This is a nice small antique pocket size book or pamphlet titled, "The Gospel of St. John". This soft cover book contains 64 pages. There are no illustrations, but the text is bold and easy to read. This book was published by The American Bible Society, New York. The outside cover of this book has a couple very tiny stains, but otherwise this book is in excellent original condition. The binding is tight and there are no torn, missing, or stained pages. Also, this book has no creases or writing in its pages. This book does not have a copyright date, however I would date it to approximately Circa 1920’s.  This is a wonderful inspiring antique aluminum standing picture plaque. This shapely piece is molded in the style of an arch and features the beautiful Virgin Mary with a lovely prayer. The prayer reads, "O Mary Conceived Without Sin Pray For Us Who Have Recourse To Thee". The bottom left corner has the manufacturer’s initials, "E.S.M." and reads, "Made in Italy". This decoratively embossed picture plaque has lovely details throughout and is in excellent original condition. This piece has a nice original cardboard back with fold out stand for tabletop display. The backing and stand are also in excellent original condition. Circa 1940’s.  This is a very special, inspirational, and unique vintage book titled, "The Twenty-Third Psalm - An Interpretation" by author, Charles L. Allen. This book was published by Fleming H. Revell Company, Westwood, New Jersey, copyright 1961. The illustrations are by Ismar David. This book contains 62 pages. The print is large, bold, and easy to read. This hardcover book has as green cloth binding with lovely gold foil decorating both front and back. The front cover is lightly embossed with a picture of The Shepherd Jesus with six sheep. The outer cloth spine and front cover has minor shelf wear. The inside pages are all in excellent original condition. There are no stains or tears, no dog-ears or creases, and no foxing or discoloration to the pages. This book is simply fascinating because it breaks down each verse of the Shepherd Psalm, interpreting it for the modern reader. The author of this book explains that "the power of this Psalm lies in the fact that it represents a positive, hopeful, faith-approach to life. But it’s power is not in memorizing the words, but rather in thinking the thoughts. The Twenty-third Psalm is a pattern of thinking, and when a mind becomes saturated with it, a new way of thinking and a new life are the result." This is a must have book for anyone seeking inspiration! Circa 1961.  This is a lovely antique wooden crucifix. It’s small in size and has a decorative pedestal stand for optional tabletop display. This crucifix has lovely details and a nice original natural finish. This piece is in excellent original condition. Circa 1920’s.

This is a very attractive small antique Victorian painting featuring a gorgeous portrait of the Young Virgin Mary in a beautiful and complimentary mosaic frame. This picture was painted on a thin sheet of celluloid. Although not titled, this picture is famously known as, "The Adoring Virgin". In the foreground are mountains, village, and river. This painting has fine delicate details throughout. Mary’s precious face and fancy veil-type hairpiece give this picture a refreshing and youthful appearance. This painting is in excellent original condition. The mosaic frame is round in shape with a circular decorative pattern of small and very colorful mosaic stones. The frame is original to this painting and is in excellent original condition. There are no missing stones. Original glass and original brass backing and stand with feet for table top display. The glass has a very tiny flake on the edge. Circa 1910.  This is a large and lovely antique tabletop wood and metal standing crucifix. It is heavy and substantial. The wood and metal retain their original finish. This crucifix is in excellent original condition with a nice old patina. Circa 1920’s.  This is a beautiful, shapely, and highly decorated antique porcelain hand-painted statue figurine of Young Jesus known as ‘The Infant of Prague’ by Lefton China. The designs are elaborate and the colors are bright with very nice facial details. This lovely statue has wonderful gold highlights throughout. This piece is in excellent original condition. It has no chips, cracks, stains, or repairs. The bottom is stamped with a crown and the words, "Lefton China; Hand-Painted; Infant of Prague; 718LA". Circa 1940’s.  This is a large and rare Enthronement & Consecration Family Certificate antique Victorian religious House Blessing Pledge print. This certificate offers the rare opportunity to personalize this piece by filling in your own family name and date at the bottom of the print. The top half of the print features a beautiful scene of the Holy Family. I’ve included some interesting information about this print and the ceremony and enthronement pledge below. This is a wonderful antique Victorian piece. The print has some age-appropriate dots here and there, mostly at the bottom. There isn’t any spotting on Mary, Joseph, or Jesus. The original wood frame is decorated with applied gesso and retains the original gold finish. The frame is in excellent original condition. This piece has a nice original wood backing, original glass, and old wire hanger. Circa 1880’s.

***The Purpose of This Enthronement & Family Consecration Certificate and the Ceremony & Enthronement Pledge that Precedes It:

Our families gain enormous additional graces and blessings at this, the time we need them most, if the installation of His image is accompanied by a formal ceremony, (called enthronement, as a King is installed on a Throne) and by a Consecration of the Family to the love of His Sacred Heart.

These two acts together will:

*stabilize the family,

*sanctify the family,

*create a Catholic atmosphere and spirit of piety in the home,

*bring back the wayward members, and

*help console the members in times of trial and sorrow.

Thus, it makes the home thoroughly Christian. It brings the Devotion into the home where it is most needed and can be most effective. Plan on DOING it for your family's sake!

The last step of the ceremony consists of all family members signing the Enthronement Pledge (certificate), first, the father, then the mother, and then the children. It is to be framed and hung near the Enthronement shrine.

The parents now give the children the parental blessing. The children kneel before the parents. First the father, then the mother, make the Sign of the Cross on the forehead of each child saying: "I bless you, my child, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." The child answers: "Amen."

The Act of Consecration should be repeated often throughout the year.

This is a large, rare, and unique antique Victorian piece featuring eight illustrated embossed prints composed of the "Lord’s Prayer". It is divided into 8 sections. Each print includes a partial passage of the Lord’s Prayer and is very colorful and detailed. Gold shimmery highlights trim each print. The scenes correspond beautifully to the words. The prayer is contained in this unique textured matting and decoratively framed in a very complimentary wooden frame. The frame is highlighted with a fancy metal saw tooth inlay. The print and matting are in excellent original condition. The frame is also in excellent original condition, except for a few very tiny pieces of inlay that are missing in the corners of the frame. This print retains the original glass and old wire hanger and paper backing. Circa 1900.  This is an large wonderful antique religious sepia print. This scene depicts the famous Last Supper by the well-known listed Italian artist, Leonardo DiVinci.. The scene is compelling, their faces are very expressive, and the print is crisp and clear. This print is in excellent original condition. The wood frame is mahogany in color and retains the original finish. The frame is also in excellent original condition. Attached and taped to the back of the print is a nice note from the previous owner on the history of this particular piece. This large and beautiful print hung in the Second Baptist Church in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1890. The note reads, "Purchased the Second Baptist Church in Holyoke, Mass. 4/20/85 known to have been in the church in 1890 by a man whose mother was married in the church in 1890". This piece retains the original glass and old wire hanger. Missing paper backing. Circa 1890.  This is a charming vintage Wedding Souvenir book titled, "The Marriage Ceremony". This is a soft cover pamphlet containing 40 pages, copyright 1947, published by "Le Droit" Printing, Ottawa, Canada. This pamphlet contains the full instructions for conducting a traditional wedding vow ceremony by a Priest for a Roman Catholic wedding. It appears that the Catholic Centre of the University of Ottawa had this book published, as their name is stamped on the front cover and first page. The decorative pen-drawing that is printed on the cover symbolizes the sacred contract that binds a Christian husband with his Christian spouse. The two entwined circles mark the unity, the constancy, and the indissolubility of marriage. The cross seen at the intersection of the rings indicates the sanctifying influence of the Religion of Christ. The second page of this pamphlet is ready to be filled in and personalized as a "Souvenir of Our Wedding". The Bride, Groom, Priest, and Witnesses would sign their names below, along with the Church’s name and date of vows exchanged. The rest of the pages consist of Catholic rituals, psalms, the exchanging of wedding vows, prayers, blessings, and many silent instructions in between. This entire pamphlet is in excellent original condition. Circa 1947.  This is an interesting and unique antique religious table top plaque. This plaque features a decorative brass medallion with a side portrait of Jesus. The medallion is affixed to a beautiful piece of onyx which is affixed to a nice brass backing with a decorative kick stand for tabletop display. The religious brass medallion is beautifully embossed with fine details throughout. The onyx is sculpted in a nice arch shape with a smooth beveled edge. The multiple shades of color running together in the onyx gives this piece a unique appearance. The religious brass medallion and brass backing are original and in excellent condition with a beautiful old patina. The piece of onyx is also in excellent original condition with no flakes, chips, stains, or discoloration. The backing’s decorative retractable stand is also original to the piece and in excellent condition. The plaque is heavy and substantial. Circa 1910.

