This is a vintage Mola with a beautiful bird motif. This came from the estate of a gentleman by the name of Everett Lee Davenport and it belonged to his brother, Randall R. Davenport. They were from the Diagonal, Iowa area.

Randall lived from 1943-1977 and passed in Los Angeles, California. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a diesel mechanic from 1968-1976. He most likely acquired this in that time frame, while working on the Railway.

The piece has lovely color for its age. There are blue, green, red and oranges mostly on a black background, with a beautiful bird motif.

I purchased this piece as you see it, already framed, and I am making the assumption that it was done for preservation. There is a note on the back which reads: Cloth from South America Framed by Randall Davenport.

The mola measures approximately 15 by 20 inches and the frame measures approximately 19 by 25 inches.

This towel is just beautiful. It is hand embroidered in a powder and darker blue and then there was a crocheted border. It is a big towel measuring 19 inches by 16 1/2 inches. It is clean and in excellent condition.  This sweet heavy cotton table cloth measures 33 inches square. It is hand embroidered in a pink and green wheat design and is hand fringed. There is one tiny pin prick size spot that I know would bleach out. Other than that it is perfect.  This lovely hand crocheted doilly measures 12 inches in diameter. It is in Perfect condition with no stains and would look so cute on a side table or in the center of a spring dining table.

Mola with Bird Motif $127.00

Incredible Hand Embroidered Dish Towel $12.50

Hand Embroidered Card Table Tablecloth $12.50

Vintage Pink and White Crocheted Daisy D $9.00

This is a circa 1930-1935 era Chinese silk lady's hat which has been framed. I purchased this at the estate auction of J.C. (Shorty) Schilletter, who I'm told was a professor at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

You see this beautiful piece the way I purchased it, already framed. I'm making the assumption that the Professor had this framed for preservation purposes, as it is in really nice shape for its age.

The only damages that I can see, as I have not removed the backing to check further, is along the top scalloped edge which is trimmed in a lilac silk binding. There are damages mostly in the V area of the scallop to the right and another to the left side about half way down the left, all on the binding.

The approximate measurements are 17 inches at the bottom in the widest area by 9 inches at the top in the scallop area by 10.5 from top to bottom.

The frame measures 20.25 x 14.75 x 1.5. The label on the back states that it was framed at Carlson of 111 E. Front Street, Wheaton, Illinois, in business since 1915.

The embroidery work is detailed and very professionally done. I  This fun table cloth is a blue heavy cotton with brown piping around the edges. It has ties to attach it to the legs of a card table and is in good condition. It is freshly laundered and ready for your next Canasta game. It measures 35 by 31 inches and has two tiny stains (brown) that might come out with some more washing.  This lovely hand embroidered linen guest towel is in MINT, virtually unused condition. It measures 18 inches long by 12 inches wide. The embroidery is yellow and red flowers and would match anything.  This delicate hand crocheted doily measures about 16 inches in diameter. Light and dark shades pink. No tears or stains. Excellent condition.

This Victorian fan measures just under 8 1/2" long and is 15" when completely open. This has a sheer mesh fabric backing). This is heavily embroidered with lovely color threads. There is also some lovely hand painting that compliments the sewn hand work. The fan has ivory guards with pressing and hand painting and each of the sticks mimics the guards. Two of the sticks have come away from the fabric. Minor staining on the fabric at the back of one of the guards - generally very nice condition. (#T-1119)

This Victorian fan measures 8 1/2" long and is 15" when completely open. This has a sheer mesh fabric backing (which has gold threads running through it). Each section has a 12 petaled flower stitched onto it (with another additional sheer fabric) and then sequins are sewn onto each petal and through each of the connecting ribbons. The ivory guards have carved, notched and pressed designs. Each of the sticks is a mini version of the guards. Two of the delicate sticks have breaks (but are still attached). The material is pulling away from one of the gaurds. There are some issues with the lighter fabric - it is torn in quite a few places. This still displays beautifully. (#T-1117)

Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. The everyday need for a buttonhook began in the early nineteenth century when it was used, as an accessory to masculine fashion, to fasten stiff leather button-boots. By the 1880's lines of buttons had become fashionable on ladies' gloves, clothing and footwear, and the development of the feminine market encouraged the production of 'fashion' buttonhooks' in the wide variety of sizes, shapes and materials that are described in this book, and which can still be found by collectors today. Shoehorns were frequently produced as companions to buttonhooks, but although the later had fallen into disuse by the 1940's, shoehorns still exist in most shoe shops and some homes to facilitate the slipping on of footwear. A 'schoying horne' was first mentioned in the fifteenth century and the imagination exercised around the well known basic shape has resulted in the variety so interesting to present-day collectors.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. A giant high-top sneaker embellished with golden scissors floats in a polka dot sky along with the surprising motto, "Run With Scissors." Hooked rug maker Jill Cooper explains, "The older I get, the more I don't follow 'the rules.' This rug was a way to share my belief that you must take every chance you can to enjoy all the beauty of life." Taking chances with hooked rugs -- those cozy accessories of hearth and home -- is just what members of Vermont's Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild do best. They tackle unconventional subjects, delight in using unheard of fibers, and love the challenge of designing their own contemporary work. At the same time, they are experts on "traditional" rugs and can replicate hooked pieces from the 1800s with uncanny precision. The guild's annual exhibit in 2006 featured more than 900 wonderful rugs, of which half are presented here and half in the companion volume. Feast your eyes on winners of the coveted Viewers' Choice Awards, rugs in Oriental designs, florals, abstracts, animals, architectural designs, and delicate miniature rugs smaller than a credit card. Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Collecting handkerchiefs is one of the few affordable areas of collecting in which the collectible also takes up very little space. Most people have preconceived notions of what hankies are - white cotton or linen square, decorated with a bit of lace or embroidery - and are surprised and delighted with what they see in this book - color, pattern, and humor. What's more, these hankies are a social history of their time, the 1940s and 1950s. With World War II, women became Rosie the Riveters, making their own money and enjoying their independence. The hankies in Handkerchiefs: A Collector's Guide, Volume 2, reflect this new equality with their bright, optimistic colors and subjects. New social conventions, such as road trips, barbecues, and the cocktail hour, which became the fabric of America in the decade after the war, were chronicled in handkerchiefs. This book brings out the collector in anyone who inherited hankies from a mother or grandmother, or who enjoys good design. There are no repeats from Volume 1 in the more than 600 new examples shown.  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. From poodle skirts of the 1950s to baby doll dresses of the 1990s, the fabrics of our everyday lives are featured in this handy reference guide to the materials of the last half century. A companion to Dating Fabrics: A Color Guide 1800-1960, this source is ideal for those studying fashion and clothing trends from the late twentieth century, as well as collectors of recent quilts. Today's quilts may have elements of more than one decade because many quilters collect a great deal of fabric, and may draw from one group of fabric over a long period of time. The recent proliferation of reproduction fabrics has caused concern for the ability to differentiate the old from the new in reproduction quilts and repairs. An informative section on these fabrics from the 1980-2000 era provides a blueprint for building confident conclusions as to the fabric's origins. For ease in identification, prints are shown actual size and specific fabric lines and styles are grouped and sorted by date, then color. Dating divisions coincide with turning points in history which influenced attitudes and styles, and are highlighted by a brief history of each era. PUBLISHER'S REVIEW ...here are many keys to fabric origins, discussions of quilting and clothing trends, actual size prints to aid in accurate identification, grouped by date, color and style, and much more. Blending a history with photos which are easily compared to fabrics through lay-flat spiral binding and a hard-cover edge for easy filing, Dating Fabrics 2 is the fabric collector s essential reference. -Library Bookwatch, October 2005, Midwest Book Review  Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas.
