Large continental charger in underglaze blue depicting a boar with dogs and a rider in the background. Signed and dated 1887.

diameter 20 inches  Featured for your enjoyment is an antique wash basin and slop jar. This set is marked in a

banner Imperial. Now I am not certain if that is the pattern name or the makers name. At

any rate it is a nice set. This would go great in a bathroom used for flowers. The slop jar

has one handle repaired in 3 spots. Not noticeable due to the embossing on the handles. It

is also missing the lid. The basin has some rubbing on the inner rim. Both pieces show

crazing. They have an embossed pattern with a floral transfer. Gold highlights decorate

the embossing. Scalloped rim on the slop jar. Mail color is a deep teal. Slop jar stands 12"

tall by 13" wide. It has a little rocking when stood. Must have warped a bit during firing.

Wash basin is 4 3/4’ tall by 16" across. Shows wear to the gold on the rim. This is a

heavy set so please be advised shipping will be a bit on the higher side.

Featured is a lovely piece of California pottery. This Weil Ware vase is done in a pastel

blue outside and white inside. There is a blue glaze drip inside the vase, slip of the

glazer’s hand! It has all over crazing and one tiny flea bite of a glaze rub on the rim.

Stands 6 1/2" tall by 7" wide.

Featured for your enjoyment is a stunning pitcher, jug, from Spain. This has a very art deco

pattern. Very much like some of the English makers of that time. Starting at the top: The rim is

done in brown and until about 1/5th of the way down it is slightly raised from the rest of the

pitcher. Right below that brown line is where it stops. The curved lines are all over with the

circular flowers scattered about. The handle is then in yellow. Now there are several nicks on the handle sides. Very shallow and not very noticeable. The spout also has a glaze rub. 2 tiny nicks

on the rim also. All these mentioned are very small and mostly felt. It stands 7" tall by 6 1/2"

from spout to handle.

Size: 7 ¼ inches in height and 7 inches in length, and about 3 inches width. No maker marks, possibly by Cambridge, appears to be quite old.

This very scarce 1930s 3-section juvenile feeding plate can be seen on page 82 of the original edition of Stern's Guide to Disney Collectibles. It's just under 8" diameter and has decaled illustrations of two of the original Disney cartoon Three Little Pigs plus the Big Bad Wolf in each of the plate sections. Each design is signed with the likeness of Walt Disney's signature.

The plate was made by Salem China Company under their Patriot China mark. The back is marked S.C. Co. Patriot China, Made in America, Mfgd. by permission Walt Disney Enterprises. The heavy plate has no chips, flakes, or hairlines but it does have stained crazing and there is quite a bit of wear and fading to the largest decal, the fiddling pig at the lower center. The wolf and other pig decals have much less wear. The black spot on the back to the right of the mark appears to be an impressed number 8 with an overabundance of ink.

This cute 1940s clown shaped child's feeding dish was made for Hankscraft by Red Wing Pottery. The clown's head is actually a stopper, so you can fill the dish with hot water to keep baby's food warm. The underside is marked Hankscraft U.S.A. with the curved underline that was exclusive to Redwing-made Hankscraft items (other pottery companies made items for them too, though the others usually aren't marked at all).

The cork lining on the stopper is worn but not completely gone. Otherwise the dish is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or damage. Please see the matching cup I have listed.

These bookends are very nice examples of the work done by San Jose Potteries in San Antonio, Texas. The scene depicted on each book end is a cock fight. Shown in the scene are three men wearing colorful clothing and donning sombreros. They are watching two cocks fighting. There is a large cactus in the right background and another palm type plant on the left side. This is done in wonderful vibrant glaze colors - 8 glaze colors! Each measures approximately 7" high by 5 3/4" wide, by 2 3/4" in depth.

Dating to circa 1930-1940. Both bookends are in excellent condition - no cracks, chips or repairs. A fabulous example to go nicely with a tile or pottery collection! (#T-1864)

See images. This elegant covered jar bears the two concentric circles typical of the Kangxi period, but probably dates from about 1850. The pattern is Prunus Blossom with a deep cobalt to lighter blues on a white background. The piece is a darker blue than appears in most of the images due to camera flash. There are also some white "patches" that might be noticed in the images that are only light reflections. The jar itself has a few pinhole pops from manufacture and the lid has been very beautifully repaired after a clean break. (see inside image. The outside (blue) cannot easily be seen. It will display beautifully. This wonderful piece was located recently in an early Connecticut estate.

A matched place setting of children’s dishes; a plate, cup and saucer, with two children on the plate and the cup. These pieces are unmarked, but most likely are German. The plate measures 6 ½ inches across, and has a boy and girl standing by water with a sailboat (made from wooden shoe) containing a doll. Their manner of dress is Dutch, and they have the wooden shoes, and Dutch hats as well. The plate has border trim, that is both embossed, and has three areas of painted flowers. Condition is nice, there is one scratch in the paint near the bottom of the girl’s skirt, and the back under rim has several minor small fleabites, under the glaze, so done in manufacturing. The saucer is 5 inches across and has two bunches of flowers on each side, and no condition problems, and matches the plate, with embossed decoration, and the scalloped edge design. The handled cup has a picture of two girls talking to each other and one is holding a basket of fruit with what looks to be a pear in her hand. The smaller girl is dangling a doll from her hand. Again, the manner of dress is Dutch, with the wooden shoes, and Dutch style hats. Cup is 2 ¾ inches in height and 2 ¾ inches across the top rim, and in nice condition. Has a very delicate patterned handle, and matches the embossed theme of the plate and saucer. None of the pieces have any markings as to the maker. Must never have been used by a child, to still be in such nice condition.

