Apprx 1.5" by 1", very old solid ivory Asian mask figural button. Minimal painting to give accent to the hair, eyebrows and eyes. Lovely details, late 1800s to early 1900s, Victorian era, very nice example. Ivory graining can be seen on the sides. Excellent and original condition.  Measure has metal body with celluloid top and bottom and cloth tape. Same graphics on both sides. 1 1/2" diameter. Tape pulls out and retracts perfectly. Condition: Excellent. Metal is shiny with no damage or rust. Top/bottom are near mint with some very light scuffing to the finish. Sensational Silk Gail Brown a handbook for sewing silk and silk-like fabrics Palmer / Pletsch , 1982. ISBN 0-935278-07-9. Soft cover, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches, 128 pages. Slight warp to pages. Name plate inside front. Clean and firmly bound. Under 1 lb.  These two buttons match, with one 2" in diameter and the other 1 3/8". They're pot metal with openwork figural leaves, each leaf encrusted with colorful round faceted rhinestones of blue, orange-yellow, green, and red. They look to date to the early to mid 1900s. They;re each marked with a raised "8" and the maker's mark "WMCA" or "WMGA". I'd love to know more about this company..anyone care to share? The buttons are functional and in good condition, though they both have some rhinestones missing. They actually are nice as they are, but if desired, you can replace the stones fairly easily. Smart styling, this is a rare complimentary pair of buttons waiting to be sewn onto an outfit or used in a jewelry project! There are a total of two cards from Le Chic, one card has two Silver metal buttons, and the other card has one. The original price printed on the card is $1.10. The buttons are #908 and measure ¾ in. dia. The back of the card states, Le Chic Buttons, B. Blumenthal & Co., Inc., Carlstadt, NJ 07072, Sub. Of Belding Heminway, Inc. It further states that the buttons, May Tarnish if Washed.  There are four mother of pearl buttons in a light brown color on the original card. The card says, Le Chic, 3500, Guaranteed Washable. There is a price of $.79 and the buttons each measure 7/16 in. dia. The back of the card says, Le Chic buttons, B. Blumenthal & Co., Inc., Carlstadt, N.J. 07072, A Division of Belding Heminway Co., Inc., Made in Japan.  Coming in its original box are 12 spools of tatting-crochet thread. It looks like only one spoon was used half way, and possibly another had just a bit of it used. All but two of the spools also have the original paper label in the center of the spool. The original box has the following written on the top, J. & P. Coats, U.S.A., Boilfast, Best Six Cord Tatting-Crochet, Sold by the Spol, Cotton Company New York. On the side of the box, it adds, Twelve 60-yard balls, 13-C Shaded Turquoise. The side of the box is torn at three of the corners, but the rest is in good condition. The box measures 4 in. by 5 ¼ in. and 1 in. thick.  What a cute addition to your sewing collectibles! A little bisque girl dressed in a long pale yellow dress with a grey bib apron and matching hat. She is holding a spool of thread, the basket at her side is holding a pair of scissors, and the top of her hat is a pin cushion. She has a bottom label, Made in Taiwan, and measures 6 in. tall.

This is a really neat item! A sewing awl from C.A. Myers Co., Chicago, Ill., original box, with sheet of instructions. The awl has a wooden handle, the base unscrews, and holds another sewing needle and a key. The Awl for All. the box & instruction sheet are in fairly good condition, just some minor tears.  A cute little glass animal, probably a dog, with a pin cushion back. He has large protruding white eyes with black dots. He measures 1 ¾ in. high by 2 ½ in. long.  Please Take 50% Off The Featured Price. This is an adorable machine-made tapestry from the beginning of the 20th century depicting a country scene with farmers gathered together around a table and enjoying their pipes while the women are taking care of the children. This piece is in overall good condition; note that the colors have faded a little nit due to the age. Circa date 1900. A vintage advertising box for J & P Coats Products. Box measures 6-1/4 inches length, 2-1/2 inches width and 1-inch depth. Has advertising on both front and back and one side. Top has measuring increments and some pencil marks; one side has a slight tear above the notch. Inside has a paper insert still attached to the side. Box has age yellowing, as expected.  This pretty case would date to early 1900’s - 1915. Celluloid was invented in 1870 and was mostly used as a replacement to ivory. In 1910 Bakelite was discovered and then was more widely used in the 1920’s. Later plastics become the more economical replacement for both. Celluloid burned easily and not a lot of that survived. This case has some pinholes but other than that is in very nice condition for its age. Size: 3-3/4 inches length and 1 inch width. Lid fits nice and snug, as intended. It has one stick- pin inside, and the tip of one is sticking into its side. The original owner apparently also used it as a pincushion. In early times quilting bees were a way for women to gather and socialize, and they often would carry these little sewing kits along to hold their needles.  An early tin that held assorted sizes of dress snaps. Product was made for Sears Roebuck & Co. by Waldes Koh-i-noor of Long Island City, N.Y. Tin measures 3 1/8" x 2" x 1/2" deep. Paper insert inside of lid, cardboard separator inside base. Hinged-lid. Condition: Fair, good amount of finish wear at edges. One pencil-point size shallow dimple on front, otherwise no damage. Small amount of old tape residue on top and bottom front edge. Shipping: $1.98 via 1st class mail.  This is a lovely set of vintage flower form brilliant cut clear Rhinestone buttons, each with large 1/4 inch round center stone surrounded by 6 small round stones.

