What's New in the Collector's Showcase of Paper and Ephemera: Maps?
The Most Recent Additions to This Category are First!
Original 1900 antique maps (antique map), two-sided (different maps on each side of the page), from 'Peerless Atlas of the World', Farm & Fireside Library, No. 181, March 1900, published by The Crowell & Kirkpatrick Co., Springfield, Ohio. Size about 14 x 22 in. (a double page spread with tri-fold lines). Overall condition for age very good, but pages very brittle. The Ohio & Illinois maps have most corners missing at an angle (one is much larger than the other 2, these don't extend into the map itself, but the large one comes close), tears along tri-folds that extend into maps and one similar page edge tear plus other page edge roughness (we think most of this would not be seen matted & framed). Listed here are two maps. One is the map with the United States (as it existed in 1900) on one side, with a combined map on the other of Massachusetts, Connecticut & Rhode Island (MA, CT, RI). The other map has Ohio on one side and Illinois on the other. Another 7 maps are listed in a group separately. As an example, we've shown the Minnesota map from the same book. How times have changed! On the other side is a listing per state of cities with the corresponding four digit number. Also information on postal regulations, restrictions, and other interesting reading. Measures 33 1/2 x 26 inches. Good+ condition, no tears or holes. There are two small brown spots - one on Illinois and one of Idaho. This is a 1971 Tourguide map of Idaho and Montana. It was distributed by Gulf gas stations. The edges are a little dirty but the map is in great shape.  This is a 1974 Idaho Montana map. Offering this map of British America (now Canada), dated 1899, by J. Martin Miller, Chicago Illinois. Measures 16 1/4" tall x 22 1/4" wide, good condition, no stains, one tiny 1/2" tear on bottom margin edge, has been mended on backside with archival tape, would not be noticeable when framed, since this is a large map there is a center fold line but is all one piece, not two. This map shows what is now Quebec as lower part as Quebec and upper part as Ungava; Manitoba & Ontario today as a small Manitoba, Ontario and Keewatin; Alberta, Saskatchewan today as Alberta, Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, and Athabasca.
