Metalware: Copper

What's New in the Collector's Showcase of Metalware: Copper?
The Most Recent Additions to This Category are First!
Manufactured by Lombard, England during the 1930-1940 era, this copper pitcher is decorated all the way around with Cerub Angels holding hands. Great character to the piece. Impressed stamp on bottom.  This 1970s brass and copper tea kettle has blue and white porcelain Delfts style handle and lid finial with an attractive squat shape. It's a smaller size, about 1 quart. There are no markings indicating the maker or country of origin but the teapot is very typical of the late Mid Century era.

The kettle displays wonderfully but you'd want to clean it up if you intend to use it. There is a film of light rust inside and there may be some wear to the tin lining. The exterior has water spotting, easily removed with copper polish. The porcelain pieces are not particularly well made, having glazed-over small flaws from manufacture. There are a couple of super shallow, tiny pindot dings near the upper shoulder. The pot does not leak.

Very heavy duty solid antique copper foot warmer with brass screw top. Incised number on bottom: #30. No maker's marks. It is 12 long x 8 wide. Has some scratches; green patination spots; and a few dents, see pics. However, overall, it displays fine as a unique accessory piece and you could also use it too! 1/12egau#  Nice old smaller size solid copper tea kettle from Finland It has a 1 liter (just over a quart) capacity with short gooseneck spout and swing handle. The teakettle was designed for use in old coal or wood stove burners as evidenced by the extended rim guard above the base - it's likely pre-1940s. It measures 7-1/4 inches high to the top of the handle, 4-1/2" diameter, 7 inches wide to spout tip. The patina is uneven and there is oxidation and some sediment stains inside. There are some tiny pinpoint dimples around the upper shoulder. No leaks, handle is securely attached, lid fits tightly. Handle is marked Made In Finland, EXO Epila Tampere, 1L.

Old Copper Pitcher England $19.99

Copper Tea Kettle With Porcelain Delft S $32.00

Antique Copper Footwarmer $120.00

Finnish Copper 1 Liter Tea Kettle $44.00

This Eames era hand wrought copper bowl has a curved biomorphic trefoil design on three curved brass legs. About 10 inches diameter by 4 inches high at the top, it's perfect for displaying fruit, flowers, or even holiday ornaments. The softness of the solid copper has caused bumps in the bottom where the legs attach, and someone did a poor job of polishing in the past that left finger marks and spottiness inside, but the bowl does look beautifully Mid Century Modern when filled with almost anything.

This 8-3/4" diameter low bowl in hammered copper is exactly like those made by Craftsman Studios of Laguna Beach. This one however has a paper label taped to the bottom reading "Made In Laguna Beach California by Laguna Craftsmen, PO Box 10". Laguna Beach has had a reknown artist's colony since the early 1900s, and in fact Craftsman Studios moved there to be part of it. I'm not sure if this bowl is s Craftsman piece or not however.

The bowl appears to have been cleaned or polished in the not-too-distant past though it is recovering a patina. It appear that the lacquered finish was removed which should help it repatinate faster. It's 2 inches deep and in good condition, marked below the label with the stock number 115.

I think this antique copper and brass implement is some type of fogger or sprayer - perhaps to dispense smoke or insecticide to keep bees and bugs away. It's 4" high to the cap, with the nozzle tilted up the total height is 6 inches ( the nozzle can be rotated up or down). The exterior wall is reticulated pierced copper or bronze surrounding a solid brass canister. There's a pierced screen at the bottom with room below to hold some type of pellet or tablet - it's inserted through a sliding panel on the underside. The curved pipe tip is threaded at the end, perhaps to hold an atomizer bulb of some sort.

There are no maker's marks but the fogger is obviously fairly old - presumably early 20th Century. I'm afraid I don't know much about it other than it was found in a shed at a Utah residence.

Circa 1910 solid copper burner pan for heating a chafing dish, samovar, or spirit kettle - used with Sterno, alcohol, or kerosene. The handle slides to adjust the pierced vents around the top. The interior has clean cotton padding underneath a heavy "chicken wire" type screen. Unmarked, very good condition, heavy. Will fit a stand opening 3-1/2 to 3-3/4" diameter.

A very nice solid copper kitchen food mold from Sweden with an embossed Dala horse and stylized flowers. The mold is small, 4 inches diameter by just over an inch deep and lined in food-safe zinc or nickel. It has a brass hanging ring at the top and is marked Nils Johan, Akta Koppar Sweden inside a cartouche with knight's head and the alchemical symbol for copper (circle over +). Great warm reddish-brown patina, excellent condition.

This copper plated metal mug tree will display your coffee cups or copper mugs in style on your kitchen countertop. It's from the late 1980s to early 1990s. There are four adjustable curled scroll ball-tip hooks, each a different height and facing in a different direction. About 15-1/2" inches tall and in very good vintage condition.

Antique copper pan with hand wrought iron handle. The handle has a rust tinge. This pan/bowl is 5 tall x 10.5 wide. It has a seam going down on one side and circling the bottom area. Just a neat primitive item. I like to put pine cones in these at x-mas time. 12/11brcs  A solid copper spittoon or cuspidor. Marked Gregorian, Solid Copper, Made in USA. Stands 7 in. tall and is 8 in. diameter at the top. &.5 in. diameter base. No damage. Like new condition. Would make a great vase and copper always adds a warm touch to your decor.

