What's New in the Collector's Showcase of Porcelain and Pottery: Flow Blue?
The Most Recent Additions to This Category are First!
A Fabulous, Antique piece of Staffordshire pottery from Brown, Westhead & Moore who subsequently became Cauldon & Royal Cauldon China. The piece has the Diamond registration Mark for 1877 and so is a wonderful piece of history. The pattern feaatures what appear to be Swallows amidst various foliage and large Stylised Flower Heads. There are feint signs that the edges were originally gilded but these have all but disappeared with the passage of time. No signs of damage to a rare or even possibly UNIQUE item.  MELBOURNE dinner plate with gilded edge and blue underglaze Grindley mark. 10". Several available.  Vintage flow blue sauce tureen or sugar bowl, marked Nonpareil, by T.J.&J.Mayer, Longport. c.1843 to mid-1850's. There is also an impressed #20. Size: 7 in.long x 4 1/2 in.wide x 4 1/2 in.high. Condition-no lid, no crazing. Has 1 stress crack at a handle bottom. Does have chips on the handles, inner edge & 1 on the top edge(see detail photo), none on bottom edge, a few very tiny glaze chips on the neck edge, and a small glaze chip on both main sides. All are very old damage. It is still a very beautiful piece despite condition! Priced according to condition. Shipping 3lb.zoned priority mail including delivery confirmation, plus insurance. UPS is also available.  Vintage English flow blue cake plate, uncertain of pattern name. Marked Semi Porcelain, Warranted over an anchor, registered 1911. Excellent condition-no chips, does have crazing and some utensil marks. Front has a spot where a small grease stain started at a kiln stilt mark. There is a line on the front near the center that looks like a dark craze line, I don't believe it's a crack though it corresponds to a similar line on the back. It does thud though when lightly tapped. 10 3/4 in. x 10 1/4 in.. A beautiful display piece! Shipping 3lb.zoned US priority mail including delivery confirmation plus optional insurance.

Antique French China Co. flow blue platter. c.1900-1932, French China Co., Sebring, Ohio. Lovely, large antique heavy platter marked: La Francais Porcelain on the back. It features dahlias/mums with cosmos/zinnias. It has no chips or cracks, but does have some age smudges, crazing, and spidering. A French China Co. platter is shown in M. Gaston's 1994 book on Flow Blue, (not nearly as beautiful as this one), and was valued at $225.00 in 1996, see pg. 160). This platter measures 15 by 11 inches wide. Beautiful to use as a table centerpiece or to hang on a wall, or put in the china cabinet. The mark is shown in the book titled Decorative American Pottery by Jamie Wilby, 2004 edit. If you do not like the authentic vintage look you can use a 90% hydrogen peroxide to soak out the smudgies according to that book. The 11/7/05 Auction Exchange paper had an article on Flow Blue; the French China Co. is listed as being one of the limited number of American potters that produced flow blue in America.  Lovely English flow blue dinner plate, by W.
