Both of these Leather Stretchers are basically the same size, 3/4" x 3-3/8" x 8", and both have the same 6 steel points, with the same spacing between them. We believe both to be made by Osborne. Veterinarian medical tool antique iron horse speculum.

Massive, heavy this made forged instrument was jammed into a horses mouth.

Braced so the horse could not bite, then drench medicine was poured in.

Large wooden handle on this huge wrought iron ranch necessity.

Vets were at risk from severe bites when examining dentition or dosing bad tasting quack cure medicinals.

Great equestrian Veterinary and farm antique.

A Stanley # 18 folding protractor. In good, usable condition.  Actually, I don’t know what this item is at all. It came to us with several wooden planes, and looks like it was also used for planing, but with a very narrow blade. It measures 24.5cm long and 5.5cm wide (9.3/4 inches by 2.1/4 inches). It is 7.5cm high (3 inches). There is a steel 2 part strip inserted into it with a notched cut-out between the two pieces. An angled 1.25cm (1 inch) wide hole runs through the wood from here, like a plane would have. Well made, heavy. Handsome - just don’t know what it is.  This is a nice clean antique nail cutter, designed for use on slate roofs, to slide under the slate and cut the nails allowing a damaged slate piece to be removed and replaced. This is a rare maker, and we know little about this company. The tool is marked "B.O. PAINE CO." on the under side of the main stock. This maker made their ripper in three sections, the cutting section, middle section, and handle section, using different steel, with different benifets for each area, including a hardened cutting section, and a softer steel handle and hammering area. As you can see in the pictures, this one has not been used much, and it's in great shape overall, with very good cutting sections, basically sharpened all the way around the arrow shaped tip. A nice rare antique tool!

Vintage Wooden Planing Attachment. $10.00

B. O. Paine Co. Slate Nail Ripper Cutter $85.00

Featured for you tool buffs is this great old torch heated soldering iron. As you know the old

brass gas torches had a spot on the top to place these. You had one heating while you used the

other. Kept your work moving right along that way. This one shows it was well used. Slight

bends to the shaft and the tip is well worn. Great old piece of history.

 Early electric shock treatment medicine.

Wooden case holds a most bizarre apparatus that would general electricity.

Late Victorian and Edwardian snake oil salesmen would promote this as a cure for every ailment, from cancer to schizophrenia.

More a torture device and scam then any medicinal value, self proclaimed Doctors hawked these in early medicine shows along with worthless patent remedies.

According to watchdog group Quackwatch Electro Diagnostic Devices still defraud patients today, though admittedly, more high tech.

We have a different model listed on this site as well.

Quackery at it’s best.

A good quality little paint burner, measuring only 16cm (6.1/4 inches) high. Trademark Primus of Sweden. Model No. 630. Makers are B.A. Hjorth & Co, Sweden. Polishes up nicely. Excellent condition.  This vintage folding ruler is 2 ft. long. Divided in 4 sections with brass clad folding mechanisms or hinges. There is one small break to the wood, please view image. This will not detract from use or display. I can not find a makers mark, perhaps it has faded out. Definitely a nice vintage item to use and display.

(3) Different Old Animal Traps. I believe these all for Moles, Gophers or Rodents of the sort. The large one has the name NASH MOLE TRAP, SCOTTS, MICH., the smaller green one has no name and the other says EASY SET COIL SPRING NO. 1 1/2 and the name of the company which is hard to make out. Traps appear to function properly. Would make a nice additon to any Trapper's collection.

Vintage Brass Mallet. This mallet is 6-1/2 inches long, has a smooth surface on one side and a knurled surface on the other side of the head. It is stamped with what looks like MESTER on the handle and it is in good condition.   Stanley #84 folding carpenters rule made of boxwood and brass. It is hinged to fold from 6inches to 24 inches. It has brass hinges and a brass rail on one side only. The outside shows some discoloration, but the numbers are still quite readable. The inside is nice and sharp. It is marked No.84 with the Stanley logo and Made in U.S.A. on the outside and Warranted Boxwood on the inside. The brass rail has a slight bow in it about ½" long. Over all in very good condition.

  H. Chapin #19 folding rule made of boxwood and brass. It is hinged to fold from 6 inches to 24 inches. It is completely encased in brass and is still very square. The numbers on the outside show some wear from use, but it is still in very good and usable condition. It is marked No.19 H. Chapin U. S. Standard. This company made rules, planes, and other woodworking tools in the mid 1800's up until 1901 when it was merged with Stephens & Co. to form Chapin Stephens & Company. So, this one is definitely over 100 years old. A great little rule for you to add to your measuring tool collection!

This is a good used late 1800's vintage cast iron, pistol shaped, and graduated 4" steel slitting tool or gauge, generally designed for cutting strips of leather, but may have other uses as well. It comes complete with a good sharp hardened steel cutter and adjustable width feature that has a graduated scale in inches on it. The tool is marked on the top of the pistol shaped section "PAT. AUG. 1.76 REISSUED", and also marked on the graduated beam "OSBORNE NEWARD N.J.". The Patent date is 1876 reissued July 17, 1877 on this design. The slide bar has the capacity from 1/4"4" widthes, and can hold a cutter up to 1/4 x 3/4". The pistol shaped handle appears to have been sanded smooth and polished in some areas. All in good condition with no cracks or damage, the cutter may is sharp, and the set screws are in useable shape, the one on the pistol is most likely a newer replacement. A good clean vintage leather working tool!  Early Instrument marked G. Goradi.Zurich Switzerland. I've been told that is known as a Planimeter which is used in measuring areas of land after surveying. Instrument comes with what is probably its original box and has a label on the bottom of the inside of the box. Cosmetically looks to be in fairly good condition but I do not know about the operational condition. Probably dates sometime around the early 1900's. Would make a great addition to any Vintage Instrument collection. Buyer to pay shipping & insurance.