This is a very attractive and pleasing antique inspirational print famously known as "Our Mother of Perpetual Help". This bright and colorful scene features the Blessed Virgin Mary holding Baby Jesus in her arms. Archangels Michael and Gabriel are hovering above. The gold metallic background illuminates the brilliant colors and elaborate details throughout the print. It has been documented and said that the picture of ‘Our Mother of Perpetual Help’ is linked to many amazing miracles! The original gold trim matting nicely frames the print. The matting is an off-white color with a very fine triple pencil line gold inner border. Original gold-painted molded wood frame. The frame is very complimentary to the gold metallic print and has a pretty decorative pattern to its molding. Original glass, paper backing, and wire hanger. The print and matting are both in excellent original condition, except for a few tiny specks of dirt particles on the matting or under the glass. The frame is in great original condition, except for some light wear to the finish and a small sliver of outer molding that has broken off in the upper right side of frame. Circa 1920’s.  This is a very special, unique, and hard to find antique bronze plaque. It features a side portrait of Jesus Christ wearing the infamous Crown of Thorns on His head. The plaque is deeply embossed and is heavy and substantial. A bright, cheerful, thorny bouquet of long-stemmed red roses decorate the top half of the print. Gold lettering and original gold-painted molded wood frame. Original glass, paper backing, and wire hanger. Circa 1920’s.  This is a lovely and very attractive antique religious print. The prayer is titled, "Our Lady’s Blessing". The lettering is very fancy, bold, and with Old English text. A beautiful and colorful vine of pink floral roses shapely frames the prayer. This gold painted molded wood frame is original to the print and has a decorative complimentary pattern of charming little flowers. This is a very special, inspirational, and endearing antique print of the Holy Family in prayer. This is a rare and hard to find scene. It’s very appealing and uplifting with strong emotion. All three halos around the Holy Family are highlighted with a light gold shimmer. The scene’s landscape background is delightful. A flowering dogwood tree frames the top half of the picture and white lilies trim the bottom. The publisher’s initials, ‘NB’ are within a diamond-shaped symbol in the bottom left corner of the print. The initials N.B. actually stands for N.G. Basevi. This print is in excellent original condition. Nice original gold-painted decorative molded wood frame. The frame is also in excellent original condition. Original glass and original paper backing. New metal hanger. Circa 1920’s.  This is a wonderful, rare, and unique antique religious book titled, "The Bible And It’s Story". This book includes 1,000 picture lessons with beautiful large full page illustrations. The book’s publisher’s name and place of publication is Francis R. Niglutsch; 29 & 31 East 22nd Street (near Broadway), New York and the editor, Professor Charles F. Horne, M.S., Ph.D. with the assistance of Reverend & Professor Julius A. Bewer, Ph.D.. Copyright 1910. What’s most unusual about this book is that the actual cover page of the book, as well as the publication page and the content’s page is located in the center of the book’s pages! The page numbers throughout this book almost seem random and scattered, although I’m sure there is some logical order to this. Apparently, and judging by the ‘covers’ page, this book was sold by subscription only for the price of 25 cents in 1910. According to the book’s text and my own personal research, this book appears to be 1 of 9 single volume issues of a collection. I think this may be issue/volume 1, but I can‘t guarantee it to be. The cover protecting this book is a soft black slightly worn cloth. There are no words, pictures, symbols, or colors anywhere on the cover, which is very unusual. The cover certainly appears to be original to this book, but has some slight age wear to the inside and outside cover pages. The page binding is nice and tight but the cloth cover which was originally glued to the binding is coming a little loose. All of the pages are in great condition, except for a few very small discolorations here and there, but nothing that really stands out in my opinion.. There is however, one printing error that is original and in the making of this book…One page with text (found toward the center of the book) must have been misaligned when originally printed and therefore is a little difficult to partially read. There are no tears, missing, or loose pages and no writing or inscriptions in this book. Each illustration is in excellent original condition. Some pictures are sepia-tone while others are printed from black and white engravings. Every picture has great detail and was printed on a special high quality gloss paper. Each illustration is separated and protected by a thin sheet of acid-free tissue paper. Interestingly, the tissue paper is not blank and includes the text that makes up most of this book! Because this type of paper is so thin, the text was only printed on one side. Again, this is a very rare, interesting, and most unique book. Circa 1910.  This is a very attractive antique religious ceramic wall hanging crucifix. It’s large in size and has a shapely design. A decorative, gold, hand-painted scroll pattern frames the entire crucifix. The top of the crucifix has a pretty star with gold trim. The backing is inscribed with the artist/maker’s name. It’s written fancy so it’s a little difficult to read clearly (see photo). This beautiful crucifix is in excellent original condition with a nice glazed smooth finish. Original wire hanger. Circa 1940’s.  This is a lovely little pocket size antique religious prayer book titled, "The Book of Common Prayer…And Administration of the Sacraments and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church…According to the use of The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America…Together with The Psalter or Psalms of David". This book has 582 pages in all. The publisher is Oxford / Henry Frowde, Printed at the University Press; 91 & 93 Fifth Avenue; New York.

There are so many wonderful and unusual prayers and teachings throughout this book for example: a prayer for those at sea, a prayer to be used in families, the Communion of the sick, Ministration of public and private Baptisms, a form of prayer for the visitation of prisoners, the Thanksgiving of women after Child-birth, the instructions that are to be learned before being Confirmed, the order for daily morning and evening prayer, the form of Solemnization of Matrimony, and even an Order for the burial of the dead! Each section of this book gets broken down into even more prayers and psalms. A few examples include a prayer to the President of the United States, a prayer for a sick child, a prayer for persons troubled in mind or in conscience, and prayers to be used by all ships in storms at sea.

The black cloth cover has a lightly embossed cross in the center. This hardcover prayer book is in good condition, but shows some signs of age-appropriate wear to the cover. The back of the hard cover has been torn and is missing a small corner of the book’s cover in the bottom left (see photo). The pages of this book are in excellent condition. There are no missing pages and there are NO tears, stains, writing, discoloration, or creases on any page. The binding is secure and in good condition. This book has a copyright of January 1, 1898.

Please Take 50% Off The Featured Price. This is an handsome and very decorative Crucifix made by the end of the 19th century consisting of a brass cross and mounted by cast spelter Jesus. Note a few minor scratches here and there. Circa date 1880. Dimensions: 23 3/8"(height) x 11 ½"(wide)  This is a very special and rare antique Holy Bible antique book. This Bible is most unique, for it not only has the New and Old Testaments, but it features "Order of Rainbow for Girls: The History and Purpose of Rainbow, also Scriptural Quotations and Allusions in the Rainbow Ritual". The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a branch off of the freemasonry order. Rainbow is a non-profit, service-oriented organization that teaches young girls three basic virtues: Faith in a Supreme Being and other people, having Hope in all that they do, and Charity toward others. The seven colors of the Rainbow are used to represent seven teachings that each member receives on her journey toward the pot of gold.

