I purchased this bowl in the mid 1970s prior to the 1980s takeover of the Company by the Thos. Webb Group.

Purchased in 1975 to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States 1776-1976 celebration, this mug was a limited edition of 3,000.

It is based on Paul Revere's engraving of the snake menacing the British Griffin for the masthead of the patriot newspaper "Massachusetts Spy". The snake, composed of the first letter of each of the founding colonies, is based on the earlier (1754) "Join or Die" cartoon designed by Benjamin Franklin emphasizing the need for the colonies to join together.

The mug which measures 4.25" high, 3" diameter at top, and 3.25" at base comes in the original box (which shows some age), but the mug is MINT with original Stuart Crystal sticker and certificate. A wonderful Bicentennial item to add to a collection!

Hand Made Green Tear Drop with black swril lines Paperweight. Measures approximately 5 inches tall by 2 inches round comes with original stamped on bottom and Sticker label. Langham Glass is situated at a collection of 18th Century barn workshops in the lovely North Norfolk village of Langham. There they are making handcrafted glassware but also learn about and see how glassmaking is done. Learn about the unique history of Langham glass and watch the Master Glassmaker’s at work.

Glass is made from sand. However, for the top grade crystal we require at Langham, special high grade sand was used. To this sand was added lead oxide to create the lead crystal. Also added were soda, potash, and small quantities of other chemicals to assist the melt and establish the quality of the glass. This mixture is then known as 'batch'
