Cat Trinket Box, Lidded, Takahashi, Japan, Porcelain.  This cute little cat is 4" long and 3 1/2" high.  He is beige colored with black and dark brown highlights.  A perfect container for small jewelry, rings or other trinkets.   It is in excellent condition with a Takahashi label.  Watermelon Teapot, Takahashi, Hand Painted.  This cute teapot is 4 1/2" tall--5 3/8" to the top of the lid.  The watermelon seeds are textured in an embossed style. It is in excellent condition -- no chips or cracks.  The bottom is stamped:  "Hand Painted Takahashi San Francisco Japan".  A mid 19th century 8" temperance child’s plate with molded daisy border and a central transfer print based on one of a series of illustrations by George Cruikshank c.1847.  The plate is titled "The Bottle - Plate III" (3rd in a series of 8) "An execution sweeps off the greater part of their furniture". - "They comfort themselves with the bottle". Unmarked, but possibly by the Middlesborough Pottery, For similar plates see "Gifts for Good Children 1790-1890", by Noel Riley pages 264-266. In good condition with expected all over light age crazing.

The plate is titled "The Bottle - Plate 2" ( 2nd in a series of 8) "He is discharged from his employment for his drunkenness". - "they pawm thier clothes to supply the bottle". Unmarked, but possibly by the Middlesborough Pottery. For similar plates see "Gifts for Good Children 1790-1890", by Noel Riley pages 264-266. In good condition with expected all over light age crazing.

A mid 19th century 8" temperance child’s plate with molded daisy border and a central transfer print based on one of a series of illustrations by George Cruikshank c.1847. The plate is titled "The Bottle - Plate 1 ( 1st in a series of 8). The bottle is brought out for the first time ". - "The husband indulges his wife just to take a drop". Unmarked, but possibly by the Middlesborough Pottery. For similar plates see "Gifts for Good Children 1790-1890", by Noel Riley pages 264-266. In good condition with expected all over light age crazing.

Unmarked, but possibly by the Middlesborough Pottery, For similar plates see "Gifts for Good Children 1790-1890", by Noel Riley pages 264-266. In good condition with expected all over light age crazing.

 A hand colored octagonal temperance plate with raised daisy border. The title reads "The drunkard shall not enter the kingdom of God". An angel holds a plaque reading "Intemperance is Ireland's bane, England's curse and Scotland's woe". An eye looks down from above. In very good condition with a little age crazing. For a similar plate see "Gifts for Good Children" 1790-1980 by Noel Riley #1053.  'Sobriety, freedom, domestic comfort & temperance' 'Be thou faithful unto death'. Puce with a luster border in excellent condition.

GOOD TEMPERANCE PLATE MID 19th CENTURY O $110.00

 

MID 19th CENTURY TEMPERANCE SAUCER. $19.50

Pair of Candlestick Holders, Art Nouveau, Takahashi, San Francisco, Made in Japan. These lovely figural candlestick holders measure 4" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter.  They are hand painted in pearl gray and off white.  Each one has an opening flower bud snaking around the stem and the actual candle holder is a delicate open flower.  The holders are in very nice condition, with the Takahashi San Francisco Hand Painted mark.  The Independent Order of Rechabites was a friendly society founded in England in 1835 as part of the temperance movement. A bone china 125th anniversary mug in excellent condition.  1832 JOSEPH LIVESEY founder of the temperance movement and seven workingmen signed a pledge that they would never again drink alcohol. Other groups of working men followed the example of Livesey and his friends and by 1835 the British Association for the Promotion of Temperance was formed. A rare cup & saucer with the the registration mark for 1884 The year of his death. Small 1/2" hairline on the cup above portrait.

                                                           Vintage Leaf Dish, Takahashi,  San Francisco, East Wind.   This pretty dish is 5 1/4" by 5 1/4" and 1 1//8" deep.  It has a scalloped edge and  embossed lines that run from the edge to the lip of the dish.  In the center is painted a black, brown and yellow bird, sitting on the limb of a flower bush, with pink flowers  and pink and white buds emanating from the stem.    This dish could be used for trinkets, or small food items.  It is in excellent condition with a Takahashi label.

Takahashi Porcelain East Wind Leaf Dish $4.99

Flower Pitcher Vase, Takahashi.  This beautiful vase is 11" tall to the top of the handle and 5 3/8" across the base.  The lovely glaze on both the inside and outside of the vase increases its beauty.  It's embossed with long-stemmed flowers that are blooming around the top edge.  They are white and yellow, the rest of the vase is done in varying shades of green.  Another pretty feature is the handle.  It is a flower stem and the flower is in bloom where the handle meets the top of the vase.  The effect is just so pretty.  The vase is in excellent condition--looks like it's never been used.  It has the Takahashi label on the base.  Vintage Iris Vase, Takahashi, San Francisco, Made in Japan.  This lovely vase is 6" high and 2 3/8" across the base.  It is decorated with beautiful blue and purple irises, interspersed with pink, white and yellow narcissus.  It is in excellent condition--no flaws.  The base is marked "Iris San Francisco" and has the Takahashi label.