The manufacturer of this book is A.J. Holman Company., Philadelphia, PA., copyright 1929. The front of the book is signed in script by the original gift giver. It reads, "12/12/38 To Kitty, A typical Rainbow Girl, with a sincere wish that she may find the Pot of Gold thru the teachings of the pages and our beloved Ritual. Emma L. Brymer, P.M.D.". There is also a presentation page in the front of the book that is also signed by the same person along with her assembly number of that particular order (Emma L. Brymer, Mother Advisor Faith Assembly #26) the name of the rainbow girl (Kitty Ms. Evan), city and state (Bayonne, NJ), and date (January 1936 - January 1938). The first section of the book (14 pages) is Order of the Rainbow. The Mother Advisor is the primary adult who works with the girls. The text in this ‘Rainbow Bible’ teaches the young reader about the Rainbow Ritual which is grouped around the color stations and answers questions such as ‘Why Rainbow’; ‘History and Purpose of Rainbow’; ‘The Rainbow Promise’; ‘The Youth Movement’; ‘Familiar Quotes’; ‘The Open Bible’ ; ‘Rainbow’s Birthday’; ‘The Church Life’; and ‘From the Memorial Service’. I personally love the section titled, ‘The Open Bible’. I’ll read you a quick paragraph: "Each Rainbow girl should open her Bible at the 9th Chapter of Genesis every night before she retires and leave it lying open in her room all night as a symbol of the thought that she is asking that its ‘White Light shall penetrate her heart’ and that God shall watch over her while she sleeps. She should close the Bible as soon as she rises." The book’s page numbers restart at page 1 again at the next section after The Order of Rainbow and goes on to the Old and New Testaments. This book has 916 pages, not including the 14 pages of Order of Rainbow. Also, the last 6 pages of this book feature colorful print engravings of geographical land maps. The maps are titled as follows, ‘Lands and Route of the Exodus’ ; ‘Jerusalem and Highland Surroundings with Altitudes’ ; ‘Kingdoms of Judah & Israel’ ; ‘St Paul’s Missionary Journeys’ ; ‘Lands of the Hebrew Captivities" ; and "Divisions of Palestine in Christ’s Time".

This book is in excellent original condition inside and out. This is a hardcover book. The cover is a textured white leather. The front cover and spine have gold lettering for the title and symbol of the rainbow. Within the rainbow’s symbol on the front cover are the initials ‘BFCL’ with the letter ‘R’ in the center. There is gold gilt edging to each page. The entire hardcover is in excellent condition. The binding is tight and strong. There are no missing pages to this book. The pages have NO tears, creases, writing or doodling (other than mentioned above, by the gift giver), no stains or discoloration, no browning or yellowing to the pages, and no strange odors. Copyright 1929.

* I’ve included some very interesting information about the HISTORY & DETAILS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ORDER OF THE RAINBOW FOR GIRLS:

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls was founded in 1922, by William Mark Sexson, a Christian minister and active member of the Masonic Lodge. The Rev. Sexson spent his life dedicated to both fraternal organizations, and his ministry. He saw the need for an organization for young women who were from a Masonic background. Today, membership is open to any girl regardless of Masonic affiliation. Rainbow helps prepare today's young women to be tomorrow's leaders. Former Rainbow girls include Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Conner; astronaut Dorothy "Dottie" Metcalf-Lindenburger; actresses Lee Merriwether, Ruth Buzzi, and Dawn Wells; Bobbie Shunk Gaunt, first woman president and CEO of Ford Motor Co. of Canada; State Senator Carol Hudkins; and US Senator Olympia J. Snowe, just to name a few.

Rainbow is a non-profit, character building, service oriented organization. The main goal is to help its members become more than they dreamed possible. Involvement in Rainbow teaches girls three basic virtues: to have faith in a Supreme Being, other people and themselves; to have hope in all that they do; and to be charitable, to live a life of service is the most rewarding life of all.

* Further information pertaining to the Order of the Rainbow Girls:

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) is a Masonic youth service organization which teaches leadership training through community service. Girls (ages 11–20/21) learn about the value of charity and service through their work and involvement with their annual local and Grand (state or country) service projects.

The Mother Advisor is the primary adult working with the girls. An Advisory Board of seven to fifteen adults consisting of at least two Master Masons and two members of the Order of the Eastern Star, members of the sponsoring body(ies), and Majority Members, aid in the supervision of the Assembly. Almost all of the Assembly work is done by the girls, with the advisors in support roles only.

- This was cited from the following website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Order_of_the_Rainbow_for_Girls  This is a really nice and rare antique religious print featuring Saint John the Baptist portrayed as a young boy. The scene is very angelic and inspiring. The real title to this picture is ‘St. John’. This picture was originally painted by the famous listed artist, Charles Bosseron Chambers. This sepia print highlights the colors of Saint John’s face, creating a very pleasing and attractive appearance. The artist portrayed St. John in such a charming innocent way with adorable angelic features such as his curly brown locks, his cute chubby fingers clasping a crucifix to his heart, his blushing rosy cheeks, and his open mouth. The print is in excellent original condition. Original gold-painted molded wood frame. The frame is very shapely (in the style of an Italianate arch or mantle) with lovely texture and nice decorative molded corners. The frame is also in excellent original condition. Original glass, original paper backing with manufacturer’s label, and nice original round metal hanger. The manufacturer’s name is "L.M. Castner Company Inc.; Williamsport, PA.". Although I don’t know why, the bottom of the paper backing is stamped with the symbol NRA (The National Rifle Association). The stamp displays a picture of an Eagle with the words, "NRA Member; U.S.; We Do Our Part". Overall, this is a truly wonderful and hard to find piece! Circa 1920’s.  This is a compelling and colorful antique print featuring the famous scene of Jesus at 12 years old in the Temple with the Doctors and Priests. This picture was originally painted in 1882 by the famous listed artist, Heinrich Hofmann (1824-1911). This picture is one of 4 of Heinrich’s most famous works of art. The print is colorful and has lovely crisp details throughout. This fascinating print portrays the Young Jesus as a sweet, intelligent, and very handsome young man doing His Father’s work (Father meaning God). The decorative wood and gesso frame is original to the print. The frame has a fancy crest with a large shell design, flanked by delicate red roses and greenery. The frame retains its original gold finish. This piece has the nice original dark colored cardboard backing, old ribbon hanger, and old glass. The glass has a few fine scratches (see photos). The print and frame are both in excellent original condition. Circa 1920’s.

