Figurines: Hummels

What's New in the Collector's Showcase of Figurines: Hummels?
The Most Recent Additions to This Category are First!
Typical cute, well-done Hummel angel candle-holder. Angel is matte finish with sweet features, a green garment and what look like pink-tipped wings and shoes. She measures 2 1/8 inches tall; the candle is ¼ inch thick, red and original, slightly bent, but never burned. The angel plays a tan/pale yellow and black or dark brown accordion and appears to be singing.

The mark impressed under the glaze underneath is 1/39/0, with a very Small Stylized Bee in the V in a corner, with W. Germany written beneath, all in blue. TMK-3 was made only during 1960-72. Also known as Tuneful Angel, HUM 39, condition is good except for a bit of crazing under the shoes. This is another piece from Mom’s personal collection which she bought new.

Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority, with free Delivery Confirmation, 1 lbs. from 06068. #570

Goebel Hummel Friar Tuck pitcher with full bee over double V printed in blue, in an unusual size of 5 5/8 inches to tip of front of hat. Pitcher holds 12 ounces. In addition to the TMK2 within an impressed circle marking underneath, S141/1 is also impressed, and Germany is printed in black to the side. Friar Tuck has rosy cheeks, black shoes and looks to the left. There is a tiny ding in the rim near the handle, measuring only about a mm, of what looks like lost glaze. Other than a couple of scuff marks in the matte finish of his robe on the side, condition is nice. His white rope belt, white handle, and white interior are gloss. The rest is matte finish. Markings show better with yellow lighting; base is really white.

Apparently made only from 1950-1955, this is another cutey from my Mom’s collection which she purchased new, and which is now semi-antique!

This beautiful MI Hummel figurine, Stormy Weather, has the Stamped Full Bee mark or the TMK-2 on the bottom with the mold #71 / #30. My Hummel book, Lucky's Hummel Figurines and Plates Identification and Price Guide by Carl F. Luckey, says this mark was made from 1940 through 1956.

In 1934, Franz Goebel was searching for something new. Like his predecessors at the helm of W.Goebel Porzellanfabrik, Franz understood his market. He believed that in a world of political turmoil, customers would respond to a product depicting the gentle innocence of children. The artwork of a Franciscan Sister, Maria Innocentia Hummel, a gifted, academy-trained artist, came to Franz's attention. Her drawings of country children had been printed as art cards and were becoming quite popular. An enthusiastic Franz, with the approval of senior sculptors Arthur Moeller and Reinhold Unger, decided to pursue the creation of figurines based on the artwork of Sister M.I.Hummel. The new product line was launched in March, 1935, at the Leipzig Spring Fair a major show for the industry. The reception to the first M.I.Hummel motifs was enthusiastic. The line was an immediate success!

In very good + condition without chips, cracks or crazing they measure 6 1/2 inches tall, 4/2 inches wide and 3/8 inches deep.

An addition to any Goebel MI Hummel Figurine Collection.

SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions please contact me and thank you for looking.

This beautiful MI Hummel figurine, Trumpet Boy, has the Goebel Bee The Last Bee mark on the bottom, also referred to as TMK-5 along with the mold #97.
