Fine condition, clean and fresh.  PR China 197: Cover with Nanjing Bridge vignette, 8 Fen stamp Defense of Chen-Pao-tao at reverse.


Jiangsu, Nanjing cancellation. Fine condition.  PR China 1970, 1971: 2 attractive covers with patriotic image (soldier helps peasants) and Mao Zedong slogan.

Both with good stamps and clear Shanghai-cancellations.


Red arrival-mark on the back of the upper cover.  Attractive tiny letter, so-called lady-letter, sent as registered mail Smyrna to Vienna. Censor-marks and red strikes.


Smyrna is located in Anatolia and named Izmir today.

2 intact wax-seals at reverse, arrival marks, clear cancellations, fine condition.  PR China 1972. Postal cover with portrait of Dr. Norman Bethune under Mao Zedong slogan. Used in Shanghai in 1972.


Henry Norman Bethune (1890 –1939; Chinese name: 白求恩) was a Canadian physician and medical innovator. Bethune is best known for his service in war time medical units during the Spanish Civil War and with the People's Liberation Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War. He developed the first mobile blood-transfusion service in Spain in 1936. A Communist, he wrote that wars were motivated by profits, not principles.  Republic of China 1937: Receipt (正收条) of the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation (上海华侨银行有限公司). Attached are a 2 Cents and a 1 Cent fiscal stamps, violet, oval cancelation. Holes from filing.

8,2 x 6,6 inches. Some wear, the upper right corner with fault.  Peoples Republic of China: Revolutionary cover with soldier an machine gun, revolutionary slogan below. Original, hand written letter is part of the lot. Used in Shanghai in 1977. Fine condition.

Malaysia, Perak. Attractive cover, sent from Sitiawan to Devakottai. Attached is a strip of 5 2 cents stamps. Clear cancellations, clean and fresh, fine condition.


Sitiawan (alternate spelling: Setiawan) is a region in the Manjung district of Perak, Malaysia.


Devakottai is a town and a municipality in Sivaganga district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.  Peoples Republic of China Stamp Set: Gold Haired Monkeys. CTO

Michel# NW 76  German Kiautschou 1 Cent brown, tied by a clear Tsingtau 30. 03. 1907 strike. NO details of time.( Usually the hour would follow. This kind is the Type 11a after German BDPh Colony stamp catalogue ). Sent as printed matter to Germany, very fine condition.

10 cents Netherlands Indies ( now Indonesia ) stationery sent in 1892 from Magelang to Semarang. Minor tear, still fine condition  Postcard depicting Japanese dancer. The card has been sent from Harbin ( March 30th 1922 ) via Shanghai ( April 22nd ! ) to Budapest / Hungary, where it arrived August 19 th. Some wear but no tears, one corner with crease, ink faint .  1912: Shimonoseki, Japan: Card to Tientsin in China b/w postcard depicting view at Shimonoseki from sea side. The 1 ½ Sen val has been tied by a Shimonoseki strike. The card has been sent to Tianjin ( Tientsin ) in China. Additional arrival strike of the Austrian - Hungarian Lagation in China. Fine condition.  Dutch East Indies 1905: Tello River near Makassar, tinted postcard sent Makasser via Soerabaja to Mies in former Austria. Nice image, neat writing, fine condition.

1949: Postal Card sent Osaka to Nymburkt / Czechoslovakia. 2 Yen postal card with additional 5 stamps including the better Sakura # 170. Unusual combination of stamps. Minor creasing, otherwise fine.  1922, Japan / Austria: Nice view of ladies and children carrying goods at the sea shore. Mount Fuji at back. The card is imprinted as: Hichirigahama, Kamakura, the attached 2 Sen pair has a clear cancellation. Minor faults. Fine condition.  Scott# 785 as perforate and imperforate variety on a cover sent Shanghai to Columbia / USA. At the back is a block /4 of the perforate variety. The stamps all tied by purple commemoration strikes. The cover has been roughly opened at top so part of the upper right corner is missing. Otherwise it is fresh and clean with clear cancellations. Not common.  Registered Air Mail cover sent Singapore to Karaikudi / Madras in India. 9 stamps, BMA Malaya, Singapore strikes. 2 stamps with surface scratches and the front side with stains from glue.
