Aleksei Maksimovich Peshkov (In Russian Алексей Максимович Пешков) (1868–1936), better known as Maxim Gorky (Максим Горький), was a Soviet/Russian author, a founder of the socialist realism literary method and a political activist. From 1906 to 1913 and from 1921 to 1929 he lived abroad, mostly in Capri, Italy; after his return to the Soviet Union he accepted the cultural policies of the time, although he was not permitted to leave the country.  Vintage hand tinted photo print of a little girl with curly blonde hair and blue dress. This is on a thin cardstock paper backing. Not the usual thick cardboard. I will be happy to combine shipping and handling for multiple item orders.

The inscription at the front side reads: Hundreds of Japanese dragging a massive II-in, siege gun six miles to its emplacement – Port Arthur. 1905 by Underwood & Underwood." Wax stain at back otherwise fine condition.  Two young men remembered in Death. Brothers? Maybe! Long gone, but memorialized in this Post Moretem photograph.
