This large flying shuttle is used for yarn. It is all natural finished hard wood. Measures 20.5 inches long with brass tips. Marked Dominion Shuttle Co. Right 13. Price reduced from $65  Offering this hand made make do pin cushion, fashioned after the pin cushions of long ago when ladies would use broken candle sticks as the base for a pin cushion. This one is only 2 years old but is very unique - a one of a kind. The base is a glass candlestick with an antiqued crackle paint. The pin cushion is heart shaped vintage tapestry fabric with vintage trimmings around the bottom where it attaches to the base. On one side is a wonderful hand stitch embroidered face - a perfect folk art piece! Measures 10 inches tall x 5 1/2 inches wide. Like new condition, never used. She is a real beauty for your collection!  Indonesian Ramayana Wayan Golek hand carved and artist signed puppet head of King Ravana circa 1900. Weighty wooden mannequin like head, with demon like stare. This rare boldly fashioned primitive stands about fourteen inches tall, with massive presence.

Incredible museum display quality, with exciting hand painted details. Blues reds and warm golden hues mix like friendly adversaries, with the sweet patina of aged wood. Deep carving of high style is seen in the eyes, beard, mustache and ears. Fierce dragons serve as crown epaulettes flanking the sides of Ravana’s head.

Now let me tell you the story…

The Ramayana, a classic epic lesson from ancient India was first written about 500 B.C.E. by a poet named Valmiki. The evil King Ravana, whose head you are considering kidnapped the Hero Rama’s virtuous wife Sita a.k.a. Shinta, a real prize I might add. He ran away with there to his kingdom in Sri Lanka. Lord Rama, a.k.a. The Prince Of Ayutthaya was quite the South Asian Prodigal Son. He left home early, as his Brahma Mom and Dad, Visrawasa and Kaikasi felt he was not exactly ready for power. During his exile, temporary spousal separation and final reuniting he became a majestic leader. Making alliances with his brother Vibhishana and Hanuman the monkey General King.

The Ramayana or story of Rama is also known in Thailand as the Ramakien. There Ravana was called Tosakanth. This gospel spread through out South Asia into the western Pacific Rim. The main players, each with their own devotees have distinctly recognizable attributes, any one from the region would recognize. Ravana, with his dark beard and mustashe and his dragon laden countenance, are in particular, a big hit when played by the dalang or puppet master. Ravana signified scholarly wisdom, and could play the Vienna a musical instrument. Only if he used his wit for niceness instead of evil as Maxwell Smart agent 86 would say.

Wayan Golek or Javanes Opera is a traditional performance art in Bali, Java and several other regions of the Malay Peninsula. To celebrate the Ramayana at festivals weddings and circumcisions, these ancient heroes were made by artisans with unusual skill. Pride was especially evident, as this piece is boldly carved and signed DILUKISOLEHMANDA, which VERY loosely translated from the language of Indonesia, Bahasa means, This was created by M. It is unlikely the tribal or primitive art collector will find a rarity of this magnitude.

God Bless Spell Check!

Price is for the pair.   Here is that hard to find 6 gallon butter churn with a lid and stomper. The only marking on this churn is the number “6” and a couple bands. The condition is very good. No cracks or repairs but there are a couple chips on the elephant ear handles on one at the base as well as a couple glaze pops along the middle. I’ve tried to show all of the flaws in the photos. I’m not sure if the lid & stomper is original but it looks good. Due to the size this item will be shipped using Pack n Ship, you pay actual cost to your location. I’m not sure if this is Minnesota Stoneware, Red Wing, North Star Stoneware, Union Stoneware or Western but it is nice!

This brass sconce is approx. 9 x 11 in. In very good condition. Most defects are just tarnish. No real dents that I can see.  Here is an unusual tramp art cross that was made from carved interlocking pieces of wood. It stands about 16½” tall and 8½” across at the widest points. The overall condition is excellent, I can find only one piece that has a small bite off the tip and slat on the backside that has a slight crack. This is an excellent example of vintage Hobo or Tramp Art that is getting harder to find all the time; don’t miss out on this piece.

Some of the stain/vanish used to darken the trim pieces has chipped off, but most is still intact. This nice Victorian piece dates from the 1880's. Spring loaded, when glove gets wet, stretch tool is inserted into finger holes, glove would then air dry and into shape. This bottle is in excellent condition and beyond scarce. <I>Glass and Pottery; Milk Bottle; Glassware; Collectibles;</I>  This shoe mold is approx. 6 in. long. Small piece broken off the back side, otherwise is excellent condition.  This extraordinary bell was purchased from a museum in Gananoque, Ontario, Canada which closed in 1988 and sold many of its exhibits. There are no markings to identify its origin, but the superb craftsmanship is evident. We expended considerable effort to learn more about this bell and there has been much debate about its origin and purpose, but this much is known: (1) Based on the wood, the hardware, the forging method, and the consensus of three reputable local bell collectors (all of whom disagree with one another), the bell dates from between 1835 and 1860, possibly older, and (2) it is either an early funeral bell of English origin for high-ranking official use, or a domestic bell used by a French-Canadian Town Crier (unlike the English criers who traditionally used a smaller bell with a pole handle raised overhead, the French criers sometimes carried their bell at the side, and it rang as they walked). The bell is 10-1/4 inches high by 6-7/8 inches in diameter and weighs 7-1/2 pounds. The bronze has a beautiful patina with original hammer marks evident. The heavy iron striker is hand-forged and is 5-1/4 inches long. The hardwood handle is 4-7/8 inches wide. In original condition, shows some minor scratches and wear, but is in perfect working order with no cracks, rings clear and true. An unusual museum-quality piece with a mysterious heritage. <I>Primitives and Antiquities; Bells; Canada; Ontario; Museum; Bronze; Town Crier;</I>

This old churn is in outstanding condition. Its exact age is unknown but we believe it to date from 1900 to 1925 (don't confuse this with the "Gem Dandy" churn which came much later). Cast iron gear drive, wood paddle (replaced at some point in the past), with hardwood handle. The drive mechanism is fastened to a heavy cover that screws onto the glass jar (see photo). Very functional, overall height 14-3/4 inches, glass jar is 9-3/4 inches high by 5-3/4 inches square, weighs 5 lbs. Clean, undamaged, in excellent working order. <I>Primitives and Antiquities; Butter Churns; Farm Equipment; Early American; Kitchen;</I>  Used mainly by physicians and pharmacies but also by more well-to-do citizens, this old unit is beautiful but not complete. The uppermost tray that normally holds the vaporizer is missing. In addition, the glass cover of the alchol burner was cracked from excessive heat exposure at some point in the distant past. However, it is still intact and can easily be glued if necessary. The finish is very nice and it makes a gorgeous display piece. A great gift for a medical student or Victorian collector, this unit is 6-1/4 inches tall and weighs 1/2 lb.
