Newsweek Magazine After Two Years (Pearl Harbour) December 6, 1943 Complete no missing pages.

This collectible tin which holds 2 decks of Coca-Cola Nostalgia Playing Cards was distributed in the USA by The United States Playing Card Company under the authority of the Coca Cola Company, owner of the trademark Coca Cola in 1993.

The product that has given the world its best-known taste was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1886. Dr. John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced the syrup for Coca-Cola, and carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs' Pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced excellent and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink. Carbonated water was teamed with the new syrup to produce a drink that was at once Delicious and Refreshing, a theme that continues to echo today wherever Coca-Cola is enjoyed.

Thinking that the two Cs would look well in advertising, Dr. Pemberton's partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, suggested the name and penned the now famous trademark Coca-Cola in his unique script. The first newspaper ad for Coca-Cola soon appeared in The Atlanta Journal, inviting thirsty citizens to try the new and popular soda fountain drink.

Dr. Pemberton never realized the potential of the beverage he created. He gradually sold portions of his business to various partners and, just prior to his death in 1888, sold his remaining interest in Coca-Cola to Asa G. Candler. An Atlantan with great business acumen, Mr. Candler proceeded to buy additional rights and acquire complete control. With Asa Candler, now at the helm, the Coca Cola Company increased syrup sales by over 4000% between 1890 and 1900.

The United States Playing Card Company, started in 1867, produces and distributes many brands of playing cards, including Bicycle, Bee, Hoyle, Kem, and others, plus novelty and custom cards, and other playing card accessories such as poker chips. The company was once based in Cincinnati, Ohio, but is now headquartered in Erlanger, Kentucky. It has been a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation since 2004.

In it's original packaging, which has red pen writing on the cardboard and fading, the tin inside is also faded in spots from getting wet which I have shown in my pictures. The red and white tin has two different pictures of Santa enjoying his Coca-Cola which match the decks of cards inside. One deck of cards is still sealed while the other was opened but still has the end flap enclosed and they measure 3 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches.

An addition to any Coca Cola Advertising Playing Card Collection.

SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions please contact me and thank you for looking.
