This specimen is a wonderful example of Victorian design with its S shaped handle. The peeler is stamped with the name "Little Star" Pat’d June 9, 1885 - C. E. Hudson Co. Leominster, MA. This was one of the first peelers that had a blade that always faced the fruit for better peeling. The peeler stands 6 1/2" high when mounted to a table and has a length of 7 3/4".  This is a very nice Straining spoon in Excellent condition. This specimen has the beautiful patina of well used old steel and presents very well. This is one of those early kitchen utensils that is just as handy today as it was 100 years ago. The strainer has an overall length of 15" and has a bowl diameter of 3 5/8". This is the perfect addition to any chuck box or vintage kitchen.  Here is a nice Holt’s Egg Beater in good condition. This beater spins freely and is ready to go to work in your vintage kitchen or primitive camp. The crank wheel is stamped " Holt’s Egg Beater Pat. AUG. 22, 1899 APR 3, 1900." The beater measures 10 1/2" in length with a wheel diameter of 3". These are getting to be increasingly difficult to find.

Nifty vintage kitchen collectible or utensil, a large strainer with a detachable center section which rotates to sift (dry ingredients), beat or mash (fruits & vegetables) what you put in this. We have seen this referred to as a revolving strainer and hand beater or a crank strainer basket or a rotating food mill....whatever it is called, it would have been quite handy!

Measures about 14 inches greatest length from outer tip of two metal "ears" to bottom tip of handle, ears would permit resting this on top of a bowl or container; we do not have such container. Wire mesh strainer measures about 6 1/8 inches in diameter and about 3 inches in depth; full depth to piece including to top of handle is about 5 inches. Has single rotating sifter/masher blade (we have seen some of these with a double blade; we think this may be an earlier version). Fully metal piece with nice red wood turn handle. Handle itself can be spun and moved easily on its metal holding peg but is not detachable. Entire inner metal rotating portion clamps onto wire strainer basket part via hooking onto the top between the "ears" and then pushing into open handle to clamp firmly...holds nice and tight to strainer when clamped. While the center can be rotated within the strainer as intended it "catches" in one part when being rotated....it can be moved past this part but needs a bit more effort to "pass" in one spot. While most of the strainer portion itself does not appear dented or misshapen, there is some bumping near the top of the strainer (probably due to use and/or dropping at some point) and we guess that this is causing the catching up on the rotation. One could likely manipulate the strainer to smooth this out and relieve the "catching" but we are not going to do this; we are selling as is as found and you can make adjustments should you choose to.

We have provided 8 images to show from varied angles and as separate pieces. We can see on the flat metal near the base of the handle that this piece has been stamped with manufacturer marking. There is a lot of rust spotting in this area, but we can make out "Made in United States" surrounding a diamond with what looks to be "& J" within the diamond. While we can't fully read the single letter which preceeds this, we believe it to be "A & J" within the diamond of A & J Manufactuing Company who is known to have made this piece (and used the diamond mark). Based on some research, we believe this kitchen utensil was made between 1909 and 1929, although we can't guarantee that. A & J Manufacturing of Binghamton, NY appears to have functioned as it's own company between those dates, after which it was sold to Edward Katzinger Company or Ecko Group Inc., which used the acquisition to enter the kitchenware business. At the time it was purchased, A&J was the largest producer of kitchen tools in the U.S.

Very nice old used condition. In addition to what is noted above, we do not see any breaks, cracks, or missing pieces on this piece. There is a lot of expected age/use wear via darkening to the metal and lots of tiny rust spotting/darkening dots throughout the removable crank piece. The red wood handle itself does not seem chipped or cracked but shows expected use wear via spotting/pin dots, scraping, scratches, etc. This piece looks as one would expect of a vintage great kitchen collectible that was used, and we find none of this objectionable with all of it adding to believeability of age, but you need to know this does not appear shiny and new.

A great addition to any collection of antique or vintage kitchen items, kitchen collectibles, kitchen utensils, as well as a collection centering on strainers, grinders, mashers or the like.

Please note that we have many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you).     This is a real fun collectible, the Ovaltine drink shaker in very good condition.