I have a love affair with the old sewing utensils. This handmade colorful hat is an old pincushion. It has a total diameter of 6 1/2 inches with the pincushion part measuring 2 3/4 inches in diameter. There are even some old glass headed pins in the pincushion. The condition is very good with some fading of the color.  I have nine of these 10" square quilt blocks. I don't know the name of the pattern, but each block has four X or cross shapes. Two are made with pink flowers on blue calico crosses, the others appear to be made from men's shirting. For some reason the background fabric color turned out much lighter in my photos than the true tan or light sand brown color it really is. This fabric also appears to be a man's shirting type. The blocks are pieced entirely by hand and are in good condition.  This hard rubber button has a patent date 1851 and is marked N.R. Co. It is black and has a waffle pattern in the center and a scalloped border. It is a two hole button. An unusual one to add to your collection. ADD $2.00 SHIPPING TO ANYWHERE IN THE USA. Vogue Patterns May/June 1980 - 88 complete pagesin color. Cover: jumpsuit radiance. Machine quilted jackets- Special touches for summer softness - Loaded with pictures of clothes by many, many models. Clean cut clothes work and play.  Sweet and petite, this deep red bakelite thimble and needlecase ensemble is an art deco treasure dating back to the 1920s or 30s and measuring approximately 2 3/8" long. The thimble unscrews to reveal 3 miniature spools of thread around a cylinder for needles. I believe it is either celluloid or bakelite. A subtle black and gold deco hand painted design encircles it, and a hole at the bottom probably at one time held a tassel. The case is NOT perfect...the thimble has been glued together after being broken. Also, some of the paint has rubbed off, though most is still amazingly intact as the pictures should illustrate. Still, this is a terrific piece that would make a nice bauble on a bakelite neckace or an interesting curio. Because it is not mint, I am offering this with NO RESERVE on this final sale auction (in mint condition,this piece would retail for about $85 or more). It would make a nice addition to any collection of vintage bakelite or sewing memorabilia.  I don't know the name of the pattern, but there are nine of these vintage cotton quilt blocks plus one partial, most of them stitched together in two panels. It's kind of a diamond pinwheel star motif, done in solid medium green, white muslin, pink calico, and yellow calico. Each block is 12" square and hand pieced at 10 to 11 stitches per inch. I didn't wash the blocks but they all appear to be in good shape with no stains or tears.  A fine sterling silver thimble by Simons Bro. & Co., circa 1890s to the early 1900s. Stamped inside the cap with a shield mark containing an S and STERLING. Stamped on the outside "12". Elegantly decorated with a simple squared off design. In very fine condition with no dents. Sold unpolished, antique patina. Measures 7/8 inches in height by over 5/8 inches in diameter.

Still a lovely example of a very pretty antique sewing thimble.  GREAT PAIR OF EMBROIDERY SCISSORS MARKED O. MAAG, GERMANY. THESE USED TO BE HIGHLY SOUGHT OUT SCISSORS AS THEY WERE HARD METAL AND ALWAYS SO SHARP AND KEPT SHARP SO LONG. THEY WERE ALSO USED FOR FINGER NAILS, THREAD AND ETC. THEY ARE 4 INCHES LONG AND 1 3/4 INCHES WIDE. STILL A GREAT PAIR OF LITTLE SCISSORS.  A goldtone metal embroidery scissors in the shape of a stork. Measures 3.5 in. long.
