We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Finally! An Easy-to-Understand Collector's Guide to Volcanics! Widely regarded as "The Gun that Won the West," Winchester repeating rifles occupy a special place in the hearts of the American publicÂ…not to mention audiences of Hollywood "Western" movies worldwide. But without the lesser-known Volcanic Repeating Arms Co., none of that would ever have happened. This book tells us the story of five men who would become giants in the history of arms manufacturing (Hunt, Jennings, Smith, Wesson, Henry and Winchester) and illustrates the best surviving examples of the pistols and longarms that were produced when their creative and business talents briefly intersected, commingles and then separated. Without risk of exaggeration, what you hold in your hands is a veritable explosion of brilliant color photography, showing some of the most beautiful guns ever made. However, more than a coffee-table book, it is an indispensable guide to the identification, authentication, categorization and historical legacy of these intriguing weapons and their accoutrements. Nothing like it has ever appeared before, and we are confident that the publication of this book will change Volcanic collecting forever. Until now, even prestigious dealers and auction houses were often confused by the seemingly senseless tangle of variations, models, frame sizes, company names, markings and features that are all part and parcel of the complex Volcanic story. The time to end this confusion is now!

We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Table of Contents: - This book provides an overview of the history, style and use of the powder horn in the everyday lives of early Americans. While, of necessity, some commercially produced powder horns are pictured, the emphasis is on home made pieces. Such horns, though primitive in construction, were totally serviceable. Simplicity and individuality took the place of highly engraved horns on each side of the year 1800. They were indispensible, yet so commonplace, that they were taken for granted. However, the truch that comes with proper perspective gives us the opportunity to recognize their contribution.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Doug Pollard tells the story of a remarkable 70-year-old company whose name is synonymous with the West Coast fishery, from California to Alaska. This book traces the evolution of sport fishing for salmon in the legendary waters of Vancouver Island. Pollard's narrative show ho the fortune of the company, Canada's most successful tackle maker, are tied to the fortunes of the fishery. Boris C. Peetz, a Russian-born silversmith, arrived in Victoria, BC in 1911 and built his first reels a decade later. By 1935 the BC Peetz Manufacturing Company had fishing reels and swivels as its main line of business. The company diversified into tackle and whole-cane rods, but is was their handmade wood and brass Peetz fishing reels that became North American classics. The tough, uncomplicated design of the Peetz reel has enabled it to stand the test of time.  Linebacker Brian Urlacher and Running Back Matt Forte’s 2008 Rookie year are offered here as 5 x 7 Inch Fatheads mini tradeable cards. Rather than a static, stand still pose, Fatheads are considered in motion cards because their photos of fan favorites show them actively doing their football thing.

What’s great about these cards is that they will stick to your display surface without causing any damage, and can be peeled off and re-used someplace else if desired. Or just collect and trade them for others. So get Duh Bears Fathead minis which are in very fine condition with minor curling at the edges.  Here’s a combination of four N.Y. Jets Fathead cards from 2008 with then Quarterback Brett Favre, and Linebacker Vernon Cholston, along with 2011 cards for Mark Sanchez and Ladainian Tomlinson.

The 5 x 7 inch trading cards have their peel and stick backing in place and will adhere to any clean surface without damage and can even be re-used. The four mini cards do have some minor wrinkling/curling, but they should lie flat when affixed to wherever you choose to display them.  Black & Silver fans, here are 3 hard to find Fathead authentic 5 x 7 inch trading cards with the reusable peel and stick backing. In this set are 2008 Quarterback, Jamarcus Russell, Running Back, Darren McFadden and the Raiders official Helmet Insignia.

The cards are in well-cared for, pre-owned condition with some minor wrinkling, and would be a terrific addition to an Oakland Raiders collection.

Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Occasionally the course of history is altered by the convergence of conditions and events that indelibly and permanently change how it develops. During the convergence of these conditions, entrepreneurs seize the day to make their mark. Frank O’Brien and Tycoon Tackle came on the scene just as the most flourishing period of saltwater fishing was taking place and their unprecedented innovations were integral to the sport of big game angling as it entered it’s "gilded age." The "Gilded Age of Big Game Angling" was made possible, in part, by the fishing rods and other products manufactured by O’Brien. Along the way, the company became a respected leader in industry, a respected corporate citizen, helped win two wars, and impacted people in a way that is still discussed seventy-five years later. This is the story of a successful company and its exemplary executive that is only possible in America, qualifying it to be considered an "American success story." It spans from the "age of innocence" to the present day. The men and women who made Tycoon Tackle changed a sport and many lives as well. This is their story. In The Tycoon Tackle Story, Timothy P. O'Brien -- the son of Tycoon tackle founder Frank O'Brien, Jr. -- gives us incredible detail and insight into one of the most beloved and legendary tackle firms in history. Utilizing the massive Tycoon Tackle archives as well as significant academic research (the book has well over 1000 end notes), O'Brien's work will be the definitive history of the company, and one of the most important contributions to the history of big game angling.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Remington-Whitmore, William Baker, George H. Fox, Ansley H. Fox, Colt, ... and Winchester. Large, crisp photos, realized values, and company histories are once again components of this essential encyclopedia for collectors. It continues the author s tradition of discussing companies others have forgotten or offering more details on companies already known. Hot collectible lures from the modern era are discussed and any corrections or additions to earlier volumes are included. Expanded manufacturer information and new companies are highlights of the book, and the index is once again a useful component. A selected tour of 1972 to 1987 is a special chapter of the book, as well as full details on 1986: A Year in Review. Heddon lures from 1972 to 1987 are given coverage, as are modern fish decoy carvers. Nearly 1,500 photos and 2,000 lure illustrations, including dozens of lure color charts never before published, make this a perfect companion to the author s other books.

Table of Contents: - - - - - - It has been more than 20 years since a major work on switchblades has been published, and never has one showcased as many different types of automatic knives as Rich Langston's welcome new book. The Collector's Guide to Switchblade Knives contains a history of the early cutlery industry in the United States, a detailed examination of the evolution of switchblade knives, and a user-friendly illustrated guide that helps collectors and novices alike identify all kinds of automatic knives from one-of-a-kind museum-quality antiques to Great-Grandfather's old folder that's been gathering dust in the attic for the past 100 years. Using a dual grading system, this reference gives an honest appraisal of more than 160 automatic knives based on: manufacturertang markingsconditionavailabilityfunctioningopening mechanismhandleand blade materials. All of the knives in this book are from the author's personal collection, which he has been assembling since the age of 7 when he saw his first switchblade and fell under its spell. The knives include examples from the early days of the fledgling cutlery industry in New England to the current imports finding their way into the United States (despite the restrictive laws in the late 1950s that all but outlawed switchblades in this country). New opportunities to acquire and trade switchblades through such Web sites as eBay have sent prices skyrocketing, making older price guides totally unreliable. This handsome hardcover addition to the cutlery library is for collectors, switchblade aficionados, edged-weapons enthusiasts, historians, or anyone even thinking of buying or selling a switchblade. OUT OF PRINT This volume is the fourth in a colorful, historical, five-volume series by author Russell E. Lewis. Dealing primarily with items made in the United States since 1940, the series details the fishing tackle industry and its changes until the closing of most companies in the early 1980s. Large, crisp photos, realized values, and company histories are once again components of this essential encyclopedia for collectors. It contains all-new material not presented in the first three volumes. Expanded manufacturer information and new companies are highlights of the book. A review of items from 1953 until 1972 will show collectors what was available at particular times from various companies. Then, the years 1959 and 1970 are given full coverage, as well as all Abu-Garcia items for 1966. Finally, selected photos of miscellaneous fishing collectibles and photos of rods and reels made from 1938 until 1972 round out the book. Nearly 1,500 photos make this a perfect companion to the author's other books.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Main sections include WoodsIronsPuttersAdjustable ClubsFancy Club FacesWedgesUtility IronsShaftsGrips ComparisonsGradingCondition ScalesValues...and a glossary.Manufacturers represented include Allied, MacGregor, Wilson, Spalding, and McGill and others. PUBLISHER'S REVIEW This book helps fill a large gap in understanding a great era of golf, 1919 to 1942, the period of change from the hickory or wooden shaft to steel and innovations in production and designs by great designers - many of who not only designed clubs but are amongst the greatest golfers ever. The book introduces the metal and pyratone covered metal shafted clubs of 1919 - 1942 and the slow retreat until 1932 when very few clubs were made with hickory shaft.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. This mini pro red, white and blue basketball was signed by Darrel Dawkins, the coach of the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs United States basketball league team, and former 76ers and NJ Nets player.

