A beautiful french majolica plate in whiteglaze. This 8 1/2 inch square plate features scalloped corners and sea urchins centered with a mermaid on a flying winged fish. Very good condition with one small flake to back (see picture) Marked on back PV Made in France.  Remarkable Majolica Bamboo and Basket dessert or salad plate circa late 1800's. This hard to find plate has a wonderful basket weave pattern with bamboo flowers and is approximately 7.75 inches in diameter. This plate is in good condition with no nicks, chips or cracks, there is a very fine crazing but no flaking of the glaze, and some light use marks only seen in reflective lighting. There are couple of brown pin point marks on the center edge of the plate as shown in the pictures. The back shows some staining and has some type of circle markings as shown in the pictures also. . We have seen this pattern attributed to Banks & Thorley, but haven't seen these markings attributed to them. You can find a picture of a cup and saucer of this pattern in the book The Collector's Encyclopedia of Majolica by Marian Katz-Marks.  Wonderful Majolica Bamboo and Basket Weave Cup & Saucer circa late 1800's. Both the cup and saucer has a wonderful basket weave and both also have bamboo flowers along the handle of the cup having a bamboo look. The saucer is approximately 5.93 inches in diameter, has some light use marks only seen in reflective light and is in good condition for its age. There are no nicks, chips or cracks, there is a fine crazing all over and on the back there is slight staining and you will find markings of circles. The cup is approximately 2.50 inches tall and 3.37 inches in diameter and has been used. There is staining and crazing present and it looks like there is one small hairline fracture as shown in the pictures. The bottom also has the circular makings like the saucer. We have seen this pattern attributed to Banks & Thorley, but haven't seen these markings attributed to them. You can find a picture of this set in the book The Collector's Encyclopedia of Majolica by Marian Katz-Marks.  Victorian majolica small jardiniere - chocolate brown with green floral decoration and blue leaf ornamentation. Inside is lime green and chocolate glaze. Measurements: 15 cm high and 19 cm diameter. just under 6 inches by 7.1/2 inches). There are a few glaze faults - missing patches around the inside rim, and one patch on top of the rim - none at all on the outside. No cracks or crazing. Glaze faults could be coloured down.

Majolica Victorian Jardiniere. $128.00
Three large jugs, Victorian majolica - design is a tree stump with berry vine growing around it. Insides are a stone-olive green. Largest jug measures 21.5 cm high and 20 cm wide handle to spout. Smallest measures 16.5 cm high and 16 cm wide. (8.1/2 inches and 8 inches for the largest, and 6.1/2 inches by 6.1/4 inches for the smallest. Underneath, largest has the figures "17", medium has the figures "15" and an embossed "H". Smallest just has an embossed "T". The medium jug has a chip to the lip, otherwise there is no damage to the set. Late 19th century Victorian period.  This is one of those silly/strange Victorian majolica pieces you run into on occasion. Nicely formed and measuring 6 3/4" by 7", more or less circular This wall pocket will add a whimsical note to your majolica or wall pocket collection. Buyer pays shipping and applicable sales tax.  HERE IS A SET OF 6 JARDINS DE PROVANCE POTTERY WINE GOBLETS. (I DID NOT GET THE SPELLING WRONG. IT REALLY DOES SAY PROVANCE AND NOT PROVENCE ON THE BOTTOM STAMP.) THIS PATTERN WOULD LOOK GREAT WITH ANY COUNTRY FRENCH DÉCOR OR FOR AN ITALIAN TUSCANY DESIGN. BRAND NEW AND NEVER USED NOR DISPLAYED! THESE GOBLETS HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HAND PAINTED DESIGN WITH A SILKY SMOOTH, LUSTROUS FINISH. I CANNOT TELL EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF, BUT THEY FEEL HARD AND STRONG LIKE PORCELAIN. THEY STAND 7 1/8 INCHES TALL X 3 1/4 INCHES WIDE AT THE RIM. BEAUTIFUL WARM COLORS. ALL GOBLETS ARE WELL MATCHED IN THEIR PAINTING. THIS SET WILL LOOK GREAT ON YOUR DINNER TABLE, BUFFET, OR BAR!  This item is a beautiful older Majolica Plate. It is made in the shape of a leaf and has pink and yellow daisies in the center which is circled by a ring of pink. This Plate is about 9 and 1/4 inches across at its widest part. The underside of the plate is unmarked. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.

Vintage Majolica Plate $215.00
This item is an older unmarked Majolica Pitcher. It is unique in that it has the appearance of a tree with flowers and leaves. This Pitcher is about 7 inches high and 6 and 1/4 inches from lip to handle. Other than two (2) small glaze cracks near the handle (see photos), this piece is in wonderful condition with no cracks or crazing.  This item is aGerman made Majolica Plate. It has a basket weave type design and is decorated with flowers, cherries and leaves. The Plate is about 7 and 1/2 inches across. The underside is marked Made in Germany and Zell with an S inside a circle and Am Harmarsbach. It also has the incised number 2897. This Plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. I have another identical Plate available for sale if you want a matching pair.  This plate is Portuguese majolica, made by the old firm of Bordallo Pinheiro in Portugal, long famed for majolica. I believe this may be the underplate for the melon bowl. See the closeup picture to see how faithfully the artist rendered the plate to look like the rind of a melon. The reverse side is high gloss yellow. 7" wide and in excellent condition.  Fugural Majolica style Duck or Goose. Age and Maker unknown. Green, gold and brown under gloss glaze over cream color porcelain or clay. Measures 3 5/8 inches tall. No chips, cracks or crazing. Great Gift Item or addition to a Majolica Pottery, Figurine, or Duck Collection.