Copper Coffee Mug Tree Stand $20.00

Antique Copper Pan $89.00

This is a coppertone metal bell shaped as a cow bell. Stands 4 in. tall and the base is 3 in. x 4 in. approximately. The top has a wide handle to hold a leather strap to hang around an animals neck. Just a bit shorter than the normal cow bells I have seen.  Not sure if this tray is coppertone or all copper. Embossed design. Measures 12.25 in. diameter. Normal wear.  This vintage 9-3/4 inch diameter copper wall charger plate depicts an Egyptian sphinx with the Great Pyramids in the background. The etched copper design is enhanced with a burnished deep bronze enamel finish to the background and selected details of the sphinx. The back is marked only with what appears to be the original owner's social security number, there are no other markings. A wire hanger is soldered to the back. The plate has a couple of minor dimples which are noticeable on the back but not at all at the front due to the composition of the design.

This dramatic vintage Egyptian themed copper wall charger is copper with inlaid bronze and silver. It's quite heavy, nearly 16 inches diameter with a scene of a sphinx and the Great Pyramids in the center, surrounded by a wide border of Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols outlined in silver. The plate is in very good condition but it's a vintage item and shows a little age - minor tarnish specks to the copper areas and tiny bumps or dimples to the outer rim, none of which affect the displayability of the charger. A wire hanger is soldered to the back for hanging. There are no maker's marks or signatures.

Coppertone Metal Bell. Cow Bell? $24.95

Copper Tray, Embossed design $22.00

Copper Egyptian Spinx and Pyramids Wall $36.00

Large Mixed Metals Inlaid Egyptian Sphin $85.00

This neat old copper wall thermometer was a souvenir of Yellowstone Park. It's copper plated metal, 4-3/4 inches high by 4 inches wide with an embossed scene of three bears (one in a tree) and the Old Faithful geyser erupting. Yellowstone National Park is printed wood carving style on two logs at the bottom of the scene below the words Old Faithful. A hanging hole is at the top of the scene, the back is marked Made In Japan. The glass thermometer is mounted at the left side of the scene. The thermometer works accurately and the copper plaque is in good condition.

These hammered Arts and Crafts style copper double candle holders were made by Craftsman Studios of Laguna Beach, California. Each has three taper-size candle cups mounted at the top and sides of a curled copper circle, which is mounted on a crimped oval lotus leaf style base. Each candelabrum is 6-1/2 inches high by 8-3/4 inches wide.

At first glance the candlesticks appear to be identical but they are somewhat of a marriage. I don't know if the original owner purchased them separately or together, but they have different Craftsman marks and were not made at the same time. One has a slightly shorter base with irregular hammering marks. It is marked Craftsman Co. The other has striated hammering lines on the base and is marked Craftsmen Inc. Both have the stock number 713 stamped on the bottom. Craftsman Studios underwent changes of ownership and several variations of their hallmarks over the years and it's not unusual to find identical pieces with completely different marks. I believe the Craftsmen Inc. mark was the last one used before the company went out of business in the 1950s. Both candle holders are in excellent vintage condition with original patina. Price is for the pair but if you prefer to purchase only one, please inquire.

Beautiful set of 4 copper coasters from Canada. Coasters are 3" in diameter and has the Dogwood flower and Britich Columbia on the inside. Has "Fantasy Copper, Made in Canada" on the bottom of each coaster. All 4 are in excellent condition.  This copper butter warmer was made in Taiwan in the 1980s. It comes complete with a copper and brass candle warming stand and candle cup (takes a votive size or tea light candle). The pot is 3-1/2 inches diameter by 2-1/4" high and has a fitted lid, pour spout, and black plastic handle. The pot is heavier and sturdier than the stand. The brass warmer top piece is thin and has a few slight bumps or bends to the rim, otherwise the set is in very good, clean condition.

This Can-O-Mat manual copper finish can opener is one of a series of popular O-Mat appliances and kitchen gadgets produced by the Rival Company from the 1930s to the 1960s. The company came out with a line of deluxe copper items in the late 1940s which were priced higher than the chrome and enamel finish models.

The can opener is is 7-1/2 inches long and mounts on the wall or cabinet. It comes with the original copper finish wall bracket but needs the bolt insert and one of the three mounting screws (two are present), easily found at any hardware or home improvement store. The copper finish is in good condition with only slight wear around the front edge and below the crank where there is a spot of oxidation or tarnish. The black paint at the back of the opener and at the wall mount fitting has some wear.

Very large middle eastern copper storage bowl in very good condition and would make a nice planter.Approx 30" in Dia & 15" high and can be seen in our Snohomish gallery.  PAX is an International Program of Academic Exchange. It is 12.25 long x 4.5 tall x 4.75 deep. 5/11brcs  Have never seen this tray before, but seemed like it was a great idea. The label states "Scientifially Balanced Serving Tray". This is a scarce piece of early 1930s copper cookware by Revere - the official name was "Chic Whistling Egg Cooker", complete with yellow hard plastic chick whistler on top. I only have the upper pot, originally there was a second pan for the chick boiler to fit over.

The boiler pan has a center pillar with water line markings for soft, medium, and hard cooked eggs. You fill the pan with water and heat (ideally over the lower pot). When the eggs are cooked to the desired hardness or softness according to the water level, the chick whistles.

The cooker is about 5" high to the chick finial with a 6 inch long brass handle. There's some wear to the tin lining in the bottom of the pot, and it could probably use a cleaning - I didn't want to harm the nice patina. There's one ding on the underside, not visible unless you turn the pan over. The hard phenolic plastic chic is in good condition with no damage. Makes a great kitchen display piece.

Vintage hammered copper pitcher. Incised mark: 'R', 1 8 on bottom. It stands 11.75 tall. Some green patination here & there, and some tiny dents, but a great display piece. Age est: 1920's.