This is a lovely unmarked Oriental style ceramic vase. It has a beautiful floral pattern in red, blue and white on an off white background. It is trimmed in gold. A very pretty one to use and display. A Great Gift Idea!

This is an offering for a very hard to find early Pfaltzgraff Art Pottery uranium orange 5-1/4" high vase. Mold marked 104. This shape is shown in the 1935 Pottery by Pfaltzgraff catalog as shape number 104. There is light crazing with some staining on the interior only and has no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs. Shipping for this outstanding addition to your collection is $8.00.

This divided, 3-part childs warming bowl by Excello is chrome with a pottery insert, and it comes with a rare matching lid. The handles and lid finial are olive green Bakelite. This is a food warmer type bowl - it's designed to be filled with hot water to keep the baby's food warm, and the cover helps with that too. The dish is 8" diameter, 10-1/2" handle to handle, by 2" high to the rim (not including the lid).

In each of the divided sections is a different Southwestern scene - a boy wearing a sombrero with Mexican pottery, a girl in sombrero with a duck, and a Mexican village scene with cactus, palm tree, adobe buildings, a woman with a pot on her head, and a man with a burro. The cork stopper has a pink ceramic top and doesn't quite match - it may be a replacement. The dish dates to the 1930s and reflects the popular Mexicana or Mission Fiesta kitchen themes of the era.

The bowl has no chips or cracks but it is crazed, with staining to the craze lines on the left half of the dish. The chrome body and cover are shiny and clean, in excellent condition with no pitting or scratches, though there are a couple of very slight dings at the edges of the lid. The underside is marked Excello Chromium Made In U.S.A.

Early juvenile feeding dishes often had an educational or even disciplinary theme, sometimes stern, sometimes amusing. This Bavaria porcelain baby plate depicts a pair of young Pierrots trying to smoke cigars. Unfortunately there is wear to one of the faces, but it's obvious that the smoke is making one boy cough or feel ill, and the other seems to be trying to show him the proper technique (or possibly taunting the reluctant Pierrot). A box of cigars is spilling out on the bench beside them. The words Baby's Plate appear underneath the scene, but the words are badly faded. It's an unusual theme for a childs dish.

The bowl is 7-1/2" diameter with a straight sided 1" deep rim. It probably dates to the first decade of the 1900s. The china is hard paste, very white in color with a shiny glaze. The back is marked in green PM Bavaria inside a wreath with a crown on top. This is a mark of the Moschendorf porcelain factory. As you can see the bowl was much used and does have design wear. There is one small, thin chip, barely bigger than a flake, on the underside of the rim (not visible from the top when looking down though you would probably see it if you were eye level to the rim). There are no other chips, and no hairlines, cracks, or crazing.

This vintage 8-1/4" restaurant ware grill plate by Walker China of Bedford Ohio features transfer decal illustrations of nursery rhyme and fairy tale characters in each of the three divided sections: the Three Little Kittens, Mary Had A Little Lamb, and Little Red Riding Hood. The designs are in colors of red or pink, green, and gray.

The heavy commercial quality plate is in very good condition with some light utensil and stacking marks to the glaze but no damage. The date code system used by the company is a bit confusing - according to my books it could have been made in either 1939 or 1961, but I believe the latter date is probably correct based on the company's logo above the date code.

This 1924 child's cup or mug was an advertising premium for Ovaltine, made by Sebring Pottery. It features Uncle Wiggily (often misspelled Wiggly) and Grandpa Goosey Gander arm-in-arm with the "Ovaltine House" in the background. The artwork is signed Lang Campbell, the original illustrator of the Uncle Wiggily books and comic strips. On the back of the mug is Uncle Wiggily at a run with the words "Uncle Wiggily Wants His Ovaltine".

Juvenile advertising china pieces were usually giveaways or very low priced. They were produced inexpensively and were often not the highest quality - the kids cared about the characters, not the aesthetics of their dishes. The mug's handle has a thin, small stress separation at the base which is under glaze and occurred during manufacture. There is crazing, wear to the blue band at the rim, and some pinpoint glaze fleabites at the rim, a couple of which have caused minor staining. There is also some staining at the underside base. The mug has no cracks, hairlines or structural damage but it was apparently much loved and used by its owner.

This Sango Occupied Japan child's mug or cup is just over 3" high by 3" diameter at the rim. It's decorated with sprays of violets and has the phrase "For a Little Shaver" printed in gold at the top of the mug. The underside is marked "Sango China, Made in Occupied Japan". Very, very slight wear to the gold ring at the upper rim, otherwise excellent condition.

The term "little shaver" is often thought to refer only to boys but actually in the old days it was used to refer to small children of either gender. I'm unsure whether this mug was meant as a toy shaving mug (it does have the right shape if not decoration) or as a child's drinking cup.