Note that we can have the extra piece of marble cut if requested; there is a charge of $55 for this service. This item is matching the item #149145NM595, a price can be negotiated for the couple. Circa date 1870. Dimensions: 16 ½"(height) x 21 ½"(wide)  This is a very special and rare Masonry Bible, copyright 1940. This vintage hardcover book seems to go by a few different titles, "The Bible and King Solomon’s Temple in Masonry by John Wesley Kelchner", "The Holy Bible, The Great Light in Masonry Containing the Old and New Testaments", "The Bible in Masonry", The Holy Bible Holman Edition Containing the Old and New Testaments", and "The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ". In some Masonic Jurisdictions it has become the custom to present a new Mason with a Masonic Bible at his raising to the sublime degree of Master Mason. This Masonic (Temple Illustrated) Bible includes the first authentic pictures of King Solomon’s Temple and Citadel, a complete series of 19 illustrations. The publisher of this book is A.J. Holman Company; Philadelphia, P.A.". The page numbers in this Bible don’t follow the norm of 1 through 800 for example. With many divided sections in this book, the page numbers keep starting over again. However, after adding up all pages, this book contains a total of approximately 1,150 pages: 54 pages of Masonic Text not including illustrated pages of King Solomon’s Temple; 827 pages of the Old Testament; 255 pages of the New Testament; and 14 pages in the back of the book titled, "New Practical Course in Bible Reading". The pages have gold gilt edges all the way around and were printed on fine quality paper that supposedly never yellows. This Masonic Bible includes the Poetic King James Version as the text. The faux leather blue hardcover binding has gold lettering on the spine and an imprint of the Masonic Symbol on the front cover. The measurement tools on the cover represent Masonry symbols and the letter ‘G’ stands for God. This book is in very good condition with some age-appropriate wear to the outside cover. The pages are in excellent condition, except for the first few at the very beginning of the book which have staining. The last page of the book which is blank is partially missing. (Apparently it was an afternoon snack for a moth or bug). The front and back cover is beginning to pull away from the spine of the book, but is still intact and can be repaired (see photo). There are no creases or writing in this book. However, there is only one page at the very beginning (an ornate presentation page) in which the gift giver (a Mason) signed his and the receiver’s name ‘Brother David Norman Young’. Also signed is the date of mason’s initiation ‘January 23rd 1941’, as well as the signature of the Master, Senior Warden, and Secretary. The next couple pages are registration pages for visiting brothers and friends to sign, as well as signatures for fellow candidates and for the mason himself to sign. These pages are not written in. This is a fascinating Masonry Bible and a wonderful piece of Masonic history! Circa 1940.  This is a charming and inspiring antique religious miniature print. It features a lovely short prayer written by the poet, Sarum Primer (1558). The text is fancy, yet easy to read. A nice gold decorative border frames the words of the blessing. Nice original gold-painted molded wood frame. The frame is in excellent original condition with an attractive and decorative tulip-shaped pattern. The print has a couple minor light stains on the right side with a little wave to the picture, but this does not detract from the beauty of this piece. Nice original paper backing, original glass, and old metal hanger. Circa 1920’s.  This is a very rare, unique, and ornate antique religious hand-painted House Blessing. The hand-done text is very fancy and ornate and the hand-painted flowers are just daring! The decorative letters are still easy to read. Beautiful bouquets of delicate violets and lush greenery frame the blessing. The artist (which is unknown) added many enchanting details along with two cute bumble bees and some pretty red ribbons. These details add a whimsical touch to this inspiring house blessing. The colors of this painting are so beautiful! The background in which this picture was painted on is most unusual. It appears to be eisenglass, a thin type of material made of the mineral, mica (more specifically muscovite). It's transparent, flexible, and has the general appearance of plastic. The background material has various texture and a lovely sheen to it which shines like mother of pearl. The molded wood frame retains the original textured gold finish. The frame is in excellent original condition. Original glass, original backing, and newer wire hanger. Missing paper backing. The painting is also in excellent original condition, except for what I believe to be two very, very small pieces of the paper backing that must have slipped under the glass and can be seen at the very bottom center of the picture (see photo). This is an attractive antique religious famous sepia print featuring a portrait of Jesus Christ at 12 Years Old. This picture is a detail from the original full-size painting titled, 'Christ in the Temple with the Doctors', originally painted by famous artist, Heinrich Hofmann.. There’s a wonderful story behind this scene as well (read below). The details of Jesus’ face, shirt, and hair are beautifully highlighted with touches of rose color. His face comes alive with his rosy cheeks and peachy lips. Rays of light form a halo around his full head of dark wavy hair. The frame is oak and is original to the print. The frame retains the its nice original dark natural finish. Old original glass, nice original cardboard backing, and old wire hanger. Both the print and frame are in excellent original condition. Circa 1920’s.

*** I’ve included some fascinating information about THE HISTORY OF THIS SCENE:

"The Feast of Passover. - In those days there used to be a great feast in the Temple at Jerusalem every year, and people from all parts of the country used to go to Jerusalem for this feast. Joseph and Mary used to go, too, every year. The Child Jesus was a lovely Boy, and was growing strong and tall and more lovely every year. When He was twelve years old Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem for one of these feasts, and a great number of their friends and relations went too, and they all stayed there some days. On their way home again they missed Jesus. Mary thought He was with Joseph, and Joseph that He was with Mary. When they found it was not so, they said: "Oh, He is with our relations;" but when they asked their friends they said: "No - we have not seen Him." So Mary and Joseph went back to Jerusalem and looked about for Him for three days. At last they went into the Temple, and there they found Jesus sitting down with a number of priests and learned people about Him, and he was asking them questions and answering theirs in a wise and clever way - so wise that all these learned men were surprised. When Mary saw Him, she said to Him: "Son, why hast Thou done so to us? Thy father and I have sought Thee with sorrow." Then Jesus answered and said to them: "How is it that you sought Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s work?" Mary and Joseph could not tell why He spoke thus to them, but Mary kept all these words in her heart to think over them. Then Jesus went back with them to Nazareth, and was subject to them - that is, He obeyed them in all things."

*** I’ve also included a SHORT BIO ABOUT the original artist, HEINRICH HOFMANN:

"Johann Michael Ferdinand Heinrich Hofmann (March 19, 1824-June 23, 1911) was a German historical painter of the late 19th to early 20th century. He was the uncle of the German painter Ludwig von Hofmann. He was born in Darmstadt, Germany and died in Dresden, Germany. He is best known for his many paintings depicting the life of Jesus Christ.

Four of the most famous works of Hofmann are in the possession of the Riverside Church in New York: Christ and the Rich Young Ruler, Christ in Gethsemane, Christ in the Temple and Picture of Christ. According to information of the Riverside Church, the painting Christ in Gethsemane is without much doubt one of the most copied paintings in the world. While he chose his subjects from the whole field of literature and mythology, Hofmann is most widely known for his idealized scenes from the life of Christ. Several of these have been extensively reproduced in engravings, especially his "Christ in the Temple," painted in 1882. Heinrich Hofmann died in 1902.

The religious body of Hofmann’s work has gained in importance in the past years. One of the reasons for the increasing popularity of his artwork is the publication of his paintings and pencil drawings depicting the life of Jesus Christ in The Second Coming of Christ, the interpretation of the Bible by Paramahansa Yogananda, the teacher of Yoga.

Heinrich Hofmann was one of the pre-eminent painters of his time. The Sunday Strand – at that time a very popular British magazine– describes him as the most influential contemporary German painter. Hofmann’s style of painting was unique in its own way but at the same time he based his work on the traditional art of old German, Dutch and Italian masters. While in Rome he also came in touch with the Nazarenes – especially through the influence of Cornelius – but throughout his life he remained faithful to the great examples of the Renaissance. Religious paintings take the center stage in Hofmann’s work; but he also created numerous portraits and pictures that depict mythological and historical topics."

