16" x 10" Excellent pair of European Japonist vases. Mark obscured, if you recognize it, please advise. After Japanese ports reopened to trade with the West in 1853, a tidal wave of foreign imports flooded European shores. On the crest of that wave were woodcut prints by masters of the ukiyo-e school which transformed Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art by demonstrating that simple, transitory, everyday subjects from "the floating world" could be presented in appealingly decorative ways. Some of the finest pottery evolved in he period.

Dish, M Chulki, Love Space With Lamanita, Design by Lamanita. This dish measures 6 1/2" by 4 5/8". There are three available. It is beautifully decorated with sunflowers and bright blue bows with ribbons embossed on two corners. It would be perfect on your table with some hordeuvres or other goodies. A wonderful addition to any kitchen. Great new condition without chips or cracks and the "M Chulki Love Space With Lamanita: mark.  Rectangular Dish, Sunflowers, M Chulki, Love Space With Lamanita pattern. This dish measures 9" long by 6 3/4" in width. It is beautifully decorated with sunflowers and bright blue bows with ribbons embossed on two corners. It would be perfect on your table with some hordeuvres or other goodies. In like-new condition with "M Chulki Love Space With Lamanita" mark.  Sweet Porcelain Bisque Piano Baby Figurine painted in soft, pastel colors of green with gold trim, blue eyes, yellow hair and light, rosy blushes of color on the skin. Measures 5 1/2'' tall. Unmarked, unsure of age or origin, but we believe it is not terribly old. These were made originally to hold scarves in place on a piano. This little girl has her hands up, possibly to hold up the draped edges (or even flowers). No chips, cracks or crazing, but she could use a touch of cleaning.

This 3 piece set of Porcelain Black Cats is unmarked, however has the red clay used by some vintage Made in Japan pieces. Mama cat stands 4 5/8'' tall, the babies are 1 5/8'' tall. There is some minor paint rub on the red cold paint and a little white rubbed on one the babies eyes. No chips, cracks or crazing.  Vintage Pale Blue Mini Shoe with Pink Floral Decoration and heavy gold trim. Unmarked, likely made in Japan--it is definitely not a reproduction. The colors are subtle and the pink flowers appear hand painted. This a very pretty miniature shoe.  This pair of Hand Painted Oriental Style Handled Vases decorated with orange poppies on a body of shaded blue. These are signed Camp Sutton NC on the bottom side (the signature of one is smudged). Research indicates that Camp Sutton was opened as an army training center in 1942 and named for the first NC casualty of World War II, Frank Sutton. From 1944-1946 it served as a POW camp for captured German soldiers. The camp was replaced by industry after the war. We really don't know who made these vases, (don't think a POW camp would have been a tourist attraction) but they do appear to be from the 1940s. The vases were probably blanks (not sure from where) that were then decorated at the camp. The clay underneath is a pinkish/flesh color. The interior is glazed white. Because they were hand decorated there are a couple of little boos--dark smudges and wiggly lines. Each measures 4 3/4'' tall and 2 3/4'' in diameter. No chips, cracks or crazing. If anyone knows any more history regarding these vases, please let me know. These little vases are charming.  7.25x6.5x12.5" Only numbered, but clearly an Amphora masterpiece. Thrice, molded, sculpted, & applied ornamentation, this heavy walled ceramic beauty, smiles blithely. Her necklace is of pseudo gold nuggets. Numbered #1075, pristine condition.
