This is a nice, clean, antique slate roof repair tool, designed to slide under the slates of the roof, and cut the nails of the slate piece that needs to be replaced. Since the nails are usually a soft metal, this type cutter is effective in most cases to cut the nail and free the broken slate to be replaced. There was about 3 manufactures of these rippers, and this one is almost identical to the Belden Machine Co. brand that was one of the best known for quality tools, but we believe this to be made by AULD & CONGER CO CLEVELAND OHIO. These nail removing tools where generally made in two or three piece construction, the handle area a softer less brittle metal, and then the cutting section, a hardened and tempered steel so the cutting edge would hold it's edge during routine use. The cutting edges can be sharpened if you wish, this one as you can see in the picture is sharp and ready to use. The condition of this tool is far better than most we have seen, with some evidence of hammer striking marks on the forward section of the handle, and just minor dings on the rounded cap end, (this tool can be used in either push or pull movements). There is some evidence of past rust, no pitting, not rusty, but metal is bare, no paint, or very little. The cutter sections are about 99% intact as new. You may want to sharpen them slightly before use to suit your purpose, but it plenty sharp enough to go to work as is. This tool is 29.5" long overall, the flat straight part to slide under the slate is 24" from the tip to the L shaped part of the handle. A quality USA made antique slater's cutter in very good, useable condition!

Stanley No. 10 1/2 Carriage Makers Rabbet Plane. Inside back is marked No. 10 1/2. Top of blade is marked Stanley New Britain Conn. U.S.A. Overall condition of the Plane I would consider very good. Retains much of it's original patina. Back edge of the iron on both sides has impressed the initials and last name of a previous owner. The front knob has lost some of it's luster, so it's new owner may want to have it stained or find and a replacement. Plane would make a fine addition to one's Carpenter Tool collection. Buyer to pay shipping & insurance.

Vintage flag stand produced by E.T.Sherman of Minneapolis. It is 7 1/2 inches high and 16 inches at the base. The 3 footed base is adjustable for different diameter poles. The brown handle is 11 1/4" long, the head is about 3 inches across and the blade is about 2 inches. Total length of the tool is 16 inches. The box has some damage.  This is a useable antique upholstery tack puller. It has a unique design with a steel pivoting lever and one moving, and one stationary jaw to grasp the medium large head upholstery type tacks. The pivot lever allows additional leverage and firmer grasp of the same type tack. It is possible to use it on other than upholstery tacks but seems to work best on tacks with the larger heads. It has a good solid wood handle and brass ferrule, that is very well attached to the steel, some minor wear on the handle dark stain finish, the steel is clean no rust, some minor wear on the jaws, clean. This knife is in very good condition overall, with sharp blades, and very minor staining on the blades, mostly polished shiny, firm locking blade positions.  This is a nice clean, vintage WWII era folding entrenching shovel, marked "US AMES 1944". We do believe that 1944 was the year of manufacture of this shovel, as many companies that didn't make military use items had changed over the production line to meet the needs of the war effort in that year. Ames Tools generally made shovels, picks and other earth working tools before WWII. We have some commemorative belt buckle that mark their manufacturing of tools that build America also. This shovel is 20.5" long folded and 28" long fully extended. The shovel end is 6" wide x 8.5" long on the blade only. It was originally all painted Army green, even on the wood handle. About 90% of the paint is still intact overall. The shovel pivot is very heavy duty, and lock in both positions with a threaded nut that pushes against the pivot arms, an works great.  This vintage Stanley Level #3 was made by and marked: Stanley Rule & Level Co. / PAT. 629162396 / New Britain, Conn.

The Stanley Works is a manufacturer of a broad range of tools and hardware for home improvement, consumer, industrial, and professional applications.

The company was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley, a 41-year-old merchant and manufacturer whose previous work experience included stints as a clerk on a Connecticut River steamboat and as an itinerant peddler in the South. In 1831, Stanley, in partnership with his younger brother William Stanley, had opened a small facility in New Britain, Connecticut, for the manufacture of house trimmings and door locks. Though the business failed to survive the Panic of 1837, it seemed to have served as the prototype for a second manufacturing venture in New Britain--Stanley's Bolt Manufactory--which Frederick Stanley, again in concert with his brother, established in 1843.

In very good condition without splits it does have paint spots which I have shown in my pictures and it measures 3 inches high, 24 inches long and 1 3/8 inches deep.

An addition to any Vintage Stanley Tool Collection.
