Library and Office: Bookends

A really neat Deco bookend. I cannot find a signature, but the identical picture of one is in a book on Antique Bookends, and describes this one as: Double Scroll 5 in. wood, copper, steel and plastic. 1936 Revere Copper and Brass Co. Since there is green felt on the bottom, possibly the signature is under the felt. This bookend has been used, there is some white paint missing from the center piece (easily repainted); and a few scuff marks on the copper and steel which probably can be buffed out. They all seem minor for the type of item as a bookend. There still is good spring in the scroll ends of the bookend. The overall measurements are 5 in. high, and the bottom base measures 6 in. dia.   This is a very neat item, probably a letter holder as it isn’t too wide, but still can hold a book or two. Silver colored metal, a pair of figural horse heads with bridles on a base. They measure 5 ½ in. high to the top of their ears, 2 in. wide and 4 5/8 in. long. There are some scuff marks and minor spots of missing finish. They are signed on the bottom, I P C, Goshen, Ind.   A pair of brass duck head bookends. Tall, heavy and regal looking, they really do their job well. This particular pair has a label on the back which reads, Jehvani Corporation, but I have seen others with different names. They measure 6 ¼ in. tall, 2 7/8 in. wide and 3 ¼ in. long. They have a few scuff marks on them. They have a black rubber bottom.   Beautiful raised figures of a man and woman who are bent over in prayer against a solid background. There is a pitch fork on one side, a basket of food in the center, and off to the right is a wheelbarrow. The base of the bookends is entitled, Angelus. They are signed on the back, L.D.B. Co., and measure 4 5/8 in. high, 2 ¼ wide at the base and 4 7/8 in. long. There are a very few scuff marks on them, but otherwise in very good condition. They have an orange felt bottom.

This is a lovely vintage sets, each has a large sailing ship with waves lapping around the base of each ship. They are 6" tall 6 1/4" long by about 2" at the widest point. They are both in good condition, have a sort of dull gold finish on the front, wear to the paint in several places, could be repainted if desired, only the paint is worn, the metal is not damaged. The backs have darkened with age, you can see the shinny copper color in spots underneath this, I know nothing about cleaning these so that will be up to you. One still has the original green felt base, one does not, so you would probably want to replace these, both are marked on the back bottom corner with the Bronze Art mark. they would be a lovely addition to your collection or decor!  Antique bronze clad dog bookends. Titled: 'Man's Best Friend' and shown in the book. Rarity 5 out of 5. Wonderful patina on this pair; one dog has some missing metal on the background area under the dog and near its leg see pic #5 which is not uncommon for 'clad' metal and it is not very noticeable or bad. They are 7 long x 5.5 tall. I did not clean them; just dusted them lightly. Nice dark aged patina on them. Great gift idea! USA only. 5/08#2064esa  Nice Victorian antique metal paper holder. (letter spear). No maker's marks, but has very nice detail on it. Good antique condition. vtgrat3.07  Pair of vintage Native American iron bookends. (bronze finish). Incised mark: A.C.W. Co. #304, #9. They stand 3.5+ tall x 4 wide. A tinge of rust on backsides, but nice display and usable condition. The will fit in quite nicely with southwest or mission style furnishings to hold your smaller antique sized books up!

Antique Paper Holder $35.00

Vintage Native American Iron Bookends $75.00

Vintage decorative chalkware bookends. These feature floral pictures; not sure if they are hand painted or paper mache. These bookends appear fairly old; there is some striation on the pictures, and there is a very old paper label on bottom, (this label is similar to a label found on some of my antique celluloid boxes I have sold previously, and I believe is Italian). These stand 6 tall x 5 wide. One has a chip off a front bottom corner edge, (dab it with antique gold paint), and other one has a tiny fleabite near top rim, [pic 6 & 7]. Chalkware items are prone to flaking and chipping, so these are what I would consider 'good vintage' condition despite the flaws.  Vintage Bradley & Hubbard letter holder and Sherman calendar. c:pre 1940. Nice, heavy-duty brass letter/paper holder with incised mark on bottom: Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. Co.; it is 5.25 long x 3.5 tall x 2 wide. Good overall vintage condition with a couple of spots of tarnish. You also get the nifty desk calender with purchase. Not a B&H, but has an old paper label on bottom: Park Sherman Co., Springfield Ill. Note the old State abbreviation. The turn knobs are brass and it works fine. Looks crummier in the pics than it is in reality. Great old accessories to adorn a desk or secretary in the office or library!  Vintage postal scale. Vintage Postal Scale. I D L Mfg. & Sales Corp., New York. Looks like early 20th C, maybe even earlier. It is 6.5 tall x 3.5 wide. Front portion with zone rates, etc. is in good display condition. Bottom metal stand, (tin?) is a bit rusty. A very cool item you can still use to weigh letters; or just as an accessory item in your home or business office! #9562/05dlr  Vintage Austrian brass scale. It looks quite old, and I believe this was used to weigh letters/postcards, etc. It is in good working and display condition, and is marked on back: O.E.S.T.P. 1766 AUSTRIA. Not sure if the 1766 is a year mark or a model number. If it is a date mark, then this is worth a lot more money that it is listed for! It stands 6 tall x 3.5 wide. Goes up to 4 ozs. It is very lightweight. A great accessory item to display on your antique writing desk!

Backside reads: 'The Angelus Call to Prayer', copyright 1928; triangle in a circle symbol. One of the bookends is more of a reddish color on front; other is brownish; aging/fading. These stand 5.25 tall x 4.25 wide.  Vintage Ceramic Poodle Bookends w/ Pen Holders. This cute bookends are 6 inches tall, were made in Japan and are in excellent used condition.
