6" tall x 7 1/2" wide, very good.  Offered is a 3' x 5' (approx size plus fringe) rug. Label-stated size is 2.10' x 5'; design is # 729; pattern is Serapi. Machine-made by Karastan from premium New Zealand wool, with an applied cotton fringe, these rugs are antique-washed to resemble the more expensive and scarce ancient hand-made orientals. Karastan is well-known for its impeccable interpretations of ancient oriental rugs, following their motifs and overall designs. This design was made from around 1980-1997.

The Serapi # 729 is no longer being made. Our rug is approximately 20 years old, having spent its life on moth-mildew resistant padding in Mom's living room. The main central color is a rich brick-raspberry red, with a navy blue medallion-ed border with other soft pastel compatible colors, such as sage, mauve, etc.

There are no damage or wear spots; colors are vivid; fringes are totally intact like new. There were no pets or smokers in the house.

This rug is like new and has a 9' x 12' brother which I would also like to sell. However, like most quality wool rugs, both are quite heavy. I estimate that this 3 x 5 is about 11 lbs., without packing; the larger one would be in the 80 lbs. range. I can pack and ship this smaller one by FedEx ground for about $65-80 which would have to be added to the cost. The larger rugs, obviously would be more costly. Both rugs are located in northwest CT, near the NYS and MA borders, convenient to highways, below the Berkshires, about 2 ½ hours north of Manhattan. A buyer would be wise to pick them up if possible, at which time he/she could look them over carefully. The larger one is the same pattern and condition, with a respective increase in pattern proportions. One photo shows the corner of both rugs on the wood floor edge. One photo shows the large rug in place…just a corner of the small one is seen on the left. The most accurate colors are seen on the close-up shots, one of which shows the back weaving and also the fringes . My camera did not take accurate color on the distance shots.

The price for the small one is $205. The price for the large one is $1,050. Shipping cost/s must be added before a sale, so contact me first if you are interested in one or both. 20 years ago, retail for these rugs new was well over $2,500, and is more than $4,000 for similar rugs at current rates for Karastan. # 535
