Glass: Victorian-Era Glass

What's New in the Collector's Showcase of Glass: Victorian-Era Glass?
The Most Recent Additions to This Category are First!
Antique Victorian glass syrup pitcher with pewter lid. c:1883. The interior of lid reads: Patented Mar. 20, '83. It is 7 tall x almost 4 inches wide at bottom. There is a 1.5 inch line in the glass near the center; it is not a scratch or crack; it is a glass flaw/straw mark, see pic #8. This pitcher a pontil mark on bottom. The paattern might be called quilted diamonds? Overall it displays fine; you won't see the line unless staring at it up close. Lid rim is a bit irregular also. 2/1smc  This lovely cranberry blown glass candle holder is Bohemian glass and dates from the late Victorian period to the very early 1900s. It's 7-1/2 inches high by 4-1/2 inches diameter at the base. It's decorated with gold gilt flowers, leaves, and scrollwork though the delicate gold trim does show considerable wear. There is a long popped surface bubble up inside the base just below the bulb of the stem, visible in the last photo. This is from manufacture and does not affect the appearance or functionality of the candlestick.

This opalescent blue glass tumbler was made by Northwood Glass Company in 1902 or 1903. The pattern name is Poinsettia, also known as Big Daisy. The tumbler measures 2-7/8 inches high, just over 2-3/4" diameter across the rim, and 2-1/4 inches diameter at the bottom. There is one shallow round bruise nick at the rim, less than 1/4 inch at the widest point, no other issues.

This butter dish is believed to be made by the McKee Glass Co. at the turn of the century. It is clear with starbursts in the pattern. The bottom is 7" across and the lid is 6" hign. There is a crack in the bottom. This item would make an attractive addition to your hutch or china cupboard.

Blue Glass Decanter with the Stopper and an opalescent glass top. It has the lovely shaped top with the blue glass applied handle and the pretty white flowers patterns spread all through. The stopped may not be original but fits well and is a great fauceted glass stopper. It is 7 1/2 inches high and 4 inches wide. Sold as found.  This unusual bowl has three feet and the sides are straight down. It is pressed glass with some "cut" glass areas. There is a large daisy cut above each foot and a cross-hatched area with dots in between. There is a large 3 petal design in the bottom. At first, I thought there was a chip on the bottom, but it is not sharp, maybe it was a bubble in the glass. The bowl is 4 1/2" from foot to top edge and it is 7" across. This piece would make a good centerpiece with fruit or flowers.  This relish dish was made by The Imperial Glass Co. in the early 1900's. The NuCut label was used to identify the cut glass look alikes they produced. The glass was made of non-iridized crystal. The item was pressed and then filed to create the cut glass look. The dish is 7 3/4" long by 4" wide by 1 1/2" deep. It has a sawtooth border. This is a wonderful find and affordable.  Green Glass Tumbler with a Decal of Prospect Point Niagara Falls that has hand painted enameled flowers along with gold gilt circa early 1900s. The Decal and hand painted enamel are in good condition, with a fire polished bottom that does have some table wear. There is wear to the gold gilt being mostly contained to the rim. A scratch is shown in the pictures along with an open inclusion bubble near the top of the glass rim. There are no nicks or chips but the open inclusion bubble you can feel the edges. There are several other inclusion bubbles and they are very common for glass wear at that time period. This piece is approximately 4.50 inches tall, bottom rim is approximately 2.25 inches in diameter and the top rim is approximately 2.75 inches in diameter with the glass being crisp and clean with no sickness or cloudiness.

