Shipping Charge: $5.00 Excellent, early 1/6 plate daguerreotype shows a pretty but expressionless young woman, probably in her early twenties - her face still has a somewhat childish look to it. She's dressed in nice simple clothes and her hands are clasped in front of her. She's leaning on a table that's covered with a beautiful patterned fabric that looks like silk - the fabric really shows off the excellent tobal range and contrast. Spots on scans are mainly dust particles with the exception of a small one at the edge of the mat at the bottom - it's cleaner and nicer than the scans indicate. Original seals intact - I'm sure it would clean up nicely. It's an excellent image with great tonal range, contrast and clarity. Leather case is split; interior velvet shows minor wear. Guaranteed old and original. This sweet little girl in period dress shows plenty of personality. From the papers that were with the picture I can say her name was Emma. I'm betting the photographer was delighted with her and her ability to pose for him as she did. ADD $5.00 SHIPPING TO ANYWHERE IN THE USA. I discount shipping on multiple purchases.  Dead man tells no tales, a nice mid Victorian cased Daguerreotype of a man. Eternal rest in peace 19th century photography. Ex Richard Green antique post mortem collection.  Daguerreotype dag plus a later CDV Miss Jane Smith Worcester Massachusetts. Pre Civil War medical anomaly photography set. Sixth Plate Daguerreotype, circa 1855. Miss Jane Smith is a proud and attractive young Lady who looks directly at the Camera, even though she has only one eye! Half case with unusual musical instrument, a lyre atop books with floral motif. The hand colored Dag shows nice skin tones and a delicate pink blush to her cheeks and lips and gold has been added to the two rings on her right hand! In addition to this RARE Daguerreotype is a later period C.D.V. or carte de visite of Miss Smith. On the reverse side of the photo is written her name above the Photographers back stamp, S. B. Winchester of Worcester Mass. When you consider the extreme reserve exhibited by most women from the Victorian era these two photographs are all the more amazing! You will notice that Miss Smith is wearing eye glasses in both images, something many present day individuals remove before having their photo taken! She has chosen NOT to hide her affliction by having the photographer take her image in profile! She has also chosen NOT to hide her affliction behind Dark Glasses! And lastly, she has chosen NOT to have a Glass Eye!! No, she is a PROUD, HONEST and BEAUTIFUL Woman, an admirable combination!! Usually I take great pride in writing my own copy descriptions, but these words were from the original seller and frankly I could not have said them better (ed.
