Stallion Horse Book Ends--Pair of black cast iron horses heads--9 1/2 inches tall x 8 inches wide--Marked: Copyright 1954, VA Metal Crafters The Stallion

 Nascho Products Green and Gold Toleware Bowl decorated with hand painted fruit design. Has the original label Nashco Products, New York, Hand painted, Chip and Alcohol Resistant on the bottom. No dents or dings, just a couple of paint rubs on the gold. Measures 7 1/4'' in diameter and 3 5/8'' tall.  Horse Shoe Book Ends and / or Candle Holders—Pair of black iron horse shoes with post on the back that is open to hold candles—Measures 6 ¼ inches tall x 6 inch diameter foot—Has the artists brand mark on the bottom foot but I do not know who it represents—The pair is $79  Pair of iron bookends, crudely made, marked on back: Pat.  They have mold roughness on top, where they were pulled from the mold and not dressed or finished well, stand 4-½ inches height, and are 6 ¼ inches in length. Center sail has an arrowhead shaped emblem, as decoration, and they probably date to 1920’s. Very neat and unique in their crudeness.

Clipper Ships – Iron Bookends $22.00

This pair of iron bookends are made by Connecticut Foundry in 1929. They stand 5-½  inches in  height, 5 inches and are signed on backside: "c" in a triangle, within a circle, then Corp-1929, and below that "Scottish Terrier". Have a few drips of paint on them, which could be removed  if desired.

Offering this unusual antique cast iron bookends measuring 4 1/4 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall.  Ornate raised detailed Egyptian Sphinx surrounded by tall columns and floral stems.  Above on the pontil area of this frame is the winged sun symbol.  Excellent details, wonderful patina.  Fine condition, no cracks or chips; bottom felt had deteriorated beyond repair so it has been replaced with new black velvet.  No markings as to maker; possibly Bradley & Hubbard.  Perfect for your victorian decor as the art deco Egyptian revival style decorations were very popular in the to early 1900's due to the discovery of Tutenkahmen's tomb.  Great conversation pieces for your library or office! Shipping/insurance to continental US address will be $9.00  This is an unusual vintage book rack with a Coat of Arms motif. Each cast iron end measures 6.25" x 4.5" and is plated in a handsome dark pewter gray. The number 9974 is embossed on the inside. The motif is armorial, with a helmet and three shields. The rack measures 12.25"(inner measurement) when closed, and 22" when fully open. Attributed to the Judd Mfg. Co., the piece is in very good condition, with minor wear to the finish consistent with age.  This is a handsome set of brass plated cast iron desk accessories in the owl on pine bough motif. The set consists of a book rack and a letter holder. Each end of the book rack measures 4.5" x 6.5", and the number 9776 is embossed on the inside. The rack measures 8" when closed and 14.5" when fully open. The letter holder measures 6.5" x 4.5" on the front piece and 7.25" x 5" on the back piece. The back piece is done in the pine bough motif, which matches another listed book rack. The number 6640 is embossed on the back of the letter holder, and there is an owl motif on the inside bottom surface. Aside from a spot of oxidation on the bottom of the letter holder(see photo), the set is in wonderful condition.  This is a classic cast iron and brass book rack with a pine bough motif. Each brass plated end measures 7" x 4.5" and is engraved with the number 576. The rack measures 12.5" when closed and 22" when fully open, which will accommodate a nice number of books. The condition is beautiful. This pattern coordinates nicely with the owl and pine bough motif found in book racks and letter holders.

Pine Bough Book Rack

This is a handsome set of vintage bookends depicting the Lincoln Memorial. These heavy cast iron bookends have a rich brown paint, and are marked on the reverse with the shopmark of the Judd Manufacturing Company and the number 9676. Each bookend measures 3.5" high x 6.5" wide x 1.5" deep, and retains the original felt. The condition is very good, with wear to the finish consistent with age.  This is a handsome set of vintage bookends featuring Abraham Lincoln seated and reading a book. This set is an excellent quality gray metal casting with a coppery brown finish. They have substantial weight, and were made by Armor Bronze, with an original sticker on one bookend. They each measure 8.5" high x 5" deep x 3.5" wide, and still have the original felt. The condition is excellent, with minor surface wear.  This is a terrific pair of gray metal bookends by Jennings Brothers known as "Lady of the Theater". The classical lady is standing behind a shield, and is holding a comedy mask in one hand and a tragedy mask in the other. The finish is dark gold and shows wear consistent with age. They measure 6.25" high x 4.5" wide x 3" deep, and are embossed with JB1529 on the reverse. There is no damage to the metal. circa 1924  This is a wonderful pair of heavy, copper plated cast iron bookends, depicting a cabin nestled under a pair of pine trees. They measure 5.5" high and wide, and 2.5" deep, and are embossed with the number 713 on the reverse. They are in wonderful condition!

