This is an opal glass or milk glass lidded dresser box or jewelry box made 1898-1904 by C. F. Monroe, USA in the line called Wave Crest in the Helmschmied Swirl shape with hand painted forget me nots. The box has brass fittings which work well and measures 2.75 inches high by 3.5 in diameter with a clean interior. There is some piant loss from use, but still a lovely example of an undervalued glass company.  For sale is a Wavecrest ferner. Item is marked on the bottom with a faint stamped black mark. The ferner measures approximately 8 inches wide (the widest) and stands approximately 3 1/2 inches (to top of metal rim). The ferner dates to approximately 1900 and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Shipping with insurance will be $20.00 in the Continental USA.  Letter Box, Opal Glass, Brass Collar, C.F. Monroe Co. This beautiful old letter box is 5 3/4" high, 4 1/4" wide and 3 1/8" deep. The opal glass is decorated with a lovely floral motif of soft blue/purple flowers with accents of pearly white centers laced with faint gray and brown vines in the background. The beaded brass collar has raised scrolled sides. The brass is in good condition; it just shows some minor discoloration due to its age. The piece is signed on the bottom with the Wave Crest CFM Co mark. A lovely piece for anyone who collects vintage glassware.  Offered is a Wavecrest Helmschmidt Swirl Dresser Box. The box is not signed but the pattern is pictured in the Wavecrest book. The box measures approximately 3 1/2 inches in diameter x 2 5/8 inches tall. The box is in good condition. The base has been reglued to the metal. Towards the hinge in back a minor what I believe is a factory chip on the inside can be seen. Not noticeable but included for accuracy. You cannot see it from the outside. The enamel is in good condition with only minimal wear. Shipping and insurance with handling is $12.00 in the Continental USA.