We are not exactly sure of the age of the basketball, which the previous owner had signed by Dawkins while attending a game coached by Dawkins. Darrel became the coach of the Dawgs in 1999 and went on with the team to win the U.S. championships in both 2001 and 2004. Prior to this, his accomplishments include being named as one of the 10th best dunkers of all time.

Ball is in very good overall condition, and had been stored in plastic by the previous owner once the signature had been obtained, which had been removed to take pictures. Signature is of Dawkins' name along with #53 and Chocolate Thunder (his number and nickname while playing with the Nets).

Slight cracking of the red and blue paint, just from aging and not from use. Ball has lost some air, but could easily be re-inflated using a bicycle pump.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. From Patrick Garner and Brian Taylor comes the definitive work on the life and career of W.H. Dingley. William Henry Dingley was arguably the most skilled English reelmaker of the 20th century. An inventor and consummate craftsman, Dingley's genius dominated more than 50 years of tackle history, an unrivaled feat. Both fishermen and collectors avidly seek his reels today. This book is the first that focuses on his life and his wide variety of reels. From the late 19th century through three quarters of the 20th, Britain produced highly accomplished reel makers who, for more than a century, produced the finest fishing reels in the world. W.H. Dingley, who spent more than half of his life in the small country town of Alnwick, Northumberland in the northeast of England, is increasingly recognized as one of the most skilled of these exceptional craftsmen. Collectors know his works today by the now famous D that is often stamped inside his reels. Although providing extensive biographical details--much of it in print for the first time--the book's prime purpose is to illustrate Dingley reels. Numerous photographs are provided, as well as rarely seen cuts of period catalogs. Research for the book included interviewing ex-Hardy and ex-Dingley reel makers, handling original documents, corresponding with Dingley family members, and correcting rumors and previously published errors. Collectors from around the world sent the authors their prized examples of Dingley reels for analysis and photo-documentation. More than 60 Dingley reels are illustrated--including a number both rare and spectacular. Photographs illustrate exterior features, as well as internal gearing. Subtle period differences are shown, and numerous variations illustrated. Dingley continued to work steadily until his death in 1946 at the age of 85. By the time he died, he had worked largely without pause in the English reel trade for almost 71 years--33 of those years as a proprietor and entrepreneur. Looking back over the last 150 years of reel making, the authors conclude that few reel makers of any era rival Dingley in his production, creativity, and tenacious standards.