This book may have been used in church, as the first page (the inside cover) is hand-signed with the words, "Trinity Church Rensselaerville, N.Y.". In regards to this church, I believe it was originally built in 1815 and is still standing and in use today. Both pictures are very angelic and inspiring. One print is famously titled, "The Light of the World" and the other "St. John". Both pictures were originally painted by the famous listed artist, Charles Bosseron Chambers. Each piece has its original label on the back with its title, publication, artist’s name, and some history about the picture, along with a quote from the Bible pertaining to each image. Both prints have a lovely texture to the paper. There are colorful delicate highlights to both Jesus and St. John’s face and the fine scrollwork in Jesus’ halo, creating a very pleasing and attractive appearance. Their baby blue and hazel eyes easily draw you in to the picture. The expression of St. John the Baptist is absolutely charming with his curly brown locks, his cute chubby fingers clasping a crucifix to his heart, and his open mouth. Both Jesus and John are portrayed with such kind, loving, and angelic faces. Not to mention their blushing cheeks and pure child-like innocence. Both frames are original and matching gold-painted molded wood with a decorative inner frame design. Both prints are in excellent original condition. Both of the frames are also in excellent original condition with some slight age-appropriate wear to the gold finish. Nice original paper backings and original labels. Both frames have their original metal hangers. Circa 1920’s.  This is a lovely inspirational antique print featuring a prayer to the Virgin Mary. ***Here is A SHORT SUMMARY / SYNOPSIS OF THE BOOK, "THE STORY OF THE OTHER WISE MAN" IN THE AUTHORS OWN WORDS:

You know the story of the Three Wise Men of the East, and how they traveled from far away to offer their gifts at the manger-cradle in Bethlehem. But have you ever heard the story of the Other Wise Man, who also saw the star in its rising, and set out to follow it, yet did not arrive with his brethren in the presence of the young child Jesus? Of the great desire of this fourth pilgrim, and how it was denied, yet accomplished in the denial; of his many wanderings and the probations of his soul; of the long way of his seeking, and the strange way of his finding, the One whom he sought—I would tell the tale as I have heard fragments of it in the Hall of Dreams, in the palace of the Heart of Man. (Summary written by Henry van Dyke.)

Four Wise Men followed the star in the east, but only three arrived in Bethlehem on time. This is the legend of the fourth Wise Man Artaban and his journey in search of the King.

Because he is helping others, a fourth Wise Man delays journeying with the other Magi to see the newborn Jesus, but thirty-three years later he has an unusual opportunity to meet his Savior.

***I've included A SHORT WONDERFUL LITTLE BIO AS WELL, ABOUT THE FAMOUS AMERICAN AUTHOR, HENRY-VAN DYKE:

Henry van Dyke (1852 – 1933) was an American author, preacher, university professor, educator, diplomat, poet, translator, clergyman, and author of many inspirational writings. His most famous work is The Story of the Other Wise Man, one of the best loved and most inspiring of all Christmas classics.

He graduated from Princeton University in 1873 and from Princeton Theological Seminary, 1877 and served as a professor of English literature at Princeton between 1899 and 1923. In 1908-09 Dr. van Dyke was an American lecturer at the University of Paris. By appointment of President Wilson he became Minister to the Netherlands and Luxembourg in 1913. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters and received many other honors. His son is Tertius van Dyke.

He chaired the committee that wrote the first Presbyterian printed liturgy, The Book of Common Worship of 1906. Among his popular writings are the two Christmas stories The Other Wise Man (1896) and The First Christmas Tree (1897). Various religious themes of his work are also expressed in his poetry, hymns and the essays collected in Little Rivers (1895) and Fisherman’s Luck (1899). He wrote the lyrics to the popular hymn, "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" (1907), sung to the tune of Beethoven's Ode to Joy. He compiled several short stories in The Blue Flower (1902) named after the key symbol of Romanticism introduced first by Novalis. He also contributed a chapter to the collaborative novel, The Whole Family (1908). Among his poems is Katrina's Sundial, the inspiration for the song Time Is by the group It's a Beautiful Day on their eponymous 1969 debut album.

Van Dyke's "Essays in Application" (1905) was quoted by Jack London in the dystopian novel "The Iron Heel". London disliked Van Dyke's ideas, but paid him the compliment of predicting that his writings would still be remembered six hundred years into the future and be cited by a Twenty-Sixth Century writer as "an example of bourgeois thinking".

Specifically, London took issue with Van Dyke's statement, "The Bible teaches that God owns the world. He distributes to every man according to His own good pleasure, conformably to general laws."

***In addition, I’ve included A TINY BIO ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR ON THE COVER, EDWIN AUSTIN ABBEY:

Edwin Austin Abbey (April 1, 1852 – August 1, 1911) was an American artist, illustrator, muralist, and painter. He flourished at the beginning of what is now referred to as the "golden age" of illustration, and is best known for his drawings and paintings of Shakespearean and Victorian subjects. His most famous work, The Quest of the Holy Grail, resides in the Boston Public Library.  This is a fancy ornate antique brass crucifix. This crucifix has beautiful open-work, scroll-work, and beaded design throughout. It is very shapely and textured. This crucifix has a wonderful presence. It is heavy and substantial. This crucifix is in excellent original condition with very minor and light age-appropriate wear. Nice old patina. Original metal ring hanger. Circa 1920’s.

This is a nice antique religious hardcover book titled, "The Way to Holiness - The Way to the Highest Attainment" by author, H.E. Butler. This is a follow-up book to "Useful Instructions for a Successful Life". The publisher is Esoteric Publishing Company, Applegate, California, U.S.A., copyright 1935. This book has 86 pages. This book is in excellent original condition with the exception of two pages in the middle of the book. A small newspaper clipping from 1951 was set within these pages, making two light brown marks. All of the pages (besides the two mentioned previously) have no tears, stains, or marks, no yellowing to the pages, no creases or dog-ears, no doodling or writing of any kind, etc. The binding is tight and there are no missing pages. The pages are not brittle and the book has no odor. It comes from a smoke-free home. The front and back cover of this book is in excellent condition. The side binding however is just slightly worn at the top and bottom and the gold print of the word ‘Holiness’ is a bit worn. This book would be a great addition to any personal library or collector of religious books. Circa 1935.  This is an attractive inspirational vintage magnet for blessing travelers. This magnet is large in size, made of metal, and has beautiful raised details throughout. This magnet includes beautiful Guardian Angel wings and a halo of open-work depicted as rays of Holy light above the figures of Baby Jesus and Saint Christopher. Such small fine details as St. Christopher’s face and the globe with crucifix Jesus holds in his hand are so nicely defined and easily visible. The top of the magnet reads, "St. Christopher Protect Us". The square-shaped bottom of the magnet depicts a figure of the Virgin Mary with the words, "Our Lady of the Highway Pray for Us". This magnet is in excellent original condition with a nice old patina. Circa 1940’s.  This is a beautiful and endearing antique religious print featuring The Holy Family and titled, "The Rest on the Flight into Egypt". This picture was originally painted by the famous Dutch artist, Adriaen van der Werff (b.1659 - d.1722). Werff was one of the "fijnschilders," a group of artists who painted with such minute precision that not a single brush-stroke can be seen. The print itself does not bare the artist’s signature or title, but the paper backing has writing on it that does state the picture’s title, artist, and residence of the painting today (The National Gallery in London, England). This picture features the Virgin Mary tending to the tired Baby Jesus as He holds, what I believe to be, a branch of cherries to his chest. In Christian teaching, cherries symbolize heaven and is the reward of the righteous. Joseph is faintly seen in the background lying on the ground asleep. The deep molded wood frame is original to the print. The inner frame is gold-pained with black-painted trim on the outer edge and sides of frame. Original paper backing, original glass, and old metal hanger. Circa 1920’s.

* I’ve included below a few DETAILS OF THIS PICTURE & SHORT HISTORY BEHIND IT:

"Joseph was warned in a dream that King Herod was searching for the Christ Child and so took Mary and the infant to Egypt for safety. Their rest during the journey is a frequently depicted incident which is not actually described in the Bible. Joseph lies asleep in the background to the left of the Virgin and Child. This painting appears to have been commissioned by van de Werff's patron, the Elector Palatine, Johann Wilhelm, who had created him a knight (chevalier) in 1703."

* ALSO, A SHORT INTERESTING BIO ON THE LIFE OF FAMOUS ARTIST, ADRIAEN VAN DER WERFF:

"Adriaen van der Werff (21 January 1659 – 12 November 1722) was an accomplished Dutch painter of portraits and erotic, devotional and mythological scenes.