This is a handsome pair of German Shepherd bookends embossed on the bottom front "CHIEF OF POLICE". They are fairly heavy, made of copper plated cast iron. The bookends each measure 6.5" high x 4" wide x 2" deep, and still have the original felt. The condition is excellent!  For the train collector, this is a super pair of vintage gray metal steam engine bookends. The bookends are well detailed, and have a brass colored finish showing wear consistent with age. They each measure 7" wide x 3.25" deep x 5.5" high. They are in very good condition, with no evident damage to the metal.  This is a cute pair of bookends entitled SPRINGTIME, featuring little girls holding baskets of flowers. They are marked WB and COPYRIGHT USA. The bookends measure 5" high, 2.5" deep, and 3.25" wide. The gray metal has a rich brown finish, and both metal bottom plates are present. The condition is lovely! circa 1925  This is a pair of heavy cast iron bookends featuring a bust of Abraham Lincoln. They measure 5 3/4" high, 4 1/2" wide, and 2 5/8" deep. The rich brown paint shows some wear, and the remnants of the original felt are present. The bookends are embossed on the reverse with the numbers 2311. The condition is very good.

This is a super pair of vintage cast iron bookends featuring the Statue of Liberty and the phrase "I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN". The Statue is shown in the harbor with the New York skyline in the background.  The bookends have a silver background with gold and blue accents. They measure 6" high, 4 7/8" wide, and 1 3/4" deep. There is a little wear to the finish, and a tiny molding flaw on the back edge of one bookend. A great addition to your collection of cast iron or bookends!  This is a handsome pair of Frankart spaniel bookends. The gray metal bookends have a brass plated finish, which shows typical wear. They are a nice size, measuring 5 3/4" high, 3 3/8" wide, and 7 1/4" long. They are marked on the base: FRANKART INC PAT APPL, and still have the original felt. The condition is very nice. circa 1934  This is a nice pair of cast iron bookends featuring dogs lying in front of a gate. They are brass plated, and measure 3 1/2" high, 4" wide, and 1 5/8" deep. The bookends are in very good condition, with no damage to the metal.  circa 1925  This is a great pair of deco bookends known as Wisdom Well, which feature kneeling nudes drinking from a bowl. They are cast iron with a copper plated finish which shows typical wear. Each bookend measures 5.5" high, 4.5" wide, and 2.5" deep. They were made circa 1929, and still retain the original felt. There is no damage to note.

This is a cute pair of vintage cast iron scotty bookends. The paint has been chipped and cracked, but is not peeling off. They measure 5" x 5" x 2". They are decorative and would make a cute gift for the scotty owner. circa 1930  This is a pair of vintage cast iron bookends depicting the goddess Minerva with the Lamp of Knowledge. They are plated with copper highlights, and retain the original felt. They measure 4 5/8" high x 3 5/8" wide x 1 7/8" deep. The condition is excellent!  This is an uncommon pair of heavy cast iron bookends by Bradley & Hubbard. Each bookend depicts a different view of an old church, a coach with a pair of horses, and a lady in period dress. The polychrome paint is in beautiful condition, and the colors are vivid. They are marked with the standard shopmark, and retain the original felt. There is a stain around the lower 1/8" of the bottoms, otherwise the condition is lovely. This is the first pair of these I have seen, either in person or in print, in 25 years of selling antiques. They measure 5 5/8" high x 4 3/8" wide x 2 7/8" deep. circa 1925  This is a handsome pair of vintage bronze clad bookends by the Marian Bronze Company. They portray a studious monk, dressed in a rich orange-red robe, reading a book. The condition is very good, with the only damage to note being a spot of red missing on the back of one hood, and a couple of pin dot areas in the back of both. They are marked with the shopmark, and there is no damage to the metal.

This is a handsome pair of heavy cast iron bookends by Bradley and Hubbard, known as Pilgrim Landing. One bookend depicts a ship, and the other shows the landing of the pilgrims. They are 6" high, 4 1/4" wide, and 2 3/8" deep. They have a darkened brass plating which shows typical wear, and they have the standard B&H shopmark on the reverse. Lady Jester Bookends