This item is a lovely Burmese Glass Syrup Pitcher made by Locke and Company, Worchester, England between 1901 and 1902. This Syrup Pitcher has a wonderful floral drape design on the glass body and an electroplate hinged top and handle. This Syrup Pitcher is about 7 inches high. The metal top is marked EPNS and A1. The bottom is marked Locke and Co, Worchester, England. This Syrup Pitcher is in excellent condition without any chips or cracks.  Antique pressed footed celery vase, Arched Leaf ? $66

This impressive Antique pattern glass footed celery vase resembles Arched Leaf from 1870’s, but it has a knobbed stem above the foot which may mean a variant, or another maker. It is also similar to a piece by Edward Moore, UK, same era, but again, slight difference, this time in the foot pattern. My guess would be more likely UK, since there is a subtle scallop along the rim of the foot. The glass is brilliant, measuring about 8 ¾ inches in height x 5 ¼ inches across the top. There is light base wear consistent with age, 2 bruises under the foot with short radiating cracks and one small chip to a top point. Tall and elegant, with a nice symmetric flare to the top, this celery is quite heavy. Buyer to pay for shipping by USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, 5 lbs. from 06068. #482

Fushia Etched Decanter with grapes and leaves, stopper is diamond cut. It measures 9 1/2 inches tall. Stopper and decanter is in excellent condition.  Glass Bon Bon Dish, very elegant in excellent condition. It has a great handle, nice saw tooth type rim and wonderful designs. It is 2 1/4 inches high, 7 3/4 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Just lovely and quite heavy.

This item is a wonderful and unique large Victorian Art Glass Vase set atop a square marble base. It was probably made sometime around 1900. The Vase is encased in intricate cast bronze metal work which holds the delicate milk glass vase above the marble base. The Milk Glass Vase has a bulbous bottom extending up to a flared and fluted rim. This Vase is about 10 and 1/2 inches high, 6 inches across at the top, 3 and 1/4 inches across at the bulbous part of the glass Vase, and 4 inches square at the marble base. The Glass Vase and the bronze casing are in excellent condition without any chips or cracks. The marble base does show signs of wear on the corners which is consistent with its age.  Age unknown, possibly part of a Victorian Vanity Set.

Hand Blown Translucent Light Blue Glass similar to Delphite. Decorated with white enamel dots.

Top is slightly uneven, with pronounced scallops which fade to nearly straight on one side. Has Pontil on bottom, which looks as if it might have set into something else, as if it was a lid.

Measures 4 1/2 inches tall X 3 3/8 inches diameter at bulge, and 2 1/2 inches diameter at base.

No chips, cracks. Does have dust and some stains inside bottom. The enameling has rubs and has lost gloss.

Would make an elegant Dresser Vanity Decorative piece and would hold several flower stems when used as aBeautiful Bud Vase.  Gorgeous antique castor set. Well hallmarked on the mustard jar and other shaker. The hallmarks look like EP inside a crown that is inside a larger crown. There is an S and 3 other hallmarks. The stand is 10.25 tall; and has a lion head on the handle. Bottom has incised W on it. The bottles all match; no visible chips or cracks. One cruet has a tiny fleabite on bottom of jar. These are either cut glass or crystal, not pressed. The stand has some tarnish on the interior of it which really doesn't show when bottles are in it. This one is in about the best antique condition I have come across. The jars are usually mismatched or cracked, chipped, etc. Perfect to use or just display! 1/11antmc  Pink satin glass gourd shaped perfume atomizer with original atomizer parts with the exception of the bulb. The bottle is 6 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches in diameter. There is no pontil mark.

This gorgeous crystal pattern glass pickle castor measures 10 1/2" tall. It is listed in The American Pickle Castor (Bernice Thach)as maker unknown but most likely Canadian.

It has three scenes - one of a castle on a hill, one of a mill with a water wheel and one of a man in a boat - quite unique!

The glass is clear and clean. There is minor roughness along the upper rim seam and a 1/16" flake on the inner rim. The stand is triple silver plate by B.Strickland & Co. of Albany, NY and the fork is marked W.R. with a small cross.

Reverse Painted Glass Civil War Serving Tray in excellent condition for its age. Metal edging that appears to be Pewter in color but is not marked. Minor wear to both the painting and the metal edging, so do not expect a perfect piece due to its age. We tried to take the best photos possible so you could see the imperfections but we did experience difficulty with glare and is why some photos appear to be on an angle. The painting itself is set in center oval with a black background and quite beautiful. Lovely Southern Belle carrying open parasol holding roses. Field of flowers, trees, and lake in the background. She is outlined in gold accents. Beautiful face with hair done in long finger curls.
