Lidded Cheese Dish, Outta Hand, designed by Amy Hetrick. This lovely cheese dish is 10 3/4" long, 7 3/4" wide and approximately 5 3/4" tall. The vibrant colors are beautiful and it would make a stunning addition to one's dining table. It has one tiny under the glaze flek and is otherwise in perfect condition. It has the "Outta Hand Designed by Amy Hetrick" mark.  Jugtown Pottery, a working pottery and an American Craft Shop, is located in a grove of trees and bamboo eight miles south of Seagrove, NC in the community of Westmoore. It is just off Busbee Road, a road named for Jacques and Juliana Busbee, the founders of Jugtown.

Both artists, with a love of pottery, they began stamping Jugtown pieces in 1922, after running a Tea and American Craft shop in New York City beginning in 1917.

Today Jugtown follows the same approach to pottery as laid out by the Busbee's. Owner, Vernon Owens, recipient of the NC Folk Heritage Award and the NEA National Heritage Fellowship, wife Pam, and son Travis are the main potters; while Bobby Owens mixes clay and glazes the pieces. Form comes first, a simple continuous line, then a complimentary glaze and occasional decoration. These handmade pieces that are either wood or gas fired.

Drawing from the tradition, you will find traditional jugs and candlesticks in wood fired salt glaze and frogskin, and tableware's in green, blue, brown and gray.

You will also find deceptively simple vases, bowls and jars in glazes made with wood ash, local clays, copper reds, greens and iron earthtones.

This piece is stamped Jugtown Ware 1990 on the bottom.

This piece is 5 1/4 inch in diameter & 2 1/4" tall and is in excellent condition and will make a great addition to your pottery collection.  This is an Owen Minerva "Grace Jug". It is 7 1/4" handle to spout and 7 1/4" tall and it has a 5" footed base. It is a light brownish tan color, has a picture of a southern belle and a raised swag trim around the top edge. It dates to 1902 and is in good condition for age. It has some crazing, some rubbing of the color. It also has three hairlines- one is on one side of the handle and two are on the other side of the handle. It also has a chip just before the spout on the top rim. See picture for these conditions.