At the age of ten he started to take lessons, two years later moving in with Eglon van der Neer, specializing in clothes and drapery. At the age of seventeen he founded his own studio in Rotterdam where he later became the head of guild of Saint Luc. In 1696, he was paid a visit by Johann Wilhelm, Elector Palatine and his wife, Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici. The couple ordered two paintings to be sent to Cosimo III of Tuscany, Anna Maria Luisa's father, in Florence. During the next years Van der Werff traveled regularly between Düsseldorf and his home town. In 1703, he became the official court painter and a knight, when his former teacher and predecessor Van der Neer died. Van der Werff, with a perfect technique, was paid extremely well by the Elector for his biblical or classical (erotic) paintings. In 1705, he painted a portrait of Gian Gastone de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. In 1716, he lost his job when the Elector died because the treasury was empty.

Van der Werff became one of the most lauded Dutch painters of his day, gaining a European reputation and an enormous fortune. Arnold Houbraken, writing in 1718, considered him the greatest of the Dutch painters and this was the prevailing critical opinion throughout the 18th century: however, his reputation suffered in the 19th century, when he was alleged to have betrayed the Dutch naturalistic tradition. In the Victorian Age people could not appreciate his art, so most of his work went into the cellars of the Alte Pinakothek. Van der Werff also practiced as an architect in Rotterdam, where he designed a few houses."

~ The above article was cited from Wikipedia. The link is as follows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriaen_van_der_Werff  This is a wonderful antique brass crucifix featuring Jesus Christ in an inspirational pose with His arms wide open. (*This crucifix is meant to resemble the famous real-life monument titled "Christ the Redeemer" found on Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The monument was erected and opened to the public in October of 1931. This monument is considered the largest Art Deco statue in the world and was even named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World!!! A symbol of Catholicism, the statue has become an icon of Rio and Brazil. I’ve included more information about the history of this monument below.) The entire crucifix is made of brass and is substantial in weight. The figure of Jesus has somewhat of a hammered copper look to it. This piece has retains its original brass hook for wall hanging. The crucifix is in excellent original condition. Circa 1940’s.

***I’ve included below THE HISTORY BEHIND BRAZIL’S MOST FAMOUS MONUMENT & THE WORLD’S LARGEST ART DECO STATUE, "CHRIST THE REDEEMER":

"Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; considered the largest Art Deco statue in the world. On 7 July 2007, ‘Christ the Redeemer’ was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World! The statue stands 130 feet tall, including its 31 foot pedestal, and 98 feet wide. It weighs 635 tons and is located at the peak of the 2,300 feet Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city. It is one of the tallest of its kind in the world. A symbol of Catholicism, the statue has become an icon of Rio and Brazil. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone.

The idea for erecting a large statue atop Corcovado was first suggested in the mid-1850s, when Catholic priest Pedro Maria Boss requested financing from Princess Isabel to build a large religious moment. Princess Isabel did not think much of the idea and it was completely dismissed in 1889. The second proposal for a landmark statue on the mountain was made in 1921 by the Catholic Circle of Rio. The group organized an event to attract donations and collect signatures to support the building of the statue. The donations came mostly from Brazilian Catholics. The designs considered for the "Statue of the Christ" included a representation of the Christian cross, a statue of Jesus with a globe in his hands, and a pedestal symbolizing the world. The statue of Christ the Redeemer with open arms was chosen.

Local engineer, Heitor da Silva Costa designed the statue; it was sculpted by French sculptor Paul Landowski. A group of engineers and technicians studied Landowski's submissions and the decision was made to build the structure out of reinforced concrete instead of steel, more suitable for the cross-shaped statue. The outer layers are soapstone, chosen for its enduring qualities and ease of use. Construction took nine years, from 1922 to 1931. The monument was opened on October 12, 1931. The cost of the monument was $250,000. The statue was meant to be lit by a battery of floodlights triggered remotely by shortwave radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi, stationed 5,700 miles (9,200 km) away in Rome, but poor weather affected the signal and it had to be lit by workers in Rio.

The statue was struck by lightning during a violent electrical storm on Sunday, February 10, 2008. The storm caused havoc in Rio, but the statue was left unscathed because soapstone, the material forming the outer layers of the statue, is an insulator. In October 2006, on the statue's 75th anniversary, Archbishop of Rio Cardinal Eusebio Oscar Scheid consecrated a chapel under the statue. This allows Catholics to hold baptisms and weddings there."

This is a wonderful vintage religious keychain or keychain accessory. This is used as a type of blessing and serves as protection while traveling. The front of the keychain actually has a double image, depending on how you turn it. One image features a figure of The Blessed Virgin Mary with her hands clasped in prayer, wearing a blue robe with the words circled around her, "Our Lady of the Highway - Pray For Us". The other image features Saint Christopher holding Baby Jesus high up on his shoulders as Jesus blesses the viewer. The words that are circled around them read, "St. Christopher - Protect Us". The back of the keychain is inscribed, "San Jose Church, Founded 1532" with a picture of the church. I’m guessing this keychain may have been given as a gift or souvenir for donations to the church. The large round loop on the end of the keychain opens, closes, and tightly locks to safely secure any extra keys that may be added. The locking mechanism is not rusty, it’s easy to use, and works great. Both sides of the keychain are in excellent original condition. This would make a great unique gift for both the everyday traveler and for the person who has just about everything! Or for yourself, of course! Circa 1960’s - 1970’s.  This is a charming antique/bordering vintage religious porcelain statue/figurine with planter. The statue features Joseph embracing Baby Jesus in his arms, as he clutches a bouquet of beautiful white lilies. The neutral, earthy tones and light pastel colors give off a serene peaceful feeling. Joseph’s robe and the pedestal base are highlighted with gold trim. Both Jesus and Joseph have lovely facial expressions and their posture reflects a feeling of love and compassion. This shapely statue and planter are in excellent original condition with no chips, flakes, cracks or crazing, staining, etc. The inside of the planter is very clean. A floral bouquet of artificial pansies (purple with yellow centers) compliments the planter. There is an original bell-shaped label on the bottom of the statue that reads, "Giftwares Co., Nancy Pew, Japan". Circa 1940’s.  This is a rare inspiring antique religious print featuring Saint Catherine of Cleves, The Virgin Mary, and Baby Jesus. Although this print is not titled, the actual title is, "Catherine of Cleves Kneeling before the Virgin Mary & Child". Below this description is some very interesting text with the full details of what’s happening in this picture. The colors are bright and vibrant and there are so many intriguing details and symbolic illustrations throughout this picture. The border is intertwined with vines, flowers, symbols, shields, animals, angels, and other interesting creatures. The print is in excellent original condition. The black-painted molded wood frame is original to the print. It is also in excellent original condition. Old cardboard backing with stamped manufacturers name, "A Lambert Product, Made in U.S.A.". New wire hanger. Old glass. Circa 1940’s.

*** I’ve included below some GREAT INFORMATION ABOUT THE DETAILS AND SYMBOLIC NATURE OF THIS PARTICULAR PICTURE:

"The crowned Virgin stands on an inverted silver crescent moon, holding her Child and an ink bottle into which He dips His pen. Across His lap lies an illegible scroll, and an empty scroll case hangs over the arm of the Virgin. Both figures, encompassed by a gold mandorla, are placed within a shallow chapel, possibly Catherine’s own, surmounted by flying buttresses, crenelations, two turrets with music-making angels and, in the central niche, a statue in a gesture of benediction, holding a gold object (a church?) in its other arm. The statue may represent Saint Nicholas who was patron saint of the castle chapel at Cleves. Beneath the statue hangs an heraldic shield a` bouche, Barry of eight argent and sable. Catherine kneels at the Virgin’s right with an open book and a banderole inscribed O mater dei memento mei. In the border are the arms of Catherine as Duchess of Guelders and those of four of her ancestors. These forebears have been identified by F. Gorissen as four of Catherine’s great-grandfathers (Count Diderik of Cleves, Count Engelberg of Mark, Duke Ludwig of Bavaria, and Duke Ludwig of Liegnitz); by P. Pieper and D. H. Horstmann as four of her great-grandparents. The arms of other forebears occur on the facing page of the manuscript and are reproduced in the next plate."

