An unidentified brown transferware  dinnerware piece that may be a "mitten" relish.  It is a perfect size used as a large spoon rest for cooking spoons and ladles.  This is a 19th century transferware pattern, likely from Staffordshire England. The relish or spoon rest has gold trim with a mixed floral pattern inside a geometric trim. Marked only with an impressed B.  1.5x9x6 In very good condition, with light crackalure and even staining.   Set of 4 Vanity pattern dinner plates made ca. 1902-1926 by Dudson, Wilcox & Till Ltd. Hanley, England.  This is transferware in a flow blue pattern that shows the traditional chinoiserie influence.  Depicts a preening bird on a branch, with surrounding medallions.  

The plates are 10" in diameter and show some staining and crazing, 2 have back rim chips which do not show from the front.  

Would make an excellent wall mounted display.  This is an antique Staffordshire England Oriental Poychrome cup and saucer or tea bowl made from 1820s. The oriental design is polychrome hand painted enamel paint over pink or red transfer. The cup is 2.25 inches high and the deep saucer or tea bowl is 1.25 inches high by 5.65 in diameter with no maker's marks except the script number 153 on the saucer which is normal. The cup and saucer is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few mineral impurities or kiln dust present which is normal for this early era. A beautiful example of Oriental Polychrome from Staffordshire.  A huge transferware Tureen made by Royal Staffordshire in England after 1884 and before 1914.  The pattern is Marseilles and is a blue and white swag pattern of blossoms and bows.  This tureen is definitely a WOW item. 7" tall and 14.5" wide including the handles.  In excellent condition except for minor gold trim loss.

This lovely 19th century blue & white transfer pattern was manufactured by William Ridgway of England from the mid 1850's through approx. 1920. Very well done with great detail, this attractive pattern features a center scene with smaller scenes enclosed in medallions on the  border.  This attractive relish dish measures 8 3/4" long and 5" wide.  It is in excellent condition, free of any chips, hairlines, cracks or discolorations.  There is some minor wear to the gold trim.   This is a vintage hand colored brown transfer or transferware relish dish or oval serving dish in the English Country Scenes pattern made by British Anchor, England in the 1940s. The dish measures 1.25 inches high by 8.75 inches long by 6 inches wide and features an English scene with cottages, a bridge, people and plowing with a floral border on ironstone. The oval relish dish is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. We acquired the dish with a Johnson Brothers Friendly Village dish set where it was being used with that pattern.  This is a red transferware dinner plate made by Barratt's, England in the Elizabethan pattern with a manor house and cows and a berry vine and blossom border made in the 1940s. The ironstone plate measures 10 inches in diameter and is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks and only very mild wear. Neat!  This is an ironstone pink transfer or transferware dinner plate made by Palissy, England in the Thames River Scenes series in the design Eton College. The pink transferware plate measures 10 inches in diameter, has a floral border and was made between 1957=1965. The transferware plate is in excellent condition with no chips cracks or wear and is so decorative. A wonderful piece for the table or the wall.

Vintage English Transferware Pitcher. The Pitcher was made by the Company: Machin and Thomas, Burslem, c.1831-32. Looks like the Company was in Business for only One Year. The Pitcher is the Tocoma Pattern. The Pitcher has Some Wear from age and a Very Minor Chip on the Top Rim. Looks like a Factory Defect on the Inside, near the top of the Handle-as seen in photos. Please e-mail me with any Questions!!!!  This lovely 19th century blue & white transfer pattern was manufactured by William Ridgway of England from the mid 1850's through approx. 1920.  Very well done with great detail, this attractive pattern features a center scene on top and bottom of this double egg cup with gold trim.  The egg cup measures 3 1/2" high and 2 3/8" wide.


The egg cup is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or discolorations with excellent gold retention of the gold trim.  There is some light crazing as can be expected with a piece of this age.  

 This is a fabulous blue transfer ware ironstone 8 inch in diameter romantic Staffordshire plate with the title Landscape made by Midwinter in Staffordshire, England 1910-1920. The plate is seen on page 314 of Petra Williams' Staffordshire Cup Plates And Early Victorian China Vol I. The plates is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks with some crazing consistent with age. Fabulous and so collectible.  Registration mark for 1872, red/pink transferware demitasse saucer, no cup, Farm pattern with cattle. Has an impressed mark partially legible of Indian..., other mark of Old Hall, England, E.W..rest is illegible. Not sure why the differing marks unless it was a factory sample piece. Light crazing, not the ugly kind, light stain on front, chip on edge (see detail photos). Great for any transferware collection!

