adventure as a contemporary designer who journeys back to a wonderful era of fashion and, as he writes, "What I would have designed, had I been there." A foreword by costume expert Elizabeth Ann Coleman places the collection in historical context. Les Petites Dames de Mode: An Adventure in Design is an important trove of knowledge and beauty, which will be appreciated and treasured by doll collectors, costume historians, clothing designers and fashion aficionados.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. More than 100 beautiful Jumeau dolls in full color are featured in this exquisite art-quality book.
