Two Brass Bells both with nice rings.

The first one has One and All written just below the emblem. The other one is plain and still has its Japan tag on the inside near the ringer.  Bell in Red Glass made especially for the U.S. Bicentennial. It is in the lovely red glass with white printing, white liberty bell and designs. It has gold trim on the handle, bottom and decorating lines and the gold does have wear, mostly on the handle. It is 5 1/2 inches high and 3 1/2 inches wide. It is in great condition and a very pretty and different bell to find. Sold as found.  This was acquired in year 2000. We loved it because it was such an unusual shape and design. Made of metal, it does have a lovely sound when rung. There is a little ringer that hangs from either side to use to ring the bell. Decorated with what looks like Phoenix Birds on each side above the bell, we believe it was probably made in Japan. Would make a very nice gift for someone that loves to entertain.  Glass bell with a pretty etched design. It is made of a clear glass and is in wonderful condition. It is 5 1/4 inches high and 2 3/4 inches wide.

The Gorham company was founded in 1831 by Jabez Gorham. Initially, Gorham manufactured only sterling flatware and holloware. Later, from 1970 to 1984, the Gorham Division of Textron, Inc., made fine china dinnerware in Pasadena, California, at a plant formerly occupied by Flintridge China Company. Gorham purchased Flintridge in March of 1970 and for few years continued to make some Flintridge patterns. Eventually Gorham began producing their own china designs many of which were made to coordinate with their sterling silver patterns. In 1984, Gorham ceased manufacturing its own china and began importing it from Japan. In the early 1990s, Lenox, Inc. of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, purchased Gorham and continues to make various Gorham China patterns today.

Norman Rockwell was born in New York on 3rd February, 1894. Rockwell enjoyed drawing and decided he wanted to be an artist at an early age. He studied at Chase Art School, the National Academy of Design and the Arts Students League. While a student he began having his drawings published in Boys Life magazine. Rockwell's editor was so impressed by his work and made him art director of the magazine.

Rockwell's ambition was to produce a painting used on the front-cover of the Saturday Evening Post. In March 1916 he travelled to Philadelphia to see George Horace Lorimer, the editor of the magazine. When Lorimer saw his work he immediately accepted two covers and commissioned three more. This was the start of his long-term relationship with the magazine that was to last over 45 years.

The picture on front and back is in very good condition but there is a dark manufacturers paint flaw in the upper white part of the bell, which I have shown in my pictures and it measures 9 inches tall and 4 inches across the base.

A multi collectible and an addition to any Norman Rockwell Collection.