This is a copper plated iron book rack by the H.L. Judd Company. Each end measures about 5" x 6" and features a bust of Shakespeare mounted on three columns, with foliage filled urns on either side. They are highlighted with green and white accents. The rack expands from 13.25" to 24.25" and the ends fold down. The finish shows typical wear, and the metal is in excellent condition. UPDATE: There is a crack on one of the base bars where the central rung is screwed in on one side. AS IS  This is a plated iron book rack by Judd featuring a pair of dachshunds on each end. The finish seems to be a combination of brass and copper, and the rack measures 4.75" x 4.75" on each end and expands from 8.5" to 14.75". It is embossed with the number 9780 inside the end. The book rack is in excellent condition.  This is a handsome pair of 4.5" Ronson bookends known both as Howdah or India Elephant. The grey metal bookends are signed L.V. Aronson copyright 1923. They have a rich black finish with verdigris accents and ivory painted tusks which have some scratches. The original felt is present, and the bookends are in beautiful condition, with no damage to the metal.  Great Gift! The rack is plated in brass and copper, which shows the motif well. It measures 8.5" closed and 15" when open, and each end is 6" x 4.75". The ends are embossed with the number 9948. This is a wonderful piece of vintage metalware in beautiful condition!  This is a handsome pair of heavy vintage bronze bookends known as Hunter and Huntress. They measure 5 1/2" x 4 1/8" x 2 1/2" deep, and have some wear to the darkened bronze patina. The huntress is standing ready to shoot with a dog by her side, while the hunter is pointing to an arrow in a tree. The backgrounds have beautiful detailing.  This is a super pair of cast iron bookends by The Connecticutt Foundry. They are called Cowboy and Broncho and are marked on the reverse with the name, logo, #923,  and dated 1930. They measure 6 1/8" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/8" deep, and have a nice darkened brass finish. They have no felt, and the condition is excellent.

Cowboy and Broncho Bookends

This is a handsome, heavy pair of cast iron bookends representing a bust of Charles Dickens on a pedestal. They measure 6" x 4" x 2 5/8" deep, and have a black matte finish which shows some scuffing. They are marked on the reverse B.F. & M.F. in a circle, but I cannot identify the mark. The original felt is present.  This is a handsome pair of vintage bronze clad bookends by Marion Bronze. They measure 7" x 5.5" x 2.75" deep and have a rich coppery finish which has some darker spots. The rendition of ships is very realistic with a nice three dimentional quality to the sails. The original paper labels and felt are present, and the condition is beautiful.  This is a heavy pair of bronze clad bookends featuring well detailed horse heads framed in a horseshoe. They measure 6.5" x 7" and still retain their felt. The condition is very good! circa 1920's  This is a pair of 1940's gray metal bookends called Two Kinds of Pups. They still have the original cardboard inserts but are missing the felt. They are 6.5" high and have a brass plated finish which has a blue tinge around the base. There is a line about 1.5" in the back of one which I believe occurred in the casting. They are signed copyright J.L. Drucklieb and 19 and an H C in a circle.

Two Kinds of Pups Bookends $115.00

This is a super pair of Armor Bronze bookends with their original paper labels. They feature a hunting dog at point, and have a two tone finish. The dog has a golden finish and the rock shaped platform is brown. The finish shows typical wear, and the metal is in excellent condition. They measure 7" x 4.5".  This is a great pair of bronze clad bookends by Kathodian Bronze Works. These are called "Gladiator", and feature a nude male pressing against the books. The bookends measure 7" x 6.5" x 4" and have a beautiful chestnut brown finish. I was fortunate to find an ad from this company for these bookends, which dates them at 1910-1915. The ad itself is wonderful! These were called "Book Rocks" and cost $5.00  before 1915! The quality of the sculpture is excellent, and these are signed copyright K.B.W. ARTBRONZ  529?.  This is a beautiful cast iron book rack with a classical shell motif on each end. The brass plated finish shows a fair amount of wear. The metal is in excellent condition. The piece measures 12.5" long when closed, and 21" when open. Both ends telescope outward, which is uncommon. Each end measures 6.75" x 4.75".  This is a pair of vintage cast iron bookends depicting a stagecoach drawn by a pair of horses. The shiny copper plated finish shows typical wear, and each bookend measures 7" long x 4" high x 1.25" deep. They are embossed on the reverse: COPY'T. W.H. HOWELL CO.. The original felt is present, and the condition is very nice.

Cast Iron Stagecoach Bookends

This is a pair of very heavy cast iron bookends featuring pirates sitting on their treasure chests. Very little remains of the original brass colored plating- there is more left on one than the other. The pirates measure 6" high, and the metal is in excellent condition. These are heavy enough to use as bookends!  This is a handsome set of solid bronze bookends featuring a Greek or Roman forum scene. They measure 5.25" x 4.25", and have very fine detailing. No felt is present. circa 1925.  This is a newer pair of gray metal bookends of squirrels snacking on nuts. They have a laquered brass finish and are quite large, measuring 7.75" x 5". They are marked 1975 S.C.C.*. The original felt is present. Excellent condition!  This is a terrific set of Hubley cast iron bookends featuring Don Quixote. He is mounted on his steed and is carrying a lance. In the background is a windmill and some trees. They measure 6" x 5", and the brown-gold painted finish shows very little wear. The backs are dimpled and stamped 243. There are no felts. A wonderful set!
