WONDERFUL OLD PIECE OF HANDMADE, HEAVY POTTERY. IT HAS PROBLEMS. BODY HAS SCRATCHES AND WEAR. POORLY PAINTED REPAIRS. HANDLES, RIM AND SOME PLACES ON THE BODY HAVE BEEN PAINTED, PAINT IS SLIGHTLY OFF COLOR, A LITTLE DARKER AND DULL. LOOKS LIKE THEY USED POSTER PAINT. I CAN'T SEE ANY REPAIRS/PATCHES ON THE RIM OR HANDLES BUT I CAN SEE ONE ON THE SIDE ABOUT 4in UP FROM THE BASE. MUCH OF THE PAINT LOOKS LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO COVER UP WORN AREAS ON THE GLAZE.

DOESN'T LOOK BAD WHEN SITTING ON A SHELF BUT VISIBLE WHEN HELD IN MY HAND. HAS OVER ALL AGE GLAZE CRAZING VISIBLE FROM THE INTERIOR.

This piece is sold as-is. No returns. Please see pictures and ask questions before ordering.

Two large, tall side vases and a central large squat vase, all hand decorated with stylised acanthus scroll designs. Underneath the central vase is the impressed mark with Dresser’s signature and the Ault Pottery mark. Also the letters 146 (I think that’s correct). This set has been illustrated in books on Dresser. A rare set. Dates to very early 20th century.

Condition: One of the tall vases has a restored neck - this is an old restoration and has discoloured a bit with age. The actual work is excellent, but the colour of the mottled dusky dark mauve/brown shade of the vase has faded to a slightly mustard tinge (see photos). The other vase is excellent and unrestored. The central squat vase is all original also. It has a small shallow surface chip where there is a stress line at the point where the handles have been attached to the neck of the vase (top - see photo 4).
