It has, what appears to be, original red paint on the frame and leather on the bottom. The spring mechanism works well but the cover has metal on the bottom and it hangs up on the well.  Fancy vintage brass inkwell. It has a brass removeable insert. No maker's mark on it; looks like it dates to the 1920's-40's; some patina on it. It is about 9 inches long x 2 tall. Makes an attractive desk accessory.  These are pottery quill holders in the form of sheep with a white pebble finish, reclining on a blue base. Hand-painted, there is a gold line on the front of the base just below the quill hole. Each piece measures approx. 3 1/2" across by 1 3/4" deep and 2 3/4" tall. They are both marked " Stoke on Trent, England" on the bottom,

which I would probably date to the early twentieth century. They are in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs, just some general mold flaws, common to Staffordshire pieces.