This square ironstone plate or dish was designed in the 1930s for Royal Staffordshire A.J. Wilkinson potteries, Staffordshire England during the time that Clarice Cliff was art director. It is artist signed with the initials AGH or HGH and measures 10.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches high. It is a plate in a shape called The Biarritz and is in an artist's rendering of the lake at the back of Buckingham Palace and is titled Buckingham Palace with gold trim. It has the British Registry date for 1934. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks or gold wear. A neat piece from a very collectible pottery.  Vintage Game Plates. The Plates have Some Chips and Crazing. The Plates has Snipe Birds on one and Partridge on the Other. The Plates are Signed: Daudin on both. Size of the Plates: 7 inches in Diameter. The teacup and saucer are in very good condition with only 2 old cup rim chips and some age discoloration. A wonderful piece of polychrome transferware and victoriana.  This attractive plate by Adams of England features an illustration from Dickens David Copperfield, Mr. Micauber Makes Some Valedictory Remarks.  In vibrant color, this charming collector's plate measures 9 5/8" wide.

Adams David Copperfield Plate - Mr. Mica

This is a large antique ironstone blue transfer or transferware 10.5 inch in diameter plate made by English Ironstone Tableware, Ltd. Staffordshire England or EIT company 1910-1920s.The plate or charger has a design of a London city scape with Big Ben and Parliament, St. Paul's cathedral, a flower seller and horse drawn street cars. The blue and white plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and has the mark impressed into the back with England. Very decorative and useful, too and is from my personal collection of blue and white ironstone.  This is a K T and K, Knowles, Taylor and Knowles, Ohio, USA black floral transfer or transferware plate in the Dresden pattern made from 1891-1907. The semi porcelain plate measures 9 inches in diameter and has a molded rim and hand applied gold accents and trim. This plate has no maker's mark, but several in the set of plates the mark that is shown here and are listed separately.The plate is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks with no wear to the gold and only some signs of use  This is a black floral transferware plate in the Dresden pattern made by Sampson Bridgewood & Sons, England from 1891-1907. The semi porcelain plate measures 9 inches in diameter and has a molded rim and hand applied gold accents and trim. The plate is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks with no wear to the gold and only some signs of use. This plate is fully marked, but several in the set of plates have no mark and are listed separately.  This is a late Victorian crescent bone dish in a lilacs pattern in polychrome transferware made by T. K. & K. or Knowles, Taylor and Knowles of Ohio, USA 1880-1890s. The slightly scalloped semi vitreous porcelain, a type of ironstone, has gold hand painted accents and gold trim. The crescent dish or bone dish measures 1 inches high by 6.15 inches long by 3.25 inches wide and is in very good condition with no chips or cracks but does have an old firing flaw made during the manufacturing process that is discolored and some gold wear. 


Crescent dishes were developed by the victorians to sit by the dinner plate and collect the bones of the meal. They are used now for salads, sauces, sushi at the dinner table. I keep my glasses in one at night by the bedside. I also use one on my desk for paper clips. The desk doesn't have to be boring!

This is a lug handled cake plate in The Ferry pattern in hand colored brown transfer or transferware made by Swinnertons, England from 1946-1950s. The ironstone Romantic Staffordshire cake serving plate measures 9 inches high by 9.5 inches wide and is in very good ++ condition with only 1 small shallow back rim chip not visible from the front and some utensil marks. A very pretty scene and decorative plate.  Gorgeous set of wonderful glossy off-white colored pottery salt and pepper shakers with transferware rose pattern and silver accents.


Unmarked. have corks. Measure: 3 3/4" tall.  The top of the pepper shaker has a chippy looking defect (1/8" under the glaze from manufacture.  Silver and transfer decoration is in excellent condition. Early set with some clean crazing of glaze.  Great set.

A lovely pattern that is hard to find.  This is a Crown Ducal, England  vintage earthenware 9.75 inch in diameter mulberry transferware plate in the Asiatic Pheasants pattern version called Bristol manufactured in 1930s. The mulberry transferware plate is in good ++ condition with only one old rim chip and one shallow rim chip both not visible from the front, and some use marks. The pattern is a favorite of mine and this is a beautiful color. There is even a biy of hand colored blue on a leaf.

This is a beautiful vintage earthenware 9.75 inch in diameter mulberry transferware plate in the pattern called Bristol which is a version of Asiatic Pheasants manufactured by Crown Ducal, England in the 1930s. This plate is in good condition with one old rim chip, another back rim chip and general use marks. The plate is still very decorative and priced according to condition.  A lovely brown transferware rectangular covered vegetable bowl by T & R Boote, England - circa 1885 - in the Tournay pattern (floral and leaves with scroll). Wonderful condition with no cracks or chips. Interior is very clean. Handles have slight residue and there is slight loss of color.