It has rope detailing to handle and neck, and water lily and pond design to body. Jug measures 6.8 cm high and about 14 cm wide handle included (2.3/4 inches by 5.1/2 inches). Very good condition, minor glaze crazing.  Late 19th century Victorian period majolica jardiniere. Decoration is acanthus leaves and flower heads on pineapple type background. Jardiniere measures 19 cm high and 21 cm diameter (7.1/2 inches by 8.1/4 inches). Turquoise green glaze to the inside. Very good condition - no chips or cracks. Has one scar to the glaze in the inside rim, and some crazing internally only.  Large round majolica platter, with relief floral design and rich cobalt blue background. European. It measures approx. 33 cm diameter (13 inches). There is a small repair to the rim, otherwise perfect.

Large Continental Floral Majolica Platte $140.00
Thgis iutem is a lovely older Majolica Lidded Biscuit Jar. It is a beautiful dark blue with colorful molded flowers around the outside. The Biscuit Jar has a metal handle, rim and lid, which I believe may be pewter. This Buscuit Jar is about 6 inches high to the top of the handle. The Jar itself is about 3 inches high and 5 and 1/4 inches across. The bottom of the Buscuit Jar has the incised numbers of 2997 and 22. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and only some light crazing.  Vintage Gold Lustre Majolica Pottery Creamer Castle Peasant Pub. Unusual Creamer with a Gloss Navy band with Raised Snowflakes and scenes on each side. Somewhat reminds me of Majolica. There is a row of beads above and below the naby background. Top and bottom are gold lustre, handle is just ivory, the color of the clay. One depicts a Pub with a Peasant Man holding a mandolin and embracing a not so willing bar maid. The opposite side shows a Castle nestled among the trees on a hill. Incised on bottom with the number 3207 and a logo, shown in photo. Maker unknown. Measures 2.75 inches high. No chips, cracks, stains, or paint wear. Very nice. Would be nice bar decor or addition to a Creamer collection.  Bisque Tulip Vase with 3 openings for placing Flowers. Decorated with Capo di monte or Majolica Roses and accented all over with Gold Gilt highlights. Great pastel coloring. Detailed painting on the face, dress, and shoes. Marked on the bottom. No chips or cracks. Minor water staining on the interior.  Old majolica jug, with relief decoration of barrel wood with cooper’s bands, and a vine, which could be hops, making this an ale jug. Inside is a pink/lilac glaze. Minor faults - a little glaze and colour loss to the bottom of the handle attachment, otherwise very good indeed. Jug measures 16 cm high and 13 cm wide handle to spout (6.1/4 inches by about 5 inches). Early 20th century.

Beautiful Fitz and Floyd Majolica Pitcher with green and cobalt blue body, multi-colored tropical flowers and brown twig handle. Marked on bottom Fitz and Floyd 1994 incised, Hand Painted and FF China paper labels. Measures 7 1/2'' tall and 7 1/2'' wide handle to spout. Newer Pitcher but Fitz and Floyd quality.  This item is a lovely Majolica Jardiniere which has a multicolored leaf and floralm design on a blue background. This Jardiniere is about 7 and 1/2 inches high and 6 and 1/2 inches across. It is in excellent condition without any chips, cracks or crazing.  This American Majolica plate was manufactured around 1870 by the Chesapeake Pottery-D.F. Haynes and Son Company of Baltimore, Maryland. This plate features the blackberry pattern on a cream background. The eight inch plate is in good condition with minor surface wear consistent with it's age. There has been a professional repair to a small chip on the back rim. Virginia buys to pay 5% sales tax. Buyer pays shipping.  The photos tell the story for this 8 inch plate. Crisp mold, bright colors, and excellent condition. Marked in India Ink on a small unglazed spot on the plate bottom. The meanings of these marks are not known but they are typical of Jones, and I have owned examples of this plate with the factory mark. This plate was part of a strawberry serving set that included the large 1873 serving dish pictured on page 53 of Robert Cluett's GEORGE JONES CERAMICS 1861 - 1951.

This is a gorgeous majolica platter from the famed Swedish maker, Rorstrand. It is in superb condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, restorations, etc. There is some crazing, which is normal for a platter of this age. Dimensions: 13 inches long x 9 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches high. Rorstand majolica is highly sought after and quite beautiful. The colors on this platter are vibrant and beautiful! The mark has been used since 1884. This would be a fabulous addition to any majolica collection!  An 8" Majolica plate from the famous old Bordallo Pinheiro Pottery in Portugal. In excellent condition.  Lovely simple vase marked Made in Japan Shofu. Done in a blue luster. Seems this company went out of business in 1965. It is in excellent condition. Stands 6" tall.  Old Majolica Polychrome Double Handle Lizard Vase decorated with 7 Flowers in Pink Blue and Yellow with Brown Stems accented in Blue and Gold. Jar is marked with a lightly incised underglaze double sword. My Kovels shows several companies which used swords, but none we can pinpoint as an exact match. Measures 3 1/2'' tall and 3 1/4'' in diameter. There is a teeny glaze rub on the edge of the leaf (very hard to see). No chips, cracks or crazing.  Majolica flower and picket fence sugar jar. It looks like a lilac? flower with leaves and picket fence. It stands 5.5 tall. Interior is crazed and a bit discolored. Exterior rim has a couple of teensy edge flakes. There is a tight hairline on lid and a tiny curved hairline on top rim; both are shown in pic #8. Overall condition is what I consider 'good vintage' for majolica which is prone to flakes and cracks. Age est: late 19th, early 20th C.