Lumpkin, one of the most enduring fishing lures ever made is detailed for the first time ever in print: the Illinois Jointed River Minnow. The first widely popular narrow body jointed fishing lure in American fishing history, it has its origins with the lure style's inventor William J. Kauth in 1924, but soon spawned a number of important imitators and improved copies. All of the major makers of Jointed River Minnows lived within a couple hours of each other near the Kankakee River. Manufacturers covered include William J. Kauth, Gen-Shaw Bait Co., Rex Line Bait Co., Stream Line Products, Inc., and a number of small makers as well as later imitators. Illustrated with dozens of crisp color lure photos and numerous vintage photos, ads, and information, this book will be the definitive work on one of the most important lure types in American fishing history. Note that Volume II in this series will cover the largest of the Jointed River Minnow manufacturers--the L & S Bait Co. of Bradley, Illinois.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. THE RIVER RUNT DID THE STUNT So began the breathless copy from the 1936 catalog of James Heddons' Sons, the premier manufacturer of artificial baits in the world. First introduced in wood in 1929, the River Runt vaulted to the forefront of the American angler's thoughts in 1933 when it was released in plastic as the River Runt Spook. It soon rose to become Heddon's best selling family of fishing lures, and one of the most famous (and productive) lures in history. In this book, Heddon scholars and noted collectors Tom Jacomet and Dennis Boulais have combined forces to create the definitive guide to all things River Runt. Tracking the origins and development of the original wooden Series 110 River Runt to the splashy introduction of the River Runt Spook and its various permutations, the authors cover all of the known variations for each of the more than two dozen River Runt models, from the most popular to the obscure, and from fly rod to salmon size. Based on nearly two decades of research, The Heddon River Runt Identification and Collector's Guide not only gives us every known (and a couple dozen as yet unknown) color used on the River Runt and River Runt Spook, it also covers the bewildering array of hardware, the plethora of different boxes, and advertising pieces related to this family of baits. Throw in oddities, knock offs, and fakes, and this is the only treatise you'll ever need to collect one of the most popular lures ever made. Contains chapters on all the River Runt models, including photos of hardware, boxes, variations, oddities, and of course, all of the known colors of the Heddon River Runt Spook. There are quick reference charts at the end of every chapter. Over 500 different River Runt Spooks are pictured! This will be the definitive work on the Heddon River Runt and is a must for any collector or anglerÂ’s library.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. An angler of note, fishing guide, maker of such iconic films as Bigmouth and Bigmouth Forever, and the producer of notable television shows as The Fisherman, Sports Afield, and The Outdoorsman, Glen has become one of the most knowledgeable bass anglers in the world. With the help of his friend Ken Duke -- executive editor of Bassmaster publications -- and with an introduction by Homer Circle, here for the first time ever, he tells the story of his life and the story of how big bass live, feed, and procreate. Glen gives freely from his 50+ years of experience with only the largest bass, and how big bass are affected by the weather and moon, the seasons, water temperature, and numerous other factors. He delves into detail on the kind of lures that are effective for the biggest bass, how to fish them properly, and how a bass' senses work and how it effects lure presentation. But there is so much more. You learn how he tried (and almost succeeded) in raising a world-record bass and what it taught him about how huge bass act and how selective breeding can build stronger and heavier fish. You'll discover Glen's tips on the importance of casting, boat position, effective anchoring, learning from your mistakes, and persistence. Glen argues that good anglers are made, not born, and explains how to find big bass, how to fish for them, and ultimately how to be a successful big bass angler. Along the way, you'll learn many fascinating things about Glen's life. About how he taught himself to be an underwater camera man and then became so proficient his photos graced the covers of hundreds of magazines. You'll be amazed at how he caught a potential world-record bass through his underwater camera lens in California. You'll read his anecdotes about many of the largest bass caught during his lifetime, and his successful foray into the tackle business with the patented Lau Lure. You'll discover the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of his films Bigmouth, one of the most decorated movies in outdoor history, and Bigmouth Forever, a movie that Ray Scott, founder of B.A.S.S., has called the best film ever made about anything. And you'll learn of his four-decade friendship with the most iconic angler of the second half of the twentieth century, the legendary Homer Circle. The book includes over 80 stunning full color underwater photos from Glen's extensive photo library, showing big bass at all stages of development, at rest, mating, and feeding. Bass Forever is not just a catchy title, it is a fitting description of one man and his life-long passion for big bass.

The significant merit and historical importance of vintage folk art fishing lures and tackle have remained largely "undiscovered" by the folk art community. This book will change that. Over 700 striking color photos and fascinating text presents vintage folk art fishing lures, predominantly from the first half of the 20th century, as small, exquisite, handcrafted treasures. Originally made only for catching fish, these lures were assembled from available materials and household supplies. Through their makers' vision and talent, miniature "sculptures" were created. Each lure is unique and personal. Detailed background, historical, and introductory sections complement photos conveying the limitless range of lure designs from primitives to elaborate folk art classics. Early folk artists including Bud Stewart, William Giles, and Burt Errett as well as contemporary artists Bob Baird, Aage Bjerring, Bill Grossman, C.B. Lewis, and C.E. Wilson are featured. First-ever detailed benchmarks to assess an individual folk art lure's quality, condition, authenticity, and value. This book is a treasure for fishermen and folk art collectors, displaying lures from both known and anonymous makers. 718 color photos  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. This book is the first in English to provide a complete discussion every Yugoslav Mauser rifle from 1880 to the present, including sniper, hunting and target rifles and .22 sporting rifles. Publishers Full Description: Few realize it but an obscure little Balkan country which had recently gained its independence from the Ottoman Empire, played a profound role in the development of the Mauser rifle. Serbia's purchase of the Model 1871 rifle came just in time to save the Mauser company from bankruptcy. It became the Serbian Model 1880. Among other innovations for which Serbian designers were responsible was the famous "ring-of-steel" which provided complete support for the cartridge base, and which was introduced into the Gew.M1898 rifle in 1905. Serbia, later renamed Yugoslavia, also helped develop the "intermediate-ring" Mauser action. Yugoslav Mausers - Models 1924-52C (C with an breve --"v" diacritical mark), Model 24/47 and Model 1948 - are prized collectors items. Mr. Bogdanovic's book is the first in English to provide a complete discussion of these, and every other "Yugoslav" Mauser rifles from 1880 to the present, including all sniper rifles, hunting and target rifles and .22 sporting rifles.