Measures 11 1/2" long and 6 3/8" wide.  This is a vintage brown transferware cup and saucer with hand coloring made by Samuel Radford, England in the 1960s under a line called Heritage House and the design Colonial overhang. The swirl molded ironstone cup is 2.75 inches high, the saucer is 5.75 in diameter and both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear.  This is an antique English Aesthetic Movement cup and saucer made 1859-1870s by C. A. & Sons, or Charles Allerton, England. The earthenware cup and saucer has a great design with a child and a dog, birds and flowers in typical Aesthetic vignettes in brown transferware. The cup is 2.15 inches high, the saucer is 5.25 in diameter and both pieces have no chips or cracks which is rare. There are the normal impurities from manufacturing as well as an extraneous bit of clay inside the cup under the glaze also done during manufacture. A rare find with a rare child and dog motif.

This is a great red transfer ware or transferware tea pot or coffee pot made by Villeroy and Boch, Germany in the 1980s in the Rusticana pattern which is now no longer made. The red transferware coffee pot measures 9 inches high by 9 inches wide, the design features a rural village and farmer and the 6 cup large coffee pot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. Very pretty and decorative.  This is a lidded sugar bowl made by Villeroy and Boch, Mettlach Germany from the 1900-1920 in the Rusticana pattern of red transferware. The design is a great rural scene. The sugar is 4 inches high and 3.5 inches wide. The sugar is in very good +++ condition with no chips, cracks or wear.  Diamond registration mark dated for 1881, Louise pattern by Wedgwood and Co., brown transferware saucer. Has utensil marks, some usage wear, no cracks or chips, no visible crazing. Bottom has some marks from being stored in newspaper too many years but not too bad. Interesting oriental design with a bird and a small inset of a Chinese boat. Great for collecting or as a replacement piece!  Possibly English, c.1950s, stylized floral teacup with gold accents. 3 1/8 in. high. No saucer. Marked in gold 30/7. Maker unknown. No chips or cracks, no crazing, very minor wear of the gold on the handle. A very pretty cup for a special cup of tea!

Antique English transferware oval vegetable dish, dainty floral pattern. Impressed marks are almost illegible. I could distinguish Crown in a circle, looks like rays or letters outside. The diamond registration mark is illegible. Has normal usage stains, 1 minor edge chip at one end, crazing, 1 stress crack at a side edge. 10 in. long x 6 3/4 in. wide. Great for adding to a set!  This is a large ironstone teapot from the USA with a swirl molded shape and a blue transfer ware hunt scene and floral design on the front of the spout. The teapot is unmarked and dates to the 1920-1930s. The blue and white teapot measures 10 inches long by 8 inches high and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear.  Mason Red and White Transferware small bowl, marking Mason Vista which was used ca 1820  This measuree 1 1/2 inches tall and 6 3/4 in long. Crazing and discoloration on underneath side.  Mason made in England Mark Patent Ironstone, Vista. This bowl measures 3 1/4 height and 6 1/2 opening.  It is very old and has crazing, but no chips, cracks or damages.  Mason mark which was used ca 1820

This is a green and white transferware ironstone dinner plate by Royal Tudor Ware, England in the Coaching Taverns pattern made 1950-1960s. The plate measures 10 inches in diameter and features a coach arriving to a tavern with a pretty floral border. The plate is in very good +++ condition with no chips, cracks and very little signs of use. A very decorative pattern for dining table or wall.  This is a dark grey transferware or transfer dinner plate made by Crown Ducal, England in the Bristol pattern, which is also known as Asiatic Pheasants. The ironstone plate was made in the 1930s and is an unusual color. The plate is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks, and some utensil marks. A lovely and very decorative plate.  Antique Staffordshire transferware tray. c:1891-1902. For olives/relish/celery? Incised mark: Edge Malkin & Co., and brown backstamp: England, Trade mark, E. M. & Co., over B, Summertime, Rd. No. 232991. No chips or cracks but has some discoloration as expected. It is 8.25 long x 4.75 wide.  brncs9/09  Early 20th century Historical Staffordshire plate commemorating Commodore Paul Jones capturing the Serapis Sept 23rd 1779. Fruit and flower border. Back mark - R & M Co. For Rowland & Marsellus who were importers, wholesalers and retailers, especially of souvenir wares operating out of New York c.1893 -1938. They dealt with numerous Stoke-on-Trent pottery manufacturers and then sold the wares to other distributors in the US. In good condition light ware and a couple of not noticeable small black spots on the front.

