Pfaltzgraff made this sturdy pottery creamer in the Folk Art pattern. 4.5"x5". In excellent condition. Folk Art was one of Pfaltzgraff's most popular patterns.  Old German Porcelain 11 Piece Canister Set decorated with Purple Violets Gold Trim and raised beading. The set includes a wall mount salt box, two bottles, 4 large canisters, two spice jars and a salt pepper shaker set. The larger containers measures 8.75" tall x 5.5" wide x 2.75" deep. The spice jars are 4" x 2" x 2.75" These measurement include the lids. The salt box is 10.5" x .5.5" x 4.25". It has a hinged wooded lid. The salt & pepper shakers are 2.75" wide x 2"tall and are missing the stoppers. The shakers are not original to this set but are well matched so I am including them in this lot. The shakers have crazing. The rest of them are embossed with "Grell" on the bottom. The condition is nearly excellent. There are a few very minor flaws here and there. Some of the color has faded on a few pieces. The inside rim on one canister is a shallow crack that does not go through to the outside. The salt box lid has a crack in the wood and there is a crazing on the bottom. There maybe a rough edge on a few but overall the condition is remarkable for age.

Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. With pottery production migrating to Asia in the latter part of the twentieth century, Santa Barbara Ceramic Design (SBCD) was something of an anomaly-a homegrown studio producing unique decorative and functional ceramic art. This is the story of SBCD and how a studio pottery defined by one person producing hand thrown, hand decorated pottery evolved into a full-blown production pottery with distinct colorways, shapes, and designs. Complete with copious primary sources and company ephemera, this profile captures the voices of the creative forces behind SBCD, its company culture, and works that in many ways invoke the Arts and Crafts movement and earlier American potteries like Weller and Roseville. Featuring chapters on studio marks, an introduction by owner and founder Ray Markow; and a year-by-year review from 1973 to 1987, this is the definitive volume on SBCD for the ceramics collector, dealer, student, artist, and historian. 400 color images

The furnaces of Caltagirone (Sicily) and Deruta (Tuscany) have produced pots that are worth their weight in gold today. These and their resplendent lusterware cousins of Manises and Valencia (Spain) are in demand on the collectorsÂ’ market. This book features hundreds of photos of authentic Maiolica from the high period and catalogs reproductions from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, giving readers “the whole picture.†Since the nineteenth century, Maiolica has been faked with a passion and naïve collectors are easily beguiled. This valuable resource describes the history of the production and use of Maiolica as well as the history of collecting Maiolica. Also included are a price guide and resources for collectors and dealers. 227 color photos  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Poole Pottery is recognized as one of the most distinctive and most collected potteries of the twentieth century. Founded by Jesse Carter in 1873, by the 1880s the factory was well known for its tiling products, mosaic flooring and advertising panels. After the turn of the century the company flourished in the hands of the founder's sons, developing the hand-decorated style that would be their signature for many years to come. In 1921, Charles Carter, the respected designer Harold Stabler, and the husband and wife John and Truda Adams established a subsidiary that would establish Poole as one of the centres of ceramic arts. The firm began to draw inspiration from many historical styles and cultures including Egyptian, Grecian and the Middle East all combined with the revival of the Delftware technique of freehand painting on a white tin glazed ground. Throughout the 1920s and '30s Poole became synonymous with elegant and expertly executed wares produced in a daring and highly decorative style of modernism. The firm grew rapidly and employed a number of key artists and decorators who in turn brought their own ideas to the table. Post-war production was mostly based on pre-war designs, but in 1958 the company developed a whole new range of 'studio ware'. The Studio was seen as a design hot bed, with nothing off limits and no treatments or techniques out of bounds. The pieces from this period were expensive to produce, but the level of production and quality of design put Poole firmly at the front of the British craft pottery movement. This range became the basis for the more commercial Delphis range, which found immediate success and helped the company maintain its market position. The end of the twentieth century was a more difficult time for Poole, but it remains one of the great names of British ceramics and the decorative arts. In this highly illustrated introduction Poole devotee and expert Will Farmer tells the story of this remarkable and popular firm.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. 'Jasper' refers to the highly distinctive blue-and-white wares that have been produced by the Wedgwood company for more than two centuries. It was arguably Josiah Wedgwood's most important contribution to ceramic art and was a direct result of several thousand experiments over many years. It has been by far the most widely collected of all Wedgwood products, and this book will explore the history and stories behind this unique ware.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. It took George Perrott and his wife more than 7 years to complete this book. It is compiled in date order and consists of marks from the factories of Europe, U.S.A., Japan and China. It covers approximately 10,000 marks and references. It commences with the Ming Dynasty of 1368 and takes the reader through the 15th century `Maiolica' period of the Italian Renaissance, the German and French `Faience' of the 16th century, the early 17th century Dutch `Delft' wares and continues on to the great factories of Europe including Meissen, Sevres, and the English factories of Wedgwood, Minton, Spode, Doulton, etc. The major part of the book concentrates on older marks but a significant effort has been made to include marks from factories and potters that are currently in business and still producing their wares today. More than 500 Companies throughout Europe, U.S.A. and the Far East contributed to this project. Collectors Clubs and Museums were also a great source of information. This publication is in fact one of the most original marks books to come onto the market in recent times. It must be the first of its kind that catalogues the marks, factories and potters in date order giving the added perception of their time in history. If you are a collector of porcelain and pottery or you deal in it as a profession this book is a must for your bookshelf.

Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. The authors have made every effort to provide readers with an authoritative guide that contains ready access to components of collecting that are most desirable to collectors. Whether the individuals are neophytes or sophisticates in their knowledge of Goebel products specifically, or fine ceramics in general, this book will serve as the invaluable tool that the collecting world has sought for many years. The basic philosophy attendant to this effort is that of providing the collector with benefits of the knowledge the authors have attained over many years of researching and collecting fine ceramic products and of establishing base product values in a manner such that the collector can find information that is readily accessible and factual. Utilizing this book provides an insight that is rare in that the reader is looking through the eyes of two experts who have valued these articles based on the premise that each item is desired as a part of the authors' collections. The price ranges quoted are compatible with what they would consider paying for each individual item, provided that it is in a mint or satisfactory condition. The values' shown are intended as a reference only. The values are subjective and can vary greatly depending on the circumstances of purchase.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Table of Contents: - We have included the 2003 Price Guide supplement with this book as well. This ultimate collectors' book contains more than 1,300 photographs (800 color photographs!). The 240 page hardbound volume also features comprehensive information on production dates & methods, glazes, designers, and even tips on care. More than just a collector's guide, this beautifully designed volume rivals any of the finest coffee table books available.  Porcelain Dancing Colonial Couple Music Box. It is larger then most I have seen measuring 6.25" tall and 6" wide. It is quite old but in pretty good condition. It plays a waltz but I cannot recall the name of the tune. The couple spins around on the base. There is very fine details on the couple. The lady has applied porcelain lace that is broken off in some places but it really isn't too noticeable. As far as the rest of the condition is concerned: It tends to lean. I am not sure if that in intentional or not. The musical function works well but seem just a bit on the slow side. Under the felt lined bottom it is the music mechanism with is mark Japan. The porcelain piece is unmarked.   This wonderful unique Redware & Electric Blue pottery juicer/reamer is a very generous size, measuring 7 3/4 inches across the top to the tip of the lip/pouring spout, and 8 inches across the opposite side. It is 2 1/4 inches deep and the raised area where the fruit is placed for juicing is approximately 3 inches in diameter.

This is a handmade piece, with the artist's name inscribed into the unglazed bottom. The letters we are able to read are Underson. There is a letter, or group of letters preceding this, which could possibly be an F, G, H, or maybe CL; it's hard to tell and our searches for a match of the artist's name and signature did not yield any results.

Irregardless, this is a very nice piece of pottery with expert craftsmanship. You often see pans, bowls, and pitchers constructed of redware, but very rarely, a juicer.

Piece is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or flakes. There is some crazing present on the exterior side walls of this piece, but this is not apparent at all, and can only be seen at close range with direct lighting.
