In 1916, the city of Newark was 250 years old, and a great celebration took place. The Mosaic Tile Company was obviously commissioned to produce a tile in honor of this occasion. This hexagonal tile measures 3 1/2" from point to point, and a profile of the Captain is done in high relief on the tile's surface. The back is dated and heavily marked! This tile was also part of Mr. Sigafoose's tile collection. There is one minor shallow chip on the back - the tile is in generally excellent condition. (#T-1183)

This is an offering for a gorgeous Cambridge Art Pottery Wheel thrown pitcher measuring 8-3/8" high. I've got a theory about this piece. This looks strikingly like pitchers made by Matt Carlton at Bauer Pottery 10-30 later than this piece was made. This piece was made 1902-1908ish. The style is the same at his Dutch pitchers, the heft is the same, pronounced finger rings on the interior and smooth on the exterior, and the 'Matt Carlton Hitch' is at the base. Since Matt Carlton started out working on pottery in the 1880's in Arkansas, where else did he work at until the mid-teens? There are about 5 pinhead size glaze flakes on the heavily glazed foot and no other wear for 100 years. Shipping for this item is $8.00.    Wallace China Cup and Saucer.