This is a very special, rare, and unused family house blessing antique print with a gorgeous picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. This piece is titled at the bottom, "Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart". A family’s name, date, and signature belong at the bottom but it is blank and has never been used or filled in, which is very, very rare to see. The colors of this print are bright and vivid with lovely details throughout. Christ has a compassionate and endearing face. The top left corner of the matting reads, "Copyright 1936 by Apostleship of Prayer; 515 East Fordham Road, New York". The top right corner matting reads, "Imprimatur, New York, May 1936, Patrick Cardinal Hayes". Within the picture near the bottom right corner read the words, "Copyright A. of P., N.Y. 1936". This print is in excellent original condition, except for two small light stains near the top corners of the matting. The decorative original frame is oak grained with a nice old natural finish. The top corners of the frame have a couple chips. Also, the decorative thin molding that trims the inside of the frame has 3 little tiny pieces missing in the corners as well, but this is very small and only noticeable under close inspection of the frame. This piece retains its original glass and old wire hanger. Possibly replaced cardboard backing, but old nails. This is a rare opportunity to own and personalize your own Family Consecration Blessing Print! Circa 1936.

*** I've included the Prayer Steps to Consecrate a Family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

Prayer steps to consecrating your family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is an act whereby the family devotes itself to the Sacred Heart as to its King, recognizes Him as its King, and promises to make Him reign and rule over the whole family.

*Two Elements

1. the head of the family recognizes the right of the Sacred Heart to rule over his family

2. an act of the will, by which he submits both himself and his family to the dominion of the Sacred Heart

*Obligations of the Family

1. to keep God's commandments and precepts of the Church

2. to discharge the duties of their state of life

3. to avoid whatever displeases the Sacred Heart, whatever endangers faith and morals

4. to imitate the virtues shone in the Holy Family of Nazareth: mutual charity, obedience,

5. prayer, purity and devotion to work

6. to cultivate a spirit of true piety by

7. night prayers in common

8. assistance in Mass

9. frequent communion

10. devotion to the Sacred Heart (on First Fridays and Feast day)

11. Visible manifestation

12. The image of the Sacred Heart must occupy a prominent place of honor.

13. Members of the family must greet Him on coming in and going out of the house (through words of praise).

14. They will share with Him reunions and rejoicings, making Him truly a member of the family.

15. The family will best pray in common before Him especially in times of difficulties

(also on First Fridays and feast of the Sacred Heart)

*Ceremony Preparation

- set the consecration on a day when all members of the family can be present

- decorate the image with flowers and candles in a prominent, permanent place

- prepare the family internally by confession, Mass and communion

- obtain a diploma of consecration where members will sign their names.

*Procedure of Blessing of the home

- members of the family carry lighted candles

- recitation of "the Apostles' creed"

- all kneel for the solemn act

- the father of the family recites:

"O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, You revealed to St. Margaret Mary Your desire to rule over Christian families; behold, in order to please You, we gather before You this day, to proclaim Your full sovereignty over our family. We desire henceforth to live Your life; we desire that the virtues, to which You have promised peace on earth, may flower in the bosom of our family; we desire to keep far from us the spirit of the world, which You have condemned. You are King of our minds by the simplicity of our faith; you are King of our hearts by our love for You alone, with which our hearts are on fire, and whose flame we shall keep alive by frequently receiving the Holy Eucharist. Be pleased, O Sacred Heart, to preside over our gathering together, to bless our spiritual and temporal affairs, to ward off all annoyance from us, to sanctify our joys and comfort our sorrows. If any of us has ever been so unhappy as to fall into the misery of displeasing you, grant that we may remember, O Heart of Jesus, that You are full of goodness and mercy toward the repentant sinner. And when the hour of separation strikes and death enters our family circle, whether we go or whether we stay, we shall bow humbly before Your eternal decrees. This shall be our consolation to remember that the day will come when our entire family, once more united in heaven, shall be able to sing of Your glory and Your goodness forever. May the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the glorious patriarch St. Joseph deign to offer You our act of consecration, and to keep the memory of it alive in us all the days of our lives. Glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father. The whole family recites in unison: We consecrate to You, O Heart of Jesus, the trials and joys, and all the happiness of our family life, and we beg you, to pour out Your best blessings, on all its members, present and absent, living and dead. And when one after the other, we shall have closed our eyes in holy death, O Jesus, may all of us in paradise, find again our entire family, united in Your Sacred Heart. Amen."

*Recitation of the Litany of the Sacred Heart:

"Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us, God the Father of heaven, have mercy on us. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us. God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us. Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, Son of the Eternal Father, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, formed by the Holy Spirit, in the womb of the Virgin Mother, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, substantially united to the Word of God, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, of infinite majesty, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, sacred Temple of God, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, tabernacle of the Most High, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, house of God and Gate of Heaven, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, burning furnace of charity, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, abode of justice and love, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, full of goodness and love, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, abyss of all virtues, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, most worthy of all praise, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, King and center of all hearts, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, in whom dwells the fullness of divinity, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, in whom the Father was well pleased, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, desire of the everlasting hills, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, patient and most merciful, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, enriching all who invoke You, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, propitiation for our sins, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, loaded down with reproaches, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, bruised for our offenses, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, obedient unto death, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, pierced with a lance, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, source of all consolation, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, our life and resurrection, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, our peace and reconciliation, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, victim of sin, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, salvation of those who trust in You, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, hope of those who die in You, have mercy on us. Heart of Jesus, delight of all the saints, have mercy on us. Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, spare us O Lord. Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord. Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Jesus, meek and humble of Heart, make our hearts like unto Thine."

*Let us pray:

"O almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of Your dearly beloved Son, and upon the praise and sanctification He offers You in behalf of sinners, and being appeased, grant pardon to those who seek Your mercy, in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns in You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen."

*Prayer for the departed members of the family:

"Our Father...

Hail Mary...

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen."

*Invocations:

"Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your Kingdom come. Sacred Heart of Jesus, protect our families. Heart of Jesus burning with love of us, set our hearts on fire with love of You. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You. Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation. Glory, love and thanksgiving be to the Sacred Heart of Jesus."

*Signing of the consecration diploma

*Renewal of the family consecration to the Sacred Heart - This is done every year on the first anniversary or feast of the Sacred Heart or Christ the King or any important family occasion.

