This is an extremely rare and fantastic piece of history from the middle part of the 15th century. This cabinet is originally coming from the Kingdom of Navarre. This area at the border between France and Spain has been disputed many times since the 9th century AD until the 16th and 17th century when it was divided between France and Spain. The Kingdom of Navarre was one of the route used by the pilgrims of the Way of St James to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the apostle Saint James are buried. The Kingdom of Navarre was actually the point of departure of the Camino Francès (the French Route) starting at Roncevaux. For different reasons, the Camino Francès became less popular by the pilgrims during the 16th century.

Such cabinets are commonly called Garde–Manger by the French, and were mostly used to store food. This large cabinet is a single piece of furniture combining 2 types of woods. The sides and main structure are made from oak while the façade is from chestnut. The façade is centering a pair of thick small doors, boasting pierced rose window pattern typical of this period and revealing a very large storage compartment. The fact that the doors are small and pierced is actually to prevent perishable from having too much light while being still slightly ventilated and kept fresh thanks of the thick main structure of the piece that acts a little bit as a cooler. The bottom is a shelf with a central hole, which was used originally for the mortar. Hardware is original, the famous Scallop Shell, emblem of St James, can be seen on the handles. Indeed several scratches, dents, cracks can be seen all around the piece due to the age but this piece is still very sturdy. Circa date 1450. Dimensions 57"high/ 53 ¼"wide/ 18"deep.

This is an extremely rare wooden Portrait of Martin Luther (10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546). Luther was a German priest and professor of theology who initiated the Protestant Reformation. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God's punishment of sin could be purchased with money. His refusal to retract all of his writings at the demand of Pope Leo X in 1520 and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms in 1521 resulted in his excommunication by the pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the emperor. This portrait was made as a tribute after his death.
