Batchelder tile with a large single tulip in a cartouche. Done in classic matte finish with brown and blue (in the recesses), this tile was made by Batchelder, in Los Angeles, California, circa 1920. Measuring 5 7/8" square by 3/4" thick. The tile has obviously been de-installed and has minor remains of mortar on the back. Minor mortar in some recesses on the front. This is design #441 in the Batchelder tiles catalog. (#1901-4578)


Key words: ceramics art pottery tiles vintage Craftsman  This Batchelder tile depicts three large leaves on a curled stem in a diamond, with neat looking animals in the corners. Done in a matte grayish brown finish, with a blue engobe in the recesses, this measures 5 3/4" square by 5/8" thick. It is design #37 in the Batchelder Tile catalog. This de-installed tile has a good front tile surface, very minor chips to the back/side edges and some slight mortar/grout in a couple of the recesses. The back shows the de-installation and some remaining mortar. Circa 1920's. (#1901-4567)

Done in a matte gray to beige finish, with a blue engobe in the recesses, this measures 5 n 5/8" square by 5/8" thick. It is design #444 in the Batchelder Tile catalog. This de-installed tile has a good front tile surface. There's a small chip in the wings of the bird on the left and a top right corner chip, minor mortar/grout in the recesses. The back shows the de-installation and some remaining mortar. Circa 1920's. (#1922-4580)

Prancing Deer Tile by Batchelder Los Ang $165.00

Large lustre ware sugar bowl and lid in an attractive two tone design.  Measures 5 1/4" from the lid to the base. Stamped Made in Japan in black on the bottom. No chips or cracks and no crazing.   Lustreware creamer in a beautiful two tone design.  Stamped Made in Japan in black on the bottom.  Measures 3 1/2" from the lip to the base.  A purple lustre ware porcelain dish that is great for your bon-bons or mints.  There is a bit of wear to the lustre on the bottom of the dish, but a small paper or cloth coaster will hide that.  Shaped like a leaf, with an open handle and scalloped edges, this is a beautiful piece.  The underside is white glazed porcelain and unmarked.  No chips or cracks.  Two handpainted blue lusterwear saucers with the red leaf and branch mark and the words Made in Japan in red.  Mild wear and manufacturer's bumps.

Handpainted Blue Lustre Saucers $6.00

Two blue lustrewear saucers with handpainted blossoms.  There are manufacturer's "digs" on one saucer, and a "bump" on the rim of the other.  However, there are no chips or cracks.  Red leaf and branches mark and the works Made in Japan.  Darker blue handpainted lustrewear cup and plate with an unusual floral design.  The plate is the size of a salad plate and has a red Made in Japan mark with leaves and branches.  The cup is unmarked.  There is mild wear to the finish on the plate, the cup is in good condition but for one small chip on the inside of the rim and a manufacturer's pockmark on the inside of the cup.  Still quite pretty.  These look nice on a shelf. Please note that there is only one cup in this listing even though the photo shows three.
