Porcelain and Pottery: Bennington

What's New in the Collector's Showcase of Porcelain and Pottery: Bennington?

Nice antique buttermilk pitcher. It is either Rockingham by Bennington or Nurock by Brush McCoy; both made similar items. No distracting chips or cracks. Bottom has one small old chip which might just be a large glaze pop; it really doesn't show unless looking for it and it doesn't affect stance. This pitcher is 6.5 tall x 7 long. 8/11smc  Beagle Dog Bank, Marston Calif., vintage. This Beagle bank measures 11" long by 8 1/4" high. The dog is beautifully decorated and highly glazed in brown, black, gray and white. He is in very good vintage condition with two tiny flea bites from years of use. They are about the size of a pin head. He has lovely overall crazing. The bottom of the bank is incised "Marston Calif USA" (see last photo).

Antique Rockingham bread tray. c:1800's. Has wheat design on ends and raised words: 'Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread'. It was likely made by Bennington, but could be another company. It is 12 long x 10 wide. No chips or cracks; has a 3/4 inch factory glaze miss on flat portion; one bump in glaze; and some scratching. I would venture to say this is a very rare item, so if you collect antique Rockingham, this is a great piece for your collection! It looks like the 60's brown dinnerware in the picture, but when you see it in person, it is not that ugly stuff! Purchased from DuMouchelles-mc1.07  Antique Parian Ware pitcher. c:1800's. It has a fern and flower pattern; stands 8.5 tall x 5.5 wide at bottom. Has one small chip off bottom rim edge, [pic. 5], but no other chips or cracks. There is in incised 'v' or 'l' on bottom depending on how you look at it. Looks like a Bennington pitcher; (the book shows an almost identical pitcher, but handle is slightly fancier on this one than the book). This came from a historical estate in Troy, MI. Price reflects the chip on bottom rim. 10/06nahaucs