*Final Hymn:

"O God of goodness and mercy, to Your fatherly protection we commend our family, our household, and all that belong to us. We commit all to Your love and keeping. Fill this house with Your blessing even as You filled the holy house of Nazareth with Your presence. Keep far from us, above all things else, the taint of sin and reign alone in our midst by Your law, by Your most Holy Love and by the exercise of every Christian virtue. Let each one of us obey You, love You, and set himself to imitate in his own life Your example, that of Mary, Your Mother and our Most loving Mother, and that of Your blameless guardian, St. Joseph. Preserve us and our house from all evils and misfortunes, and grant that we may always be resigned to Your divine will even in the sorrows which it may please You to send us. Finally, give to all of us the grace to live in perfect harmony and in the fullness of love toward our neighbor. Grant that every one of us may deserve, by a holy life, the comfort of Your holy sacraments at the hour of death. O Jesus, bless us and protect us. O Mary, mother of grace and of mercy, defend us against the wicked spirit; reconcile us with Your Son, commit us to His keeping, so that we may be made worthy of His promises. St. Joseph, foster-father of our Savior, guardian of His Holy Mother, head of the Holy Family, intercede for us, bless us and defend our home at all times. St. Michael, defend us against all the wicked cunning of hell. St. Gabriel, make us understand the holy will of God. St. Raphael, keep us free from all sickness and from every danger to our lives. Our Holy Guardian angels, keep our feet safely on the path of salvation day and night. O Holy Patrons, pray for us before the throne of God. Yes, bless this house, O God, the Father, who has created us. O God the Son, who suffered for us upon the Holy Cross. O Holy Spirit, who has sanctified us in holy baptism. May the one God in three divine persons preserve our bodies, purify our minds, direct our hearts and bring us all to everlasting life. Glory be to the Father, glory be to the Son, glory be to the Holy Spirit. Amen."

"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy is an effective and enduring text on spirituality and healing. It explains the spiritual teachings of the Bible, revealing the divine Science that, when put into practice, brings health and harmony to all aspects of our lives. If you're exploring the power of prayer, seeking health and well-being, or perhaps questioning the deeper purpose of life, reading this book will reward you with answers. The last 100 pages are letters from those who have experienced healing simply by reading or studying this textbook of the Science of Christianity. One reader notes that "it was the theology in Science and Health that healed me, just as it was the theology of Jesus that healed the sick."

“The Last Supper” Very Unique Antique / $85.00

This is a well-done, very unique, and special antique sketch with pencil drawing of ‘The Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ’. This original artwork is signed by the artist, with her name at the bottom of the picture, "Marjorie H.". The artist’s interpretation is most unique, as she drew the Sacred Heart in Jesus’ hand instead of it being within His chest. It is almost as though Jesus is presenting or displaying The Sacred Heart to the viewer. The expressions and facial features of Jesus are inspiring and compelling. The sketch has been done with pencil drawing and is in excellent original condition. The matting (which is all one with the picture) is also in excellent original condition, except for a couple tiny dots. The decorative molded wood frame is original to this piece with old silver paint. The frame is in excellent original condition with very minor light age-appropriate wear to the paint. Old glass, paper backing, and old wire hanger. Circa 1920’s.  This is a wonderfully cheerful and inspiring antique religious motto print titled, "The Blessing of the Sacred Heart". The motto’s title and the Blessing are printed in a fancy and decorative Old English large bold text. Soft, delicate pansy flowers (symbolizing remembrance and meditation) decorate and frame the blessing. This print has beautiful soft pastel colors with a touch of gold highlight encasing the letter ‘M’. This print has a lovely textured background with a sprinkling of glitter throughout. The bottom left corner is stamped in gold the words, "H- N.Y.". I’m not sure what the letter ‘H’ stands for…I would presume either a city in New York or the publisher possibly. In the bottom right corner also in gold print are the words, "Printed in U.S.A.". This print is in excellent original condition. The original molded wood frame retains the original gold finish and shows some very minor age-appropriate wear. The print retains the original glass, paper backing, and old string hanger. Circa 1920’s.  This is a wonderful antique religious Bible & lesson picture book written for children titled, "First Steps for Little Feet in Gospel Paths", copyright 1882, written by the famous author, Charles Foster. This is the same author who wrote the book, ‘Story of the Bible’ and ‘The Story of the Gospel’. The title page includes the words, "Sixteenth Thousand"..I’m not sure if this is the 16,000th copy or if it has a different meaning. Upon researching this piece, I could not come to a positive conclusion whether this book is a first or second edition or neither, as I could not find a book exactly identical with regards to the copyright date of 1882. This book has a dark navy blue hardcover, delicately embossed with fine floral detail and patterns throughout. The cover is in strong perfect and in excellent condition with tight, straight binding. The cover shows no fading, bending, or wear and in a certain light, shows a gorgeous picture of a Mother reading her daughter a bedtime story. The first blank page of the book has a hand-written inscription from the original gift giver, "Nellie..Dec. 25th / 85". The title page has a beautiful color engraving of a child kneeling in prayer on her mother’s lap and titled, "Our Father who art in Heaven". This particular illustration is protected with the original tissue guard. Distributed throughout this book’s pages, from beginning to end, are beautiful black and white engravings and line drawings, illustrating the principal scenes and events narrated in this book! Also, each illustration has a lovely complimentary title. The publisher of this book is, "Charles Foster Publishing Co.; 118 S. Seventh Street; Philadelphia, PA". In small letters at the bottom on the last page of the index reads the words, "Electrotyped by Westcott & Thomson, Philadelphia". This is a very special book, especially for children. Including the index, this book has a total of 328 pages (92 chapters in all). All pages and illustrations are present. There are NO tears, rips, stains, no scribbling or doodling, no dog-ears, foxing, or yellowing to the pages, etc. This book has no odor and comes from a smoke free home. This entire book (inside and out) is in excellent original condition. Copyright 1882.

~ Here is the link: http://www.archive.org/details/firststepsforlit00fost  This is a beautiful matching pair of antique religious prints featuring The Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ and The Virgin Mary. Both pictures have nice bright colors with a lovely golden hue. The decorative molded wood frames are matching and original to the prints. Both frames retain their original gold finish and are both in excellent original condition. Also, both prints are in excellent original condition, except for a small faint stain in the top right corner of the Jesus print and a slight light stain on the print of Mary at the top of her head. *** I’ve included below, some INTERESTING HISTORY & INFORMATION ABOUT THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS & MARY:

The Sacred Heart (also known as Sacred Heart of Jesus) is one of the most famous religious devotions to Jesus' physical heart as the representation of His divine love for Humanity.

This devotion is predominantly used in the Roman Catholic, Anglo Catholic, and Lutheran Churches. It stresses the central Christian concept of loving and adoring Jesus. The origin of this devotion in its modern form is derived from a French Roman Catholic nun, Marguerite Marie Alacoque, who said she learned the devotion from Jesus in visions. Predecessors to the modern devotion arose unmistakably in the Middle Ages in various facets of Christian mysticism.

The Sacred Heart is often depicted in Christian art as a flaming heart shining with divine light, pierced by the lance-wound, surrounded by a crown of thorns, surmounted by a cross and bleeding. Sometimes the image is over Jesus' body with his wounded hands pointing at the heart. The wounds and crown of thorns allude to the manner of Jesus' death, while the fire represents the transformative power of love.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart has been a Solemnity in the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar since 1856, and is celebrated 19 days after Pentecost. As Pentecost is always celebrated on Sunday, the Feast of the Sacred Heart always falls on a Friday.

~ The above information was cited from the following website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Heart

*** I’ve also found some HISTORY ABOUT THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY:

The Immaculate Heart of Mary originally The Sacred Heart of Mary is a devotional name used to refer to the interior life of Mary, her joys and sorrows, her virtues and hidden perfections, and, above all, her virginal love for her God, her maternal love for her Son, Jesus, and her compassionate love for all people. The consideration of Mary's interior life and the beauties of her soul, without any thought of her physical heart, does not constitute the traditional devotion; still less does it consist in the consideration of the Heart of Mary merely as a part of her virginal body. In 1855 the Mass of the Most Pure Heart formally became a part of Catholic practice. The two elements are essential to the devotion, just as, according to Roman Catholic theology, soul and body are necessary to the constitution of man.

Traditionally, the heart is pierced with seven wounds or swords, in homage to the seven dolors of Mary. Consequently, seven Hail Marys are said daily in honor of the devotion. Also, roses or another type of flower may be wrapped around the heart