BLUE & WHITE COMMODORE PAUL JONES CAPTUR $45.00

This item is a lovely English Porcelain Brown Transferware Lidded Soup Tureen and Ladle made by T. Elsmore and Son, Tunstall, England.  The English Registry Mark on the bottom of the Tureen dates these pieces to having been made on May 14, 1878.  The Tureen is about 11 inches across from handle to handle and almost 9 inches high to the top of the Lid.  The matching Ladle is about 12 and 1/2 inches long and 4 inches across at the bowl of the ladle.  All three pieces, the Tureen, the Cover and the Ladle, are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and only very slight crazing.  This item is a lovely English Porcelain Brown Transferware Platter made by Elsmore and Son, Tunstall, England.  The English Registry mark on the bottom of this Platter dates it to having been made on May 14, 1878.  This large oval Platter is about 15 inches long and 11 inches across.  It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and only light crazing.  The Platter does have 2 very small rough spots on the bottom rim.  These rough spots are not chips and appear to be rough spots in the glaze.  They are not visible from the top of the Platter and do not adversely affect the integrity or beauty of this Platter.  Please note the photo with the ribbon which marks the 2 rough spots.  For sale is a hard to find fairly complete red transferware child's tea set made by Charles Allerton & Sons a Staffordshire potter in England.  The pattern of the set is Stag and dates to the 1880's.  The list of the set is as follows:  1) TEAPOT - Approximately 4 1/2 inches high, not marked on bottom, end of spout has had some repair could be done better, some slight chipping to rim of teapot, crazing to glaze; 2)  COVERED SUGAR - Approximately 4 inches tall, not marked on bottom, lid has 2 minor chips on the inside (part that sticks inside sugar bowl) cannot see when lid is on, there is some minor chipping to the rim of the sugar bowl, crazing to glaze;  3)  CREAMER - Approximately 2 1/2 inches tall, not marked on bottom, there is some discoloration at the bottom of the creamer highlighted by crazing not cracks, bottom is perfect, crazing to glaze;  4)  SLOP BOWL - Approximately 2 1/2 inches tall, not marked on bottom, excellent condition, crazing to glaze;  5)  6 PLATES - Approximately 5 1/2 inches wide, all are marked on bottom 4 with Stag 750, 2 with May 753, all are identical, each plate is in excellent condition, crazing to glaze;  6)  5 SAUCERS - Approximately 4 3/4 inches wide, saucers have no indented circle for cup as in modern sets, each saucer is marked on bottom Stag 750, each saucer is in excellent condition, crazing to the glaze;  7)  6 CUPS - Approximately 2 1/8 inches tall, none of the cups are marked on the bottom, all are in excellent condition, crazing to the glaze.  This is a very nice set that one seldom sees with as many pieces as offered.  This set is antique and is not finished(manufactured) as perfectly as newer sets but has much character that newer sets do not have.  Shipping with insurance will be $25.00 in the Continental USA.      Marked Castle J.T., which is probably either J.Tams and Sons of Longton c.1875+ or J.Twigg, Kilnhurst, Yorkshire c.1822-81). Dark brown or black English transferware pattern of a scenic castle ruins. 8 1/4 in. diameter. Has some staining but not too bad, no cracks or crazing, has a glaze chip on the edge underside-not visible from the front. Has a bit of old tape residue that I couldn't safely remove on the back. Priced according to condition. A lovely addition to any transferware collection!

Vintage Masons Brown Transferware Pitcher in excellent condition, no chip, cracks or repairs. Measures 6 inches tall. Made in    Vista, England  This is an antique Staffordshire England Oriental Poychrome cup saucer or tea bowl made from 1800-1820. The oriental design is polychrome hand painted enamel paint over pink or red transfer. The deep saucer or tea bowl is 1.25 inches high by 5.65 in diameter with no maker's marks except the script number 153 on the saucer which is normal. The cup saucer is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few mineral impurities or kiln dust present which is normal for this early era. A beautiful example of Oriental Polychrome from Staffordshire.  English Abbey-red transferware plate made by Taylor & Smith, raised little bows around plate, measures 10 inches  Scalloped edge.  There is some light brown staining on back.  This dark blue transferware or transfer ware platter was made 1892-1905 by J.H. Weatherby and Sons, Hanley, Staffordshire England in the pattern called Trentham. The serving platter measures 11 inch by 8 inch and is marked semi porcelain. The platter is molded and has a gilt rim. The platter is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks, but there are a couple of manufacturing flaws due to impurities in the clay--frequently seen in this era.
